Chapter 330 Visiting to Propose

Magnus nodded slightly, pondered for a moment, and suddenly asked, "What do you think I should bring as a gift?"

Paul said, "Given your status and wealth, just bringing a few bottles of good wine and cigarettes might seem a bit disrespectful to the Abbotts. Plus, with the Windsor Group being such a large corporation, I think you can bring something more valuable. However, it mainly depends on whether you are willing to show that attitude."

Magnus was naturally not one to be stingy.

But what should he bring?

These easily purchasable gifts with clear price tags wouldn't impress Christopher, let alone move him.

Paul coughed twice and gave a hint, "Moreover, Mr. Blackwood, to put it bluntly, you're not just marrying Juniper; you're marrying Quinn, the sole heir of the Windsor Group. Realistically speaking, Christopher is not just vetting a son-in-law; your marriage to his daughter would shock the business world. It's not just Mr. Abbott; even the Windsor Group's top executives might have concerns. Business and political marriages are beneficial for development, but a business-to-business marriage involves too many interests. If it infringes on one party's interests, wouldn't they have to set aside the marriage and each go their own way?"

Magnus had naturally considered what Paul said before coming to Southern City, and Christopher must have also considered them, too.

Christopher's reluctance to let Quinn go clearly indicated a consideration for a power shift.

He wanted Juniper to inherit the Windsor Group and become its true leader.

Juniper marrying him and returning to the Imperial Capital would mean the Windsor Group losing its true heir, which was not a good thing.

He lowered his eyes, his fingers turning the platinum ring on his ring finger.

To him, Juniper was just his love.

Selfishly, he wanted Juniper to stay by his side, just like seven years ago.

For Juniper, being Christopher's daughter was a blessing.

But as Christopher's only daughter, and with Christopher intending to groom Juniper for leadership, the possibility of Juniper returning to the Imperial Capital with him was even lower.

The Windsor Group's headquarters had been in Southern City for thirty years; relocating the headquarters was almost impossible.

Magnus looked at the platinum ring on his finger, a hint of selfishness in his eyes, "What do you think are the chances of Juniper giving up the Windsor Group's management and returning to the Imperial Capital with me?"

"Well..." Paul was a bit troubled, "It's hard to say. It depends on what Ms. Beaumont prefers. But Mr. Abbott only has one daughter. Asking her to give up the Windsor Group's management is like indirectly changing the group's ownership. Even if she holds shares, she would forever lose decision-making power."

Perhaps the topic was too deep, and the pressure in the car gradually dropped.

Paul tried to lighten the mood, smiling, "Actually, even if Ms. Beaumont takes over the Windsor Group, it's not a big deal. The flight between the Imperial Capital and Southern City is just over two hours now. Long-distance relationships aren't that bad. Many couples live this way because both are busy with their careers. Distance can create beauty; maybe their relationship will get even better."

In the back seat, Magnus's eyes darkened noticeably.

Magnus wanted to spend far more time with Juniper than just weekends.

Perhaps it wasn't that Juniper couldn't leave him, but that he couldn't leave Juniper.

The one who seemingly controlled the relationship might appear to have all the power, but if the controlled party decided to give up completely, the controller would be thrown into chaos.

The next morning.

Juniper got up early, ate two pieces of toast, and prepared to go to the company.

Jerry was puzzled, "Ms. Abbott, the company starts at nine. It's not even eight yet. Why not sleep a bit more?"

Juniper grabbed her car keys and vaguely said, "It's my first day at the company; it's always good to be early. Jerry, I'm off!"

The white Mercedes had just left Christopher's Mansion when a black luxury car came into view.

Jerry then realized and smiled as he made tea.

Christopher, holding a cane, came downstairs, "Where is Quinn?"

"Ms. Abbott just left. Mr. Abbott, look who's at the door."

Christopher looked up and saw a tall figure walking towards the yard.

He smiled and couldn't help but tease, "Quinn leaves, and he arrives right after. Do young people time things so well these days?"

Jerry, while pouring tea, glanced out the window, "Indeed, a real strategist. Mr. Abbott, if he's well-prepared today, how should we handle it?"

Christopher paced in the living room and said in a deep voice, "We'll play it by ear."

"What if he tries to force it?"

Magnus was known for his ruthless and aggressive tactics in business, with a track record of success.

If he wanted something, he would stop at nothing.

Being unscrupulous had almost become his trademark.

A formidable businessman, but not the ideal son-in-law in the eyes of a father.

Christopher raised an eyebrow, "He wouldn't dare."

As Magnus entered the yard, the people behind him carrying gifts followed in.

Paul directed, "This way, be careful with the fine wine and antiques. Don't break anything!"

The ten or so bodyguards in black suits lined up at the entrance.

Jerry went out to check, "What are you doing?"

Magnus took a step forward and said, "Here to propose."

Jerry was stunned, clearly taken aback.

Paul quietly reminded, "Mr. Blackwood, mind your tone."

Magnus took a deep breath and nodded slightly, "Jerry, I'm here to discuss the marriage with Mr. Abbott."

His voice was still cold, but this time, it had a hint of respect.

Jerry was a bit puzzled.

Inside, Christopher had already spoken, "Jerry, let him in."

Jerry responded and made a gesture, "Mr. Blackwood, this way, please."

Paul asked, "Jerry, where should we put these things?"

Jerry led the group to the living room, "Just put them here for now."

The ten or so people neatly placed the items down, greeted, and then orderly exited the living room.

Christopher, wearing glasses, stood by the display window, looking at a painting.

Magnus walked up to him and greeted, "Mr. Abbott, sorry, I was rude last night. It's my first visit, and I'm not familiar with the customs."

Hearing this, Christopher was stunned for a few seconds.

He glanced at Magnus and said, "You came at the wrong time. Quinn has already gone to the company."

"I'm not here to see her. I came specifically to visit you, Mr. Abbott."

Upon hearing this, Christopher looked at the tea table and called out, "Jerry, we have a distinguished guest. Change the tea!"

"Got it!"

Paul, standing aside, held back a laugh.

Magnus had taken his advice today, and now they were drinking the best tea.

After Jerry brewed the new tea.

Christopher and Magnus sat facing each other.

Christopher suddenly asked, "Do you play Go?"

Magnus replied, "A little. I can play a game with you."

"Jerry, bring that set of Go pieces."

"Sure!"
