Chapter 251 Acting Spoiled
Magnus raised his hand and gently ruffled her hair. "I'm not going anywhere. I'll head back to Royal View with you."
There was still a mountain of stuff at SY that needed his attention.
But Juniper and Jenny needed him more.
He hoped that even if he wasn't around, they could still live peaceful lives.
Juniper thought he had finally come around. She hugged his waist, smiled a bit, and said, "Alright, I'll trust you this time."
Magnus went to check out of the hotel.
After packing up, Juniper grabbed her bag and the prayer book and left the room.
In the hotel corridor, she saw him walking towards her.
He really hadn't left.
For some reason, she ran towards him despite her injured ankle, crashing into his arms and hugging him tightly. Her bag and the prayer book fell to the ground.
Magnus stiffened a bit. "Juniper?"
Sensing her unease, he reached out to hold her, wrapping his arms around her back. They stood there, embracing for a while longer.
Juniper calmed down in his arms, clutching his shirt at his waist, and looked up at him. "My ankle hurts a bit."
Her voice was soft and sweet, almost like she was being playful.
Juniper hadn't been playful with him in a long time.
He gently brushed her cheek with his thumb, finally giving in. He picked up the bag and the prayer book with one hand and lifted her with the other arm.
"Why'd you bring the prayer book?" he asked.
Juniper wrapped her arms around his neck and said bluntly, "You wrote it for me. I want to keep it as a memento. Can't I take it with me?"
"Of course you can."
But these mementos would eventually become bullets that pierced her heart.
Things that were too sweet, once lost, would bring unbearable pain.
Juniper had a stomachache, and Magnus drove.
By the time they got to Mission Hills Villa, it was already three in the afternoon.
When Magnus showed up, Jenny exclaimed.
"Daddy, you're not dead?"
The little one stared at Magnus with wide eyes, unable to believe what she was seeing.
Even Ophelia was startled.
She tugged at Juniper's sleeve, scrutinizing Magnus, and whispered, "Juniper, is he a ghost?"
Juniper couldn't help but laugh. "Where would a ghost come from?"
"Is this why you're in a better mood?" Ophelia suddenly understood.
Juniper nodded. "Yep."
Jenny timidly reached out a chubby finger and poked Magnus. Her eyes lit up. "Mommy! My finger didn't go through! I can't touch ghosts! He's really Daddy!"
Magnus frowned slightly and rubbed the little one's head. "Who are you calling a ghost? Have you been good while I was away?"
"Yep! I behaved very well!"
She stretched out her little arms.
Magnus bent down and picked her up.
Jenny reached out her little hand and pinched Magnus's handsome face. "Daddy is really alive!"
Magnus felt a bit helpless.
"Daddy, where have you been these days? Why didn't you come back? Mommy and I turned off the lights at home and lit a lot of candles. Mommy said that way you could come back. Why didn't you come back until now?" Jenny spoke innocently.
Magnus, however, knew what Juniper's actions meant.
"Don't light candles at home anymore. It's a fire hazard and not safe, understand?"
These words were directed at Jenny, but they seemed more like they were meant for Juniper.
Juniper said, "Now that you're back, we naturally won't light them anymore."
Robert teased, "You two better take Jenny home. I played with her at the amusement park all day yesterday, and I was wiped out. Kids this age never stop talking. This morning, she made me play games with her again. Jenny, don't you ever get tired?"
"Obviously, you just don't have good stamina! I never get tired!" Jenny shot back, teasing him.
"Who doesn't have good stamina? Who carried you on their shoulders to watch the show yesterday? Now that you have your real dad, you've forgotten about me!"
"Why are you arguing with a kid? You played with me for just one day and got tired. What will you do when you and Ophelia have your own baby?" Jenny said.
Robert and Ophelia immediately looked embarrassed.
Jenny really had no filter.
But Ophelia and Robert were on the same page about this. Since they got married, they hadn't planned on having kids.
And with the divorce dragging on, having a child was even less likely now.
In the afternoon, Magnus had a private business chat with Robert. Jenny had to go home to do her homework, so they didn't stay for dinner.
The family of three headed back to Royal View.
Once home, Magnus went straight to the study to tackle the pile of work waiting for him.
Jenny brought her homework and a big glass jar to the study.
She frowned and complained, "Daddy, why are you working as soon as you get back? You don't even talk to Mommy and me. Where have you been these days? Mommy cried so much."
Hearing this, Magnus paused and stopped his work.
He closed his laptop and looked at Jenny by his side. "What's that in your hand?"
Jenny proudly placed the big glass jar on the desk, grinning. "These are paper stars that Mommy and I folded by hand. There are a thousand of them! We folded them for many days. Daddy, they're for you!"
"Why'd you think of folding paper stars? Have you been neglecting your homework just to fold these?"
Folding so many must have taken a lot of time.
Jenny, like a little adult, lectured, "Daddy, how can you say that? This is a token of our love. It's not that I don't want to do my homework and have fun. My hands hurt from folding these. It's even harder than doing homework!"
Magnus didn't know the significance of paper stars and asked, "Why fold these?"
Jenny looked up and said, "Mommy said that whenever we miss you, we fold a paper star. And we wrote our wishes on each one."
Magnus was stunned. He opened the jar, took out a few paper stars, and carefully unfolded them.
One note read: [Daddy, be safe.]
The handwriting was crooked and a bit cute.
He rubbed Jenny's head and chuckled. "Didn't I tell you to practice your handwriting? Why is it still so messy?"
Jenny pouted. "That's not the point! Daddy, open another one! There's one from Mommy too!"
He unfolded another one, which showed: [Magnus, be safe.]
The handwriting was elegant and beautiful, Juniper's handwriting.
Magnus's eyes softened, deeply moved.
Jenny leaned on the desk, getting closer to Magnus. "Daddy, Mommy missed you a lot. You proposed to her before, and she didn't agree. But I think if you propose now, Mommy will definitely say yes! She even put on the ring you gave her again!"
"Propose?"
Jenny nodded vigorously. "Yes! With that beautiful pink diamond! Daddy, didn't you always want to propose to Mommy? Now Mommy will definitely agree. She missed you so much while you were gone. Did you see all the messages she sent you?"
Juniper stood outside the study, holding a plate of fruit. Hearing this, she paused before knocking on the door.
