Chapter 195 First Meeting
The video of Isolde stabbing people in the mall got deleted and blocked online, but people were still talking about it.
It backfired.
People left nasty comments on Beaumont's account.
Her videos, usually updated every two days, hadn't been updated for a while.
Lately, Juniper had been taking care of Magnus, but they barely talked. Jenny went to school during the day, making the big villa feel even emptier.
Juniper sat on the sofa, flipping through a small notebook. The one-month deadline she had with Magnus got extended by six days because of his injury.
Time flew by, and the countdown had started.
If all went well, Magnus would get his stitches out next Friday, six days from now.
Juniper crossed off today and closed the diary.
Magnus was working in the study upstairs. He didn't eat much at lunch, so she cut some fruit and brought it up.
Upstairs, Magnus was on the phone with Aria. "A few friends are coming over tonight. You should come too."
Aria sounded indifferent. "Inviting me over suddenly? What's the catch?"
Aria had been treating Magnus for four years.
In those four years, Magnus always went to her clinic and never invited her home.
Magnus admitted, "I need your help with something."
Aria asked, "Is it about Juniper?"
Magnus said, "Yes, I want you to check on her tonight. You mentioned she might have PTSD because of me, and I need you to confirm it."
Aria asked, "That's fine, but does Juniper agree to this? Not everyone is open with psychologists, and tonight's our first meeting. She might not be willing..."
Magnus said, "I want you to hide your identity as a psychologist."
Aria's eyebrows twitched. "What do you mean?"
Magnus replied, "Observe her; assess her."
Aria asked, "Then what identity should I use?"
Magnus said, "Doesn't matter; make one up."
Aria raised an eyebrow, thinking she might as well come up with a provocative identity.
After he hung up, Juniper knocked the door and came in with a fruit platter. "You didn't eat much at lunch, so I cut some fruit."
Magnus said, "Robert and a few others are coming over for dinner tonight, and another friend of mine will be here too."
Juniper nodded. "I'll ask the chef to prepare more dishes. Is Ophelia coming too?"
Magnus replied, "You can ask Ophelia, but she should be coming."
Juniper asked, "Does Robert or your other friend have any dietary restrictions?"
She knew Ophelia's tastes, which were similar to hers. But she didn't know Robert's tastes. And who was this other friend he mentioned?
Magnus said, "Robert doesn't eat tomatoes."
Magnus didn't know if Aria had any dietary restrictions, but Robert had one: no tomatoes.
Juniper couldn't help but be amazed.
Ophelia had mentioned that SY Group liked to gossip about Magnus and Robert's relationship. This rumor now seemed not entirely unfounded.
He even knew Robert's dietary restrictions. It looked like true love.
Juniper went downstairs to instruct the chef to prepare the dishes.
She also texted Ophelia: [Are you coming to Royal View tonight?]
Ophelia replied: [Yes, but Robert and I are going separately. I'm just coming to see you.]
Juniper, curious, asked: [Did you know Mr. Brown doesn't eat tomatoes?]
Ophelia: [Of course not. Why?]
Juniper: [Mr. Blackwood knows Mr. Brown doesn't eat tomatoes.] She added an emoji at the end.
Ophelia: [Amazing! They should just get together already!]
Around 4 PM, Juniper picked Jenny up from school.
By 5 PM, Robert showed up with a fruit basket and a bouquet of flowers.
As soon as they met, Robert shoved the carnations into Magnus's arms, smirking. "Get well soon!"
Magnus immediately tossed the carnations back at Robert. "You brought flowers?"
"I'm just worried about your health. The sooner you recover, the sooner Juniper can go back to Southern City." Robert, being cheeky, continued, "Juniper, don't you agree?"
Juniper smiled lightly. "Mr. Brown, Ophelia will be here soon. She wants to talk to you about the divorce. You've been avoiding her lately, which isn't very nice, is it?"
Robert's mouth twitched, his eyebrows furrowed, and he raised his voice. "Who's avoiding her? Who is she? Am I afraid of her? What haven't I seen?"
Magnus casually remarked, "You haven't seen a divorce."
Robert was speechless.
The chef first prepared a few cold dishes. When Juniper brought them to the table, she heard the sound of an engine in the yard again.
She initially thought it was Ophelia.
Looking up, she saw a familiar yet unfamiliar woman stepping out of a white BMW.
Robert glanced out the floor-to-ceiling window and teased. "Isn't that your new flame?" He looked very curious.
Robert continued, "Magnus, you're amazing, inviting both your old and new flames. This is going to be fun!"
Magnus shot him a cold look. "Get lost."
Aria came in with a basket of fruit and a gift, greeting everyone.
Aria said, "You must be Juniper? Nice to meet you. You're even more beautiful in person than in photos."
She extended her hand to greet Juniper.
Juniper, not being shy, shook her hand. "Hello, and you are?"
Aria said, "My name is Aria Robinson."
Juniper nodded and didn't ask further.
Aria smiled. "It's our first meeting. Aren't you curious about my relationship with Mr. Blackwood?"
Juniper was indifferent. "Since you call him Mr. Blackwood, I guess there's not much of a relationship."
Besides, even if there was a relationship, it had nothing to do with her.
In six days, she and Magnus would be completely done.
Who Aria was to Magnus and what their relationship was, Juniper didn't care.
Aria felt challenged and smiled even more brightly.
She handed the gift to Jenny. "You must be Jenny? Nice to meet you. This is a gift for you."
Jenny looked at Juniper, seeking her permission to accept the gift.
Juniper nodded. "Take it and say thank you."
Jenny obediently took the gift box and thanked her in a sweet voice, "Thank you, Miss."
Aria patted Jenny's little head. "Good girl."
Jenny looked up at Aria and said, "Miss, even though you're very pretty, my dad belongs to my mom, and I don't need a stepmother."
Jenny's face was innocent, but her thoughts were sharp. No wonder she was Magnus's daughter. She was just like him.
Aria squinted and smiled, bending down slightly to say to Jenny, "I have no interest in being a stepmother."
