Chapter 143 Easy Victory

The calmer Juniper appeared the more agitated Patricia became.

She glared at Juniper, "What are you laughing at? It takes two to tango. He wouldn’t have loved you for seven years without a reason.”

Juniper gave her a slap.

This slap shocked Patricia.

She covered her face, not expecting Juniper to suddenly hit her. "What are you doing!"

But she had no intention of retaliating.

Magnus was standing not far away, just in time to see another side of Juniper. He wanted to know how vicious she could be.

"If you don't provoke me, why would I hit you? As you said, it takes two to tango."

"You" Patricia was on the verge of exploding. "You and your father got Magnus locked up for three years. Do you think you still have the right to be his wife? Oh, and that bastard Alexander, he even killed Magnus's biological father! Magnus's mother would never accept you!"

Mentioning Ava, Juniper's eyes were filled with complicated emotions.

It was not that she didn’t hate Ava for killing Lyra, she just didn't have the right to do so.

It was between the previous generation, that Juniper didn't want to live with hatred.

She smirked mockingly, "I don't have the right to be his wife, and neither do you."

Patricia was stung, holding back her anger, gritting her teeth, "You and Magnus are simply not suitable, Juniper. I just don't understand why you insist on staying with him.”

“What about you then? Why do you insist on pestering Magnus? Do you think if I am not here, he'll be yours?"

"You!"

Juniper didn't give her a chance to catch her breath as she coldly said, "It can’t be easier to find a man. Stop daydreaming. He is not for me, nor is he for you.”

Juniper had no intention of wasting more words with her, turning around, she saw Magnus walking towards them.

He looked at her, took her hand, and said to Patricia, "She didn't entangle me, it was me who entangled her."

Patricia was furious, almost grinding her molars to pieces.

She couldn't bear to watch anymore, stomping away in her high heels.

Juniper thought for a moment, saying, "I couldn't help it just now, I slapped her. She's Michael's sister, will it have any consequences?"

"If you slapped her, you slapped her. Do you care about Michael's opinion that much?"

She didn’t mean that.

She wasn't close to Michael. "But isn't he your best friend?"

"He wouldn't mix things up like that."

Juniper nodded, about to head back.

Suddenly, Magnus grabbed her hand, pulled her into his arms, and held her tightly.

Pressing against her shoulder, his voice hoarse, "I'm a bit drunk, feeling dizzy, let me lean on you for a while."

They had indeed had quite a bit to drink at the dinner table. But Magnus could hold his liquor, so why was he drunk now?

Juniper's face, facing the corridor, she saw Michael and the others coming out of the private room.

She patted Magnus's back, reminding him, "They're done eating, looks like they're leaving, let's go over."

But Magnus, eyes closed, remained unmoved. Holding the person in his arms even tighter. In a hoarse voice, he instructed, "Juniper, hug me."

Juniper didn't think much of it, assuming he was too drunk to hear properly.

After hesitating for a few seconds, she finally raised her arms and embraced his back. Michael stood not far away, watching the scene, frozen in place.

They were really back together. He stood there, not knowing how long he had been standing. Juniper, supporting Magnus, walked towards them.

Magnus seemed drunk, his arm pressing against Juniper's shoulder, his steps unsteady. Juniper was weak.

Michael reached out a hand. Juniper gave Michael a grateful look, and greeted him, "Is everyone done?"

"They went to the parking lot, let's go too."

"Okay."

Michael couldn't help but explain, "Patricia talks nonsense, don't overthink."

Juniper nodded, "I know, you and Sinclair are getting married, how could you be interested in me, that's ridiculous. When is the wedding? Remember to let me know."

Michael was stunned for a moment and forced a smile.

Her smile was bitter. She was so direct that she didn't leave any room for his thoughts. Whether Juniper was genuinely unaware or just pretending no longer held any significance.

What mattered was that she never even considered that he might be interested in her.

In Juniper's eyes, who was Michael?

Just a friend of Magnus.

It was because of Magnus that she occasionally crossed paths with him.

He suddenly realized that even explaining was unnecessary.

Because Juniper didn't care, nor was she curious about what emotions he had towards her.

Michael and Patricia had both been drinking and couldn't drive.

Sinclair arrived. Juniper supported Magnus towards the car, and as they passed Sinclair, she greeted her.

As they reached the car, Juniper supported him, unable to free up a hand.

She nudged Magnus with her elbow, "Where are the car keys?"

"In my pocket." He replied without moving. Juniper sighed softly, one hand supporting him, the other reaching into his pants pocket.

She felt the left side, but nothing. Through the thin fabric of his pants, she could feel his tense, lean muscles.

His fingertips were slightly warm. She reached for the right pocket, and found the keys.

Just as she took out the car keys to open the door, ready to put Magnus in, the man suddenly pushed hard, his entire weight leaning on her.

Both of them tumbled into the back seat at the same time. He looked down at her.

Then a warmth spread on her lips. The sweet and sour taste of pineapple spread in her mouth.

A candy was pushed into her mouth. The kiss wasn't deep, just a few brief seconds, his dark eyes staring at her intently, saying, "After eating the candy, the bitterness fades."

After speaking, he leaned against her neck. She tried to push him away, but Magnus seemed to have passed out drunk, unmoving no matter how hard she pushed.

Juniper exerted some effort, pushing for quite a while. The back seat swayed slightly due to the vigorous movements, sparking the imagination.

Michael stood not far away, watching the car, his fists clenched.

He had liked Juniper for seven years, and he had always known that Juniper's affection was for Magnus. Yet, seeing them embrace so intimately, he couldn't remain indifferent.

He was deeply engrossed in an abyss of obsession, but now it seemed so absurd. His eyes gradually reddened. Sinclair stood beside him, witnessing the scene in its entirety.

She looked at Michael, finally reached out, and held his fist, "Let's go."

Meanwhile, Juniper finally managed to push Magnus aside and reached the driver's seat. She breathed out, looked in the rearview mirror, and saw Michael and Sinclair.

In the back seat, Magnus lay there, one hand resting on his forehead, looking truly intoxicated.

So, was he pretending to be drunk just now to let Michael see them kissing?

Trying to make Michael give up, wanting to maintain their friendship?

There were some things Juniper saw through but chose not to expose.

For example, whether the person in the back seat was genuinely drunk or faking it.

Juniper crunched the pineapple candy in her mouth, and suddenly honked the horn.

The piercing sound made Magnus' eardrums ache.

No matter how drunk he was, he should be mostly sober by now.

Juniper was driving in front, glanced at the back seat through the mirror, saw no reaction from him, and felt a bit puzzled.

Was he really not pretending?
