Chapter 119: Cemetery Reunion
Two hours later, the plane landed in the Imperial Capital. The Windsor Group had a branch in the Imperial Capital, and the branch manager sent a driver to the airport to pick them up.
However, since this trip was private, Ronald only borrowed the car. Ronald drove it himself, and they quickly arrived at the Southern Cemetery.
The car pulled into the parking lot. Juniper said, "Ronald, I can go up by myself, you wait in the car."
"Okay, call me if you need anything."
Juniper walked up to Lyra's grave and placed the bouquet of daisies in front of the tombstone. "Mom, I'm back, alive. I originally wanted to follow you to see God, but I didn't die.
"Sometimes, I still can't control the urge of wanting to die, but I've been trying to control my emotions by taking medication.
"Mom, Alexander and Dashiell are both in prison. Alexander was sentenced to life imprisonment. You and he were once a couple. I wonder what your feelings would be if you were still here. I no longer hate him, nor can I say I forgive him. It seems like we've come to this point today, all thanks to Alexander. But I no longer have the strength to hate anymore."
Juniper spoke to Lyra's tombstone for a long time. As she was about to leave, she suddenly looked up and saw another tombstone next to Lyra's. The photo on the tombstone was actually her own.
There were several words engraved on the tombstone. "The grave of my wife, Juniper." Signed, husband Magnus.
Her heart raced and trembled suddenly. Magnus had arranged a grave for her and placed her next to Lyra.
Just as Juniper's mind went blank, a familiar tall figure appeared not far away, tall and distinguished in demeanor.
Magnus.
Juniper's breath almost stopped. He held a bouquet of yellow roses and walked toward her step by step. Almost instinctively, she wanted to escape. She grabbed the bouquet of daisies from in front of Lyra's tombstone and hid behind a few rows of tombstones.
The greenery here was well done, filled with Norfolk Island pines. It was summer again, and those Norfolk Island pines were lush. She crouched behind those trees, peeking through the tiny gaps, watching the figure approach her tombstone.
Magnus placed the bouquet of yellow roses in front of her tombstone. Then he reached out and touched her tombstone.
The language of yellow roses, when used between lovers, did not carry good meanings. It symbolized apologies, separations, and a love that ends in death. She glanced at Magnus's back, her heart tightening with pain.
Suddenly, her phone rang. Her ringtone echoed.
Magnus, standing in front of the tombstone, naturally heard it and turned around.
Startled, Juniper immediately hung up the phone and set it to silent mode. It was Ronald calling. Magnus, always alert, heard the phone ring but didn't see anyone. He walked toward the rows of tombstones where Juniper was hiding.
Closer and closer.
Juniper swallowed, feeling the suffocating sensation in her chest again. She was finding it harder and harder to breathe.
Just as Magnus was about to approach, she gathered the courage to stand up.
Suddenly, Ronald's voice rang out. "Magnus?"
Magnus turned around and saw Ronald holding a phone. Was that Ronald's phone that was ringing just now?
"Why are you here?"
Ronald spoke calmly. "I have a relative buried here. I happened to be on a business trip to the Imperial Capital branch this time, so I came to visit. Magnus, are you here to visit someone as well?"
Magnus nodded slightly, "I came to see my wife."
"I heard rumors that you had a deceased wife, your first love. I thought these were just rumors, but it turns out they are true. It seems that you're also a sentimental person."
Magnus, always aloof, was not very familiar with Ronald. After a brief conversation, he fell silent.
When Magnus left the cemetery area, Ronald cleared his throat. "Come out, he's gone."
Juniper's tense nerves finally relaxed. She breathed a sigh of relief and slowly stood up. "Ronald, you came just in time. Otherwise, I really don't know how I'd face him."
Although they were just looking at each other's backs from a distance, it was enough to make her emotions collapse in an instant after a year of recovery. They had hurt each other, leaving deep marks in each other's hearts. Even with a good mindset, when they met again, Juniper still trembled all over.
In just a moment, her limbs were cold, and her face was pale. Ronald looked at her worriedly. "You haven't fully recovered yet, your complexion is very poor. Do you want to go to the hospital?"
She shook her head gently, "It's just nerves."
"Let's go, Magnus is very suspicious. I'm afraid he might come back."
Juniper nodded and followed Ronald down the mountain. In the car, her restless heart finally settled down.
Ronald asked, "Are you going back to Lindwood City this afternoon? If you are, I'll book the plane tickets now."
In her current state, she could not bear to meet Magnus. But since she was already in the Imperial Capital, she also wanted to see Jennifer.
After a moment of silence, Ronald probably understood. "You want to see the child?"
"Yes, but I don't want to face Magnus."
Ronald understood her dilemma and her feelings, but it was difficult to avoid Magnus if she wanted to see the child. Even the clever Ronald couldn't think of a better solution. They couldn't just sneak the child out.
Juniper calmly said, "Ronald, if you need to hurry back to Lindwood City, you can go first. I'll stay in the Imperial Capital for a few days to calm down, and then I'll go see Jennifer."
"You're in this state now, I'm definitely worried. I'll stay with you. Besides, there are some work matters at the group's branch here in the Imperial Capital that I need to deal with, so staying here for a few days is fine."
Ronald booked a room at the Banyan Tree Hotel. The car headed toward the hotel. On the way, Ronald glanced at her and hesitantly asked, "Were you married to Magnus?"
"No, I'm not his wife. We used to be in a relationship, but we broke up. I don't know why he would say I'm his wife, maybe because I'm the mother of the child."
Ronald nodded. He breathed a sigh of relief. "When we get to the hotel, you should rest first. I'll figure out a way for you to see the child."
"Ronald, thank you. I always make things hard for you and Christopher."
"You're already recognized as Christopher's daughter, we're like family now. It's nothing."
Meanwhile, in the president's office at SY Group, Magnus had just returned from the cemetery when Joseph came over with some documents.
"Magnus, the Dream Back to New York game is about to launch, but the singer for the theme song has not been decided yet. The planning department has launched a vote online to select several popular internet singers. Could you take a look?"
"Let the game department and planning department decide on such trivial matters themselves."
"But there's a singer in there who sounds a lot like Juniper, and I was quite surprised when I heard it."
Magnus's eyes narrowed, "Juniper?"
"Yes, Juniper."
Magnus reached out and snatched the documents from Joseph. "What's the name of the singer who sounds like Juniper?"
"Harper Beaumont."
"Do you have a photo?"
Joseph shook his head. "No, this internet singer suddenly became popular six months ago. She has never shown her face online, always singing behind the scenes. But because her voice is so beautiful, she has become famous online pretty quickly."
"Which company is she affiliated with?"
Joseph shook his head again. "She's quite mysterious. I checked, many record companies and entertainment companies wanted to sign her, but they were all rejected. Currently, she's still a free agent. Magnus, do you want to find her?"
