Chapter 197 Even If It Didn't Turn Out Well, I Still Wanted to Try
Aria drove here alone and didn't arrange for a designated driver beforehand.
Magnus' hand was injured, so he couldn't drive.
If she became drunk, no one would take her home unless...
Aria looked at Juniper. "If I get drunk, can you take me home, Ms. Beaumont?"
Ophelia was speechless. 'How shameless can you be?' she thought.
Tensions were high at the table.
Juniper stayed calm and said, "Sure, I'll take you."
Ophelia stared at Juniper, wide-eyed.
"If you get drunk, just stay the night. We have plenty of guest rooms!" Magnus' words stunned everyone.
Even Aria was surprised!
Magnus' eyes glinted coldly as he looked at Juniper. "Naomi, bring out the strongest vodka from my liquor cabinet!"
Naomi asked, "How many bottles?"
Magnus said, "Enough for five people!"
Naomi was shocked. 'Won't it be dangerous?' she thought.
Naomi felt the tension and looked at Juniper, as if to say, "Shouldn't you intervene?"
But Juniper said lightly, "Naomi, go ahead. It's rare to have friends over, and Mr. Blackwood is happy."
Robert sat nearby, took a slice of watermelon, and quietly observed. "I'm not joining in. I only drink red wine. I had enough of vodka when I was a kid."
Ophelia said, "You're the driver; you shouldn't drink any alcohol, not even red wine."
If he drank, how could he drive her home?
Robert glanced at her, leaned back, and looked at her playfully.
'Weren't we just talking about divorce a few days ago, and now you won't even let me drink red wine? Are you trying to control me?' he thought.
Ophelia felt uncomfortable under Robert's gaze and quickly looked away.
Robert slowly said, "Fine, I won't drink. I'll eat watermelon."
He took another slice of watermelon.
The fruit platter was near him.
Jenny reached out her hand. "I want some watermelon too!"
Robert handed her a slice, teasingly saying, "Let's eat watermelon together!"
Jenny took a bite. "So sweet!"
Robert raised an eyebrow. "Jenny, do you know which melon is the sweetest?"
Jenny shook her head.
"The one in my hand is the sweetest!" Jenny said after some contemplation.
Robert asked again, "Smart girl. Do you know which melon is the least sweet?"
Jenny furrowed her brows, thought for a while, and pointed. "The one in your hand is not sweet."
Robert was stunned by her cleverness.
Magnus sneered. "Jenny is right. Uncle Robert's melon is the least sweet. Do you know why?"
Jenny was curious. "Why?"
Magnus calmly said, "Because the melon in his hand was forcibly picked."
Ophelia almost burst out laughing.
Robert glared at her, took another slice of watermelon, and bit into it fiercely. "Even if it's not sweet, I'm happy to pick it."
Even if he didn't like it, he picked it just for fun. Robert was quite a character.
Soon, Naomi brought over five bottles of vodka, along with a decanter and glasses.
Juniper personally opened the bottles.
One bottle for Aria, one for Ophelia.
Magnus, sitting across from them, coolly said, "Open another bottle."
Juniper was taken aback. Was he going to drink too?
Juniper said, "Your arm is injured, you shouldn't drink..."
Magnus interrupted coldly, "It won't kill me."
Juniper pursed her lips. Fine, she'd do as he asked..
Not only did she open the bottle for him, but she also poured 200 milliliters into the decanter.
Seeing this, Robert said, "If you keep this up, I'll get tempted too."
Juniper suddenly said, "If you want to drink, go ahead. Mr. Blackwood's villa has plenty of guest rooms. One guest or three, it's all the same."
Her tone had a hint of emotion this time, and Aria noticed it.
Aria curled her lips, raised a glass, and invited, "How about Ms. Beaumont? Join us for a drink too!"
Magnus stopped her. "She's allergic to alcohol; she can't drink."
"Then forget it," Aria said, about to give up.
Juniper smiled slightly. "There's nothing I can't drink. Since Ms. Robinson wants to have a drink with me, let's have a drink."
In the past, Juniper had a severe alcohol allergy. But after being exposed to alcohol several times, it wasn't as severe anymore.
Having a drink would just cause an allergic reaction and itch for a few days.
She poured herself a glass, and Magnus stood up and grabbed her wrist. "Juniper."
Juniper brushed off his hand, ignored his objection, and downed the glass in one go.
She turned the glass upside down, not a drop left. "Ms. Robinson, I finished mine; now it's your turn."
Aria became interested in Juniper. She was just as reckless as Magnus. Allergic to alcohol, yet daring to drink vodka?
Aria finally understood why Magnus had been infatuated with Juniper for so many years.
Juniper was ruthless. Ruthless to herself, and ruthless to Magnus.
At first glance, Juniper seemed delicate, but her temperament was actually similar to Magnus's.
Seeing Juniper drink so readily, Aria naturally followed suit, poured a full glass, and downed it in one go.
Ophelia said, "Hey, you said you'd drink with me; why are you drinking with Juniper? Are you bullying Juniper because she's allergic to alcohol?"
Aria poured another glass and raised it to Ophelia. "Ms. Perez, this one is a toast to you, let's drink together."
At the drinking table, it went back and forth like this. Everyone drank quite a bit.
Juniper sat there, with a few faint red spots on her neck, and she instinctively reached out to scratch.
Jenny, sitting nearby, said, "Mom, your neck is red!"
Juniper said, "It's okay; it'll be fine in a few days."
Magnus couldn't stand it anymore and suddenly stood up. He walked around the dining table, in front of everyone, and strode over to Juniper.
Juniper, feeling dizzy, saw a shadow suddenly loom over her. She slowly looked up.
Magnus was staring at her. Before she could say anything, he grabbed her wrist. "Go apply some ointment."
Magnus forcibly pulled Juniper away.
Aria leaned back in her chair, watching this scene, and remarked, "So domineering."
Ophelia thought she was envious and sneered. "Mr. Blackwood has never been domineering to you, Ms. Robinson? That's really unfortunate; it means Mr. Blackwood doesn't like you, Ms. Robinson. One-sided love isn't sweet!"
Aria was also formidable. She looked at Ophelia, then at Robert, her amused gaze lingering between them.
Ophelia felt uncomfortable under this scrutinizing gaze. "What are you looking at?"
Aria staggered to her feet and sighed. "Occupational habit, always observing people."
After saying that, she walked towards Magnus and Juniper. As she passed Ophelia, she deliberately patted her shoulder and said, "You and your husband are quite a match!"
Ophelia, having drunk, got a bit temperamental and instinctively retorted, "Who's a match with him!"
Aria just smiled lightly and walked away.
However, Robert, sitting across from Ophelia, glared at her with a dark expression, grinding his teeth. "In what way are we not a match?"
