Chapter 258 Who Wants to Marry You?
When they walked out with the marriage certificate, Sinclair felt like she was floating, her whole body light as if in a dream. "We're married! Can I post this on Facebook?"
"Sure," Michael replied.
Sinclair beamed. "Awesome, I'll post it once we get in the car."
Michael held her hand as they headed to the car.
Sinclair asked again, "Hey, since our marriage is such a big deal, should we invite Patricia over for dinner tonight?"
Patricia was his younger sister, and Sinclair didn't want to leave her out.
Michael's eyes turned cold at the mention of Patricia. "No need. She's busy with her new job. Didn't you want steak? Where do you want to go? We'll go by ourselves tonight."
Sinclair shrugged. "Sure."
Once in the car, Sinclair updated her social media.
Sinclair posted on Facebook: [Happy newlyweds, Mr. Johnson.]
In the evening at Royal View, while Jenny was doing her homework in the children's room, Magnus and Juniper sneaked out.
Naomi stood at Jenny's door, covering for them.
As soon as the car engine started in the yard, Jenny rushed out, dropping her pen. "Naomi, have Mom and Dad already left?"
Naomi smiled. "They just drove off. Jenny, you should focus on your homework. You have school tomorrow. Your parents are out on a date and might be back late. If you go with them, you won't be able to go to school tomorrow!"
"They promised to take me! Liars! How could they leave so fast?"
"They're going out and, well... they have their own thing to do. How can they do that with a kid around? Go back and do your homework. Your dad said you need to memorize your lessons tonight. He'll check them tomorrow night."
Naomi said this while pushing Jenny back to her homework.
Jenny frowned and asked curiously, "Naomi, what do adults do on dates?"
Wasn't it just watching movies and shopping? What else could be more fun that she didn't know about?
Naomi felt embarrassed and just brushed it off. "Adults can do many things on dates, but you should hurry up. Otherwise, you'll get in trouble if you can't recite them tomorrow."
Jenny pouted. "Mom's at home. If I can't recite them, Dad won't dare to scold me."
The black Rolls-Royce drove a distance away from Royal View, and Juniper instinctively glanced back a few times.
"Isn't it a bit unethical to leave Jenny behind like this?"
During dinner, she had promised the little one to take her along in the evening.
But Magnus had directly taken her away, with no intention of bringing Jenny.
Magnus gave her a dark look and smirked. "Do you think our date tonight is suitable for her?"
Juniper's face heated up.
Well, who took kids to a private cinema?
But sneaking out for some alone time felt pretty good.
Magnus chose a small, private cinema with excellent privacy in Urban Oasis Plaza, about a half-hour drive away.
Juniper was sitting in the passenger seat when a message popped up on her phone.
It was from Ophelia: [OMG! Check out Sinclair's Facebook! She really married Michael!]
Juniper wasn't surprised.
After all, she had received their wedding invitation last night.
She opened Facebook and scrolled down a bit before seeing Sinclair's post.
Sinclair had posted nine photos, each with a great atmosphere.
Juniper liked the post and exited.
Ophelia sent another message, this time a voice one. "Does Sinclair really not mind that Michael once treated her as a stand-in? Or did Michael not tell her? Why do I suddenly feel like Michael's a bit of a jerk? I used to think he was a good guy. By the way, what's up with you and Magnus? Sinclair and Michael got married, and you two already have a kid. Why not just tie the knot too?"
Juniper played the message.
Magnus, who was driving, heard it too.
The atmosphere got tense real quick.
Juniper glanced at him and said, "Sinclair and Michael registered their marriage today. Did you see their wedding photos?"
"No," he replied, cold and indifferent.
Ophelia sent another voice message. "Come on, get married too. If it falls apart later, we can always get divorced together. At least we'll have company. Juniper, what are you thinking now? Magnus is back alive. Are you two planning to have a wedding soon?"
After listening to this message, Juniper saw that Magnus still didn't say anything, so she typed a reply to Ophelia: [I don't know what he's thinking.]
Ophelia: [Why? Is Magnus acting all high and mighty? Doesn't he want to get married?]
Juniper bit her lip and looked up at him.
He just frowned slightly, not saying a word.
Ophelia's voice messages were all heard by him, and his silence was a response in itself.
After a few more messages from Ophelia, Juniper put away her phone and didn't open them.
It would only make Magnus's silence seem more like a mockery.
Juniper, being sensible, didn't push the issue, which was her last bit of rationality.
But people were contradictory. Avoiding the question didn't mean the issue was resolved; it only planted seeds of disappointment and made the other person unhappy.
They arrived at Urban Oasis Plaza.
Magnus had just parked the car and hadn't even taken the keys when Juniper got out from the passenger side.
He was stunned for a moment, unbuckled his seatbelt, and quickly got out to catch up with her, grabbing her wrist.
Juniper rarely loses her temper, but tonight she couldn't control herself and shook off his hand.
Ophelia's words had all been heard by him, and Juniper even asked on the side. But his silence was telling.
It was impossible not to be angry unless she didn't love him.
Even if he just coaxed her or lied to her, he didn't bother, so he really didn't plan to marry her, right?
After all, he had said before that he couldn't promise her a future. It was she who kept clinging to him, so he softened his attitude. So, all the talk about settling in Solara was just a lie, right?
"Juniper."
He grabbed her wrist again.
Juniper shook it off once more.
They repeated this a few times in the underground parking lot, and Magnus lost his patience. He frowned and pulled her into his arms.
Juniper struggled fiercely. "Let go of me."
Magnus's heart suddenly ached.
The venom from Venomshade was acting up again.
Magnus held her tightly, his entire weight almost pressing on her shoulders.
He closed his eyes, enduring the pain, and said, "Let's talk about marriage after I finish dealing with my current issues, okay?"
To Juniper, this sounded more like an excuse.
"Who wants to marry you?" Juniper was upset.
But after saying this insincere remark, Juniper's hot tears streamed down her face, likely out of grievance.
