Chapter 395 Banquet (2)

Magnus smiled faintly and said, "I don't think I'll ever get past Juniper."

Ethan couldn't help but feel sorry for Magnus. "You're so stubborn. Why bother?"

"Ethan, when Juniper and I have our wedding, I want you to be the officiant."

Magnus's voice was calm as he dropped this bombshell.

Ethan's eyes widened in disbelief. "What? Did I hear that right? You and Juniper... are back together?"

At that moment, Juniper came out of the restroom.

When Ethan saw her, his eyes widened even more. "You're not joking?"

Magnus raised an eyebrow. "When have I ever joked about getting married?"

He reached out his hand to Juniper.

Juniper naturally placed her hand in his.

Seeing Ethan, Juniper was also taken aback. "Mr. Martinez?"

Ethan smiled warmly, always the kind-hearted one. "Juniper, you still remember me! It's been eight years, hasn't it? Magnus finally gave in to you! Congratulations!"

Magnus corrected him, "It's not that I gave in to her; she finally agreed to marry me."

Ethan teased, "Juniper, Magnus just said he wants me to be the officiant at your wedding. Is that true?"

Juniper looked at Magnus, a bit surprised. "Sure, you'd be perfect for the role."

Back when they were dating, it was under Ethan's watchful eye.

Ethan had always been optimistic about the two of them.

He even claimed that if they ever got married and needed money for a house, he would help out.

He was really good to Magnus, like a father, but also like a big brother.

Juniper liked him a lot too.

The three of them entered a private room.

The school anniversary banquet had about ten tables.

But Eugene had called a few close friends to sit at the inner table, planning to have a drink and catch up after making the rounds.

Plus, Ethan and the other teachers were more academic types who didn't like socializing, so they stayed away from the ten tables of elite alumni.

This inner table was more like a family table, all close friends.

Once everyone was seated, the meal began.

Eugene went to the main hall to give a thank-you speech, while Ethan and the others, who were close to Magnus, had already started pouring drinks.

Juniper sat next to Magnus, the only woman at the table.

Ethan poured her a drink and smiled, "Juniper, would you like some?"

Magnus intervened, "She's allergic to alcohol, she can't drink."

Ethan said, "Alright, then have some juice."

The meal hadn't started yet.

Magnus leaned over and said to her, "I'm going to buy something."

Juniper didn't know what he was going to buy, but he had already gotten up and left the room.

Juniper loved coconut juice, but there wasn't any at the table.

Magnus had seen a vending machine on the first floor when he arrived.

So he went to buy two bottles of coconut juice.

Just as he was about to head back upstairs with the drinks, a female voice called out from behind him, "Magnus?"

Magnus turned around at the sound.

He didn't recognize her.

Clio's eyes lit up with joy when she saw Magnus. "Magnus, it's really you! I thought I wouldn't see you today!"

Magnus frowned slightly. "Who are you?"

"I'm Clio! I've changed a lot, so you probably don't recognize me. I used to be in the same dorm as Juniper! We often ate together."

She was very enthusiastic.

But Magnus was never one to warm up to strangers easily, so he just nodded distantly. "Sorry, I'm face-blind."

Clio used to be plain; she didn't want Magnus to remember that!

It was better if Magnus didn't remember!

As long as he remembered her beautiful self now, that was enough!

Magnus turned to go upstairs.

Clio, in her high heels, caught up to him and pulled a business card from her bag, handing it to him. "Magnus, this is my business card!"

Magnus paused.

Clio's eyes sparkled with anticipation, waiting to see what he would say next.

Magnus turned back and asked calmly, "Did you say you were Juniper's dorm mate?"

"Yes, do you remember me now?"

Magnus definitely didn't remember, but out of respect for Juniper, he took the business card.

But his reaction was still very cold.

He just nodded at Clio, acknowledging her.

Magnus pushed the door open and returned to the private room.

Clio stood there, her red lips curling higher and higher.

She had finally given her business card to Magnus!

This was the first time Magnus had really looked at her.

After all, she was no longer the ugly duckling she used to be. The current Clio was beautiful and confident.

Magnus, after all, was a normal man.

Men would always take a few more glances at a beauty like her.

Thinking of this, Clio's heart was filled with joy.

She opened her compact and lipstick, touching up her makeup in the mirror.

After making sure her makeup was flawless, she unbuttoned the top two buttons of her fitted knit top under her coat.

She had a fuller figure, and the knit top under her open coat accentuated her curves. With two buttons undone, a slight bend would reveal a hint of cleavage.

She strutted into the hall in her high heels, feeling triumphant.

Her purpose here was simple: to meet elites.

Magnus was undoubtedly an elite among elites.

She wanted to get close to him, but she couldn't rush it.

Since she had met Magnus once, there would be a second and third time...

Clio had come with Electra.

Electra and her father were seated at another table, while Clio was placed at an empty spot in the corner.

She thought for a moment and sent a message to Juniper.

Meanwhile, in the private room.

Magnus returned with two bottles of coconut juice, opened one, and poured it into Juniper's glass.

Juniper laughed, "You went out just to buy this?"

She could drink juice just fine.

Ethan was surprised. "Juniper likes coconut juice? You should have said something earlier. Eugene didn't prepare enough drinks!"

Juniper said, "It's fine, juice is just as good."

Magnus casually tossed the business card on the table.

Juniper saw it. "Clio?"

Magnus responded, "I ran into her outside. She said she was your dorm mate and gave me a business card. I took it out of respect for you."

Juniper didn't think much of it, assuming Clio just wanted to expand her network. She said, "She lent me money before. She's alright."

Magnus smiled but said nothing, only asking her quietly, "Can I drink?"

Juniper looked at his glass. "You've already filled it, and you're asking?"

Magnus played innocent. "I'll just have a little. Thank you in advance for driving me home tonight."

Juniper was speechless.

After Eugene returned from his speech, their table got a bit lively.

With a table full of men drinking and Juniper not drinking, it wasn't very interesting for her.

After a while, someone started smoking.

Magnus was about to say something when Juniper said, "I'm going out for some fresh air."

The room was indeed filled with the smell of smoke and alcohol.

Magnus said, "I'll go with you."

"No need, I'm not a child who needs supervision."

Having him accompany her all the time would make her seem overly delicate.

Juniper took her coat, greeted the people at the table, and politely left.

She finally had a chance to check her phone and saw Clio's message.

[I just ran into Magnus! He took my business card! But I haven't seen his fiancée yet! When I do, I'll secretly take a photo for you!]
