Chapter 355 Is He Really That Much of a Jerk?
Magnus lowered his eyes to look at her, a teasing smile playing on his lips. "Bed-warming service costs extra."
Juniper lifted her eyelids and asked, "How much?"
"Charged by the minute, and my time is $1,000 per minute."
"So expensive?"
Magnus raised his hand and lightly tapped her perky nose. "But if you're willing to marry me, it's free."
Juniper reached into the inner pocket of his coat, found his wallet, and pulled out a black card, flashing it in front of him. "Charge it."
Magnus pinched her chin, leaned in close, indulgently. "Alright, how long do you want the bed warmed?"
Juniper actually glanced at the time. It was 5 AM, and sleeping until 8 AM would be three hours.
She slapped the black card into his palm. "Charge three hours first."
Magnus took off his coat, went to the bathroom for a hot shower, and then lifted the covers to get in.
Juniper was suddenly embraced from behind.
He was very warm.
That chest was also very cozy.
Juniper couldn't help but snuggle closer to the heat source.
Magnus's arm wrapped around her waist, his large hand holding her slightly cool hands. "Why not stay at a better hotel?"
This hotel was quite average, the heating wasn't warm enough, and the bed wasn't soft enough.
Juniper said, "Mainly because it's close to the building materials factory. There aren't any high-end hotels nearby. And we're not here for a vacation; we're here on a business trip."
She was very cold.
Magnus whispered in her ear, "Should I take off my pajamas so you can warm up?"
Juniper blushed. "No."
Magnus knowingly asked, nibbling her ear, "Why not? It would be warmer without pajamas."
His voice was husky.
Juniper glared at him, thinking he was up to no good. "The doctor said no intercourse for four weeks after a miscarriage."
Magnus chuckled lowly, already getting up to take off his pajamas.
When he got back under the covers, he brought a slight chill with him, but soon, his body pressed against Juniper's was burning hot.
Magnus kissed her ear, teasing, "What are you thinking? Am I that much of a jerk?"
He grabbed her cold little hand and pressed it against his abs.
Looking down, he asked her, "Is it warm?"
Once Juniper touched him, she couldn't let go. She turned over and hugged him voluntarily.
She buried her head in his chest.
So warm.
She smiled in his arms.
This bed-warming service, though expensive, was worth every penny.
With the lights off, Juniper's touch was so uninhibited that Magnus's muscles were visibly tense.
Yet, Juniper was completely unaware.
After touching him, she turned over and curled up in his arms, dozing off.
Magnus could hardly stand it. He grabbed her hand and whispered hoarsely in her ear, "There's an even warmer place. Want to touch it?"
Juniper's sleepiness vanished, and she was mostly awake.
She wanted to say no.
But Magnus was already guiding her hand downward...
Then he kissed her. "Juniper, with your hand?"
Juniper was dazed, trapped in his arms, not knowing how long it lasted. Her previously cold body even had beads of sweat on her nose.
He just used her hand to take care of things.
By around 6 AM, the sky outside was starting to lighten.
Juniper finally fell into a groggy sleep in his arms. Magnus held her tightly, his large hand gently caressing her flat stomach, planting a tender kiss on the back of her neck.
That sleep was deep.
She had stayed up too late, and when the alarm went off, Juniper groggily turned it off.
Until there was an urgent knock on the door outside.
"Quinn! Are you awake?"
Juniper was woken by the noise outside. After a moment of daze, she quickly sat up.
But as soon as she sat up, she suddenly realized she was naked, not a stitch of clothing on her.
Only then did she remember that Magnus was still lying next to her.
Her mind went blank for a few seconds before the heavy knocking on the door sounded again.
Juniper quickly moved the arm draped across her waist, wrapped herself in a robe, and went to open the door.
She was flustered. "Overslept, sorry. I'll wash up quickly, give me ten minutes."
Karen immediately noticed the hickey on her neck.
Karen peeked into the room with a gossipy look, her eyes flashing with admiration. "Quite bold, hiring a male model behind Magnus's back at the hotel?"
Juniper quickly blocked the door frame, smiling awkwardly. "Ms. Abbott, you misunderstood."
Karen patted her shoulder with a knowing smile. "We're all adults here. I get it. I won't spill about your private life."
Juniper forced a smile. "Thank you."
Finally getting rid of the gossipy Karen, Juniper closed the door and rushed into the bathroom to wash up.
It took no more than ten minutes before she quickly changed and left the room.
Completely forgetting that Magnus was still lying in the bed.
At 9 AM, Juniper followed Karen to the building materials factory.
They had just started inspecting when Karen was about to explode.
Looking at a room full of building materials, Karen sneered, "You say these are the recently rejected materials?"
The assembly line manager, Levi Morgan, skillfully shirked responsibility. "Ms. Abbott, actually, every building materials factory has a lot of non-compliant materials that get rejected. These materials can't be sold again and have to be thrown away. You might not be familiar with frontline operations, but this is normal waste."
He spoke vaguely, trying to brush it off.
After all, these two young girls in front of him looked barely in their twenties. How could they possibly know these things?
They were probably just sent by headquarters to make a show and intimidate them.
Karen's face turned stern, her eyebrows raised. "Is this a month's worth of waste?"
Levi remained unfazed, smiling obsequiously. "Ms. Abbott, you're joking. This is a day's waste. We have some old equipment, so lower productivity is normal."
Juniper frowned and asked, "Headquarters allocates so much funding to the factory every year. Why not buy new equipment?"
Levi hadn't even started to speak.
Juniper interrupted him. "Levi, I'm Quinn, Ms. Abbott's assistant."
Levi clicked his tongue, thinking she had quite the presence. "Quinn, you might not know, but new equipment costs millions of dollars. Replacing everything would be very expensive. With the high labor costs for assembly line workers and this waste, replacing equipment would be a huge expense. Where would the money come from?"
Karen smirked. "Is it just because of the equipment? How do you store your raw materials? Take us to see."
Levi continued to bluff. "Ms. Abbott, the raw materials storage is very dirty. You two young ladies are dressed so cleanly. You'll come out with black coats instead of white ones. Do you really want to go?"
Juniper bluntly said, "Levi, are you afraid to take us there because you're hiding something?"
"What would I be hiding? I'm just worried about dirtying your clothes."
Juniper said, "Ms. Abbott likes black coats. It doesn't matter."
Karen tilted her head, signaling, "Lead the way, Levi."
