Chapter 328 Mr. Blackwood, Please Behave Yourself
Karen, always eager for drama, crossed her arms and said, "Mr. Blackwood, at this hour, why are you in Southern City?"
Just as Magnus strode towards Juniper...
Juniper finished vomiting, tilted her head, and leaned on Karen's shoulder.
Magnus was stunned.
Karen nudged her arm, "Hey, wake up, Quinn? Are you dead?"
No matter how she shook her, Juniper wouldn't wake up.
Karen looked up at Magnus, smirking, "Mr. Blackwood, your timing couldn't be worse. My assistant here is probably drunk. Ronald, aren't you going to help her up..."
Before she could finish her sentence.
Magnus had already pulled Juniper off Karen's shoulder and carried her inside.
Karen gave Ronald a disdainful look.
That look seemed to say: 'I gave you a chance, and you blew it.'
Ronald fell silent.
Inside the mansion.
Jenny heard the commotion and ran out of her room, "Dad! Why are you here? What's wrong with Mom?"
"Mom's drunk. Which room is hers?"
"This way!"
Jenny led Magnus to Juniper's room.
Downstairs, Karen lounged on the sofa, having no intention of leaving.
Ronald frowned, "You're not leaving? Planning to stay the night?"
Karen raised an eyebrow, "Why leave when there's a good show? Besides, I have a room in this house too. If you can stay here, why can't I?"
Ronald warned, "Don't play any tricks on Quinn."
Karen laughed as if she heard a joke, "What tricks could I possibly play on my assistant? I'm a woman; am I supposed to fall in love with Quinn? But you, a grown man, always thinking about Quinn, that's really scary!"
"Karen!"
Karen glanced upstairs, "Can't take a joke? Guess what Magnus is doing up there? She's drunk; he wouldn't have such heavy tastes, would he?"
Ronald's face turned cold, and he was about to go upstairs.
Magnus had already come out of Juniper's bedroom.
With all the commotion in the living room.
Christopher also came out of his study. Seeing Magnus, he was visibly surprised for a moment, "Mr. Blackwood, you've come a long way. Jerry, make some tea."
"Yes, Mr. Abbott."
Magnus nodded slightly at Christopher and got straight to the point, "I came to Southern City to take Juniper and Jenny back to the Imperial Capital."
Christopher looked at him and smiled faintly, "Mr. Blackwood, there's no Juniper here, only my daughter Quinn. Southern City and Christopher's Mansion are her home. As for taking her back to the Imperial Capital, I don't quite understand. Mr. Blackwood, what are you to my daughter?"
"I'm her husband."
Christopher took on a paternal tone, "How come I, as her father, didn't know she was married? Did you register your marriage?"
Magnus didn't answer.
On this point, he was indeed at a disadvantage.
Ronald also spoke coldly, "Mr. Blackwood, coming into our Christopher's Mansion uninvited at this hour, isn't that trespassing?"
Christopher wasn't entirely unkind, "Mr. Blackwood, tonight is not a good time. If there's something else to discuss, please come another day. I always remember your life-saving grace, and there are many ways to repay it. I've already had Ronald draft a check to send to your company."
"I don't need that kind of repayment."
"I know, Mr. Blackwood, you don't lack money, but you can't force me to use my daughter to repay you, can you? One thing at a time, I won't force Quinn to do something she doesn't want to."
Magnus chuckled, "Mr. Abbott, how do you know she doesn't want to?"
Karen chimed in coldly, "If she was willing, she wouldn't be pretending to be drunk. Mr. Blackwood, Quinn won't go back to the Imperial Capital with you. She's just started working on Windsor Group's business and signed a deal with me today."
The Abbotts naturally sided with their own.
Internal conflicts were one thing, but when an outsider was present, they would always present a united front.
Paul, standing beside Magnus, sensed the situation was not in their favor.
He whispered, "Mr. Blackwood, it seems we can't take Ms. Beaumont today. Perhaps we should leave for now? When Ms. Beaumont wakes up, we might have a better chance."
Magnus reined in his sharpness and simply said, "I won't take her, but she's drunk. Can I stay to take care of her?"
He couldn't afford to offend anyone in this house.
Magnus had the power to forcibly take Juniper, but with her father, brother, and sister all standing in his way, offending them would make the marriage difficult.
Christopher took the lead, "Christopher's Mansion doesn't allow outsiders to stay overnight. However, Mr. Blackwood has done me a favor, so I can have Karen arrange an executive suite for you at the Shilla Hotel."
"No need."
Magnus was rarely refused.
But tonight, the situation was exceptionally unfavorable for him.
He turned, intending to go upstairs to check on Juniper one more time.
Ronald blocked him at the staircase, "Mr. Blackwood, please behave yourself."
Magnus clenched his fists, his cold eyes like knives.
But Ronald didn't budge, "When Quinn wakes up in the morning, if she wants to see you, she'll contact you. Mr. Blackwood, you should leave now!"
Magnus, the uninvited guest, left the house but didn't go far.
He got into his black luxury car, which remained near Christopher's Mansion.
Ronald said, "Dad, Magnus hasn't left. Should I get some people to make him leave?"
Christopher smiled faintly, "If he wants to wait, let him. I want to see how sincere he is."
Ronald nodded, his tone extremely serious, "This time, we can't let Quinn go back to the Imperial Capital with him so easily."
Upstairs.
Juniper propped herself up on her arms and sat up.
Jenny's eyes widened, "Mom, you're not drunk!"
Juniper put a finger to her lips, "Shh, keep it down. Has your dad left?"
She had vomited all over herself and reeked of alcohol, desperately needing a shower.
Jenny ran to the staircase and peeked downstairs. The living room was empty, and the front door was closed.
She ran back and said, "No one's there."
Juniper grabbed her pajamas and headed to the bathroom.
She soaked in the bathtub for a long time before her alcohol-numbed thoughts began to clear.
Coming out of the bathroom, Juniper dried her hair and turned on her phone.
A flood of missed calls came in.
Juniper's eyes dimmed a bit as she held her phone, lost in thought.
In the children's room.
Jenny pulled up her little blanket, ready to sleep.
Her watch phone rang.
It was her dad calling.
She answered, "Hello, Dad? Did you leave?"
"How's your mom?"
Jenny honestly replied, "She's awake. Mom's fine; she wasn't drunk."
Magnus was momentarily stunned.
He looked up at her darkened window from the car.
After a few more words with Jenny, he hung up.
He instructed Paul, "Drive back to the hotel."
"What about Ms. Beaumont..."
"She doesn't want to see me now. We'll talk when she's sober tomorrow."
Paul said, "Ms. Beaumont has some misunderstandings about you. If she knew..."
But Magnus was more worried that if Juniper really intended to take over Windsor Group, the chances of her returning to the Imperial Capital with him would be even lower.
He didn't want to stop her from inheriting Windsor Group.
But as a person with feelings, he ultimately had his own selfish desires.
