Chapter 65 Father and Daughter

Patricia had a bad feeling but couldn't ignore Michael's call.
Not answering would be tantamount to admitting the "kidnapping" charge.
After a few seconds of hesitation, she answered the phone, her voice calm, "Hello, bro?"
"Patricia, where did you take Juniper's child?!"
"I—I didn't!"
"Don't lie! The surveillance footage shows everything clearly! Don't do anything stupid! Tell me, where are you?"
"I'm at Santa Maria Hospital!"

Juniper and her party rushed to the hospital.
The moment Jennifer saw Juniper, she broke away from Patricia and ran towards her mother.
"Mommy!"
Juniper hugged her tightly, her tense anxiety spilling out with tears. "How could you run off on your own? Mommy was going crazy worried, but thank goodness we found you. Are you alright?"
The mother and daughter both cried.

Jennifer wiped her tears while admitting her mistake, "Mom, I'm sorry. I won't run off again."

"It's okay as long as you're safe."

Juniper hugged her daughter tightly.

She was relieved that Jennifer was unharmed.

That intense fear slowly dissipated.

Juniper wiped her own tears away, then slowly stood up and fixed her gaze on Patricia.

Her eyes instantly turned cold and angry.

Juniper was about to confront her when Michael grabbed her arm.

"Juniper, Patricia acted on impulse. I'll handle this, you don't have to—"

But before Michael could finish, Juniper shrugged off his hand.

Patricia glared at her, guiltily stammering, "I-I didn't kidnap her! I just brought her here to the hospital for a paternity test to see if she's really Magnus's daughter! Why do you look like you want to kill me? Oh, I get it, this brat isn't even Magnus's child, that's why you're so furious—"

"Smack!"

Juniper slapped her hard across the face.

"That slap is for taking Jennifer."

Patricia clutched her cheek, looking extremely wronged, "I did not kidnap her! Stop slandering me!"

"Smack!"

Another slap followed.

"And that one is for calling Jennifer a bastard."

"Don't you go too far! Brother, she dares to hit me! Aren't you going to help me—"

As Patricia scurried behind Michael in fear, Juniper landed another slap!

"Smack!"

But this slap didn't reach Patricia.

Instead, it hit Michael's face.

Robert and Ophelia were taken aback by the scene.

"Man, when your friend loses it, it's really something else."

Ophelia, unimpressed, said, "Well, it's his fault for not keeping Patricia in line! He even tried to stop Juniper. He had it coming!"

Juniper's eyes blazed as she stared down the man before her, her voice cold and sharp, "Since you're so willing to take her place, that slap's for you enabling your sister to kidnap someone else's child."

"Juniper—" Michael's eyes dimmed in an instant.

Patricia continued to protest, "Juniper, I told you, I didn't kidnap her! I just brought her here for a paternity test! Why are you so upset!"

Juniper walked past Michael, looking directly at Patricia, and said firmly, "If you dare touch Jennifer again, I will end you. And if you think I'm joking, you're welcome to try."
Patricia cracked a maddened, bloodthirsty smile, the kind that comes from someone who has lost all reason.

Fear of her spiked unreasonably within Patricia, who glared back defiantly but dared not utter another word, only biting her lip tightly.

Little Jennifer, with her backpack strapped on, stood aside, feeling that something was off with her mother.

She trotted over and took Juniper's hand. "Mommy, I'm hungry. Let's go home."

Juniper's palm was icy and numb.

But Jennifer's soft little hand gradually warmed her.

"Okay, let's go home."

Juniper gripped Jennifer's small hand and turned around, only to freeze in her tracks.

Magnus stood there, his dark eyes fixed on her as if trying to see right through her.

Jennifer was the first to snap out of it. She instinctively ran toward Magnus!

"Daddy!"

At that moment, Juniper's hand felt an abrupt emptiness.

She had lost Jennifer.
