Chapter 186 Concern Led to Chaos
The wound was deep, so deep the flesh turned out a bit.
The bloody mess brought back bad memories for Juniper.
She took a deep breath, her hands moving faster, soaking a cotton ball with iodine and cleaning the wound with tweezers.
She kept her head down, hearing Magnus's faint groans of pain.
Just as Juniper was about to look up, a cool, large hand covered her eyes. Her long lashes brushed against his palm, tickling slightly.
It was Magnus who was injured and bleeding.
But Juniper's face grew paler, and her hand holding the tweezers began to tremble.
Magnus realized that she was blood-sick.
He said, "Just wrap it with gauze, and let the doctor handle it at the hospital."
Juniper nodded, "Okay."
When Magnus withdrew his hand, Juniper saw the bloody wound again, and all the color drained from her face.
She moved quickly, wrapping his wound with clean gauze over and over, her hands never stopping.
Magnus chuckled, "Are you trying to turn me into a mummy?"
Juniper said, "I'm just afraid the blood will start flowing again."
Just like Lyra, who slowly cooled in Juniper's arms back then, the blood from the back of her head kept flowing into her palms, warm and sticky, never stopping.
After wrapping, she tied a bow to secure the gauze.
Once done, she took many tissues to wipe the bloodstains in the car.
The crimson bloodstains were glaring; Juniper couldn't ignore them.
She wiped vigorously, but some spots still had bloodstains no matter how hard she tried. Juniper stubbornly kept wiping back and forth.
The sight of her actions made Magnus' heart tighten painfully.
Santa Maria Hospital, in the emergency room.
The doctor looked at the wound on Magnus' right arm and exclaimed, "How did this happen? Did you run into an enemy? It's so deep! You've severed one or two tendons. Can you still lift this arm? Try lifting it."
Magnus tried lifting it twice but couldn't.
Seeing his struggle, the male doctor calmly said, "Don't bother; it's already useless."
Magnus' face darkened, his eyes narrowing. "Who are you calling useless?"
The male doctor said, "I meant your arm; don't misunderstand."
He was quite good with words.
Magnus sat on the stool.
Juniper stood beside him and asked, "Doctor, if the tendons are injured, will his arm fully recover?"
The male doctor said, "That's uncertain, it mainly depends on the recovery. There might be a slight disability."
"Disability?" Juniper was startled by the word.
The male doctor explained, "It means he might not be able to lift heavy objects, but your husband is so young; it shouldn't be that bad. Young people recover well."
"He's not my..." Juniper hadn't finished her sentence.
Magnus already frowned and impatiently asked the male doctor, "Can you treat it or not?"
The male doctor asked, "Why are you so irritable? I'm examining your wound. With your temper, it's a wonder you managed to get married."
Magnus's face darkened further.
Juniper, afraid of angering the doctor, smiled gently and explained, "Doctor, he lost a lot of blood from the wound earlier; it's probably very painful, so he got worked up easily. Please don't mind."
Juniper's demeanor was calm and polite.
The male doctor looked at her appreciatively and said to Magnus, "Look how considerate your wife is."
Juniper stood aside, her expression slightly uneasy.
She thought, 'This doctor really knows how to tease people.'
The male doctor said, "The wound is so deep; it definitely needs stitches and an injection for inflammation. Let's clean the wound first, then go to the suture room for a few stitches. Follow me."
Juniper supported Magnus as they followed the doctor to the wound cleaning room.
Just as the doctor was about to start, Magnus said, "Wait outside for me."
The injury on his arm was from shielding her from a knife. "Do you really not need me to stay?" she asked, her eyes full of concern.
Magnus's heart softened. He thought, 'If she faints later, how could I get the stitches?'
The cleaning was quick.
Magnus suddenly said, "Go buy me a pack of cigarettes. I didn't bring any today."
Juniper's eyes widened. "Are you seriously thinking about smoking right now?"
Magnus chuckled and lied smoothly, "Nicotine can ease the pain a bit."
Juniper, not knowing any better, believed him. "Okay."
As she was about to leave, Magnus' left hand grabbed her. "Be careful," he instructed.
Juniper nodded. "Okay."
After she left, the doctor cleaned his wound with hydrogen peroxide. "Does it hurt a lot?"
Magnus's face was expressionless. "It's okay, not too painful."
It hurt at first, but after losing a lot of blood, his arm was almost numb. Besides, Magnus wasn't one to fear pain.
The doctor chatted, "So, you just wanted a smoke, huh?"
Magnus's eyes darkened. "She's blood-sick; she can't handle this."
Half an hour later, Magnus' arm had twelve stitches and an injection.
Juniper came back, slightly out of breath. "I went around and finally found the brand you usually smoke."
She handed him the pack. Magnus glanced at it; she had bought the wrong brand. Probably the small shop didn't have his usual one.
"Is this the right one?" Juniper asked.
Magnus nodded. "Yes."
She looked at his arm wrapped in gauze. "Is your arm treated?"
"Yes, it's done. I got an injection, and the doctor said to stay here for half an hour for observation."
They sat on a bench in the hospital corridor.
"How many stitches? It was done so quickly?" Juniper asked.
"Twelve stitches. He's quite skilled, did a good job," Magnus said calmly.
Juniper was shocked, thinking, 'He actually dared to watch the doctor stitch when he was awake?
Magnus put the pack of cigarettes into his pocket.
"Aren't you going to smoke?" Juniper asked.
Magnus smiled slightly. "The local anesthesia hasn't worn off yet; it doesn't hurt now."
"Did the doctor say when the stitches can be removed?" Juniper asked.
"At least half a month, depending on the recovery," Magnus replied.
Half a month. Juniper was thoughtful.
Magnus thought she was worried about delaying the agreement period. "Don't worry; once the one-month period is up, you'll be free."
Whether Juniper believed it or not, this time, he wouldn't force her to stay.
If staying with him always reminded Juniper of those bad memories, he would rather let her go.
