Chapter 256 Who Did You Learn This From?
Juniper chuckled at Jenny. "Which friend said that?"
"Claire from the next class. She said girls shouldn't try to please men because it's undignified! Mom, you shouldn't try to please Dad! Claire also said that women who feel sorry for men will end up miserable! Mom, I don't want you to be miserable!" Jenny earnestly advised Juniper.
Juniper burst out laughing. "You're just a kid, where did you hear all this stuff?"
Were first graders this mature these days?
Jenny replied, "It was Claire's mom. A lot of boys in our class like Claire."
Juniper patted her little head. "You're so cute, do any boys like you?"
"I don't like them. They're either too short, too fat, or not good-looking! They better not like me because I don't like them! Once you've seen a handsome guy, you can't settle for less," Jenny answered.
Juniper laughed and pinched her little nose. "Where did you see a handsome guy?"
"Dad! And Robert is also handsome, but Robert likes to argue with girls, so he loses points for that. No wonder Ophelia wants to divorce Robert."
Juniper was surprised. "You know about that?"
Jenny nodded. "Yes! Robert and Ophelia took me to the amusement park, and they argued the whole way. It was so annoying. They were so immature that I had to tell them to stop arguing."
"They argued about getting a divorce?"
"Yes! Ophelia said they should get divorced quickly, and Robert said if they can't live together, they should separate. Mom, will Robert and Ophelia really get divorced?"
Juniper thought the issue of Robert and Ophelia's divorce was long over, but it seemed they were still arguing.
"I don't know," Juniper replied.
Jenny looked puzzled and spread her little hands helplessly. "But after they argue, they make up after a while. I don't know who to help."
The emotions of adulthood existed on a spectrum, where love and hate were not always clearly defined.
Intense love could hide hurt, disappointment, and pain, while hate often accompanied love.
The true nature of adult emotions resided in the hazy boundaries between love and hate, where clarity was absent.
After putting Jenny to sleep, Juniper went to the master bedroom.
Magnus had just finished washing up and came out of the bathroom. Seeing her already in bed, he walked over and lay down. Suddenly, she hugged his waist and snuggled into his arms.
It was rare for Juniper to throw herself into a hug like this, and there were only a handful of times she had taken the initiative like tonight.
Magnus was slightly stunned for a few seconds before hugging her and asking, "Is Jenny asleep?"
"Yes," Juniper responded, slightly tilting her head, her clear eyes staring into his. "Is Odis a friend you met later? I haven't seen him before."
Magnus was a reserved person and didn't have many close friends.
In college, he was only close to Robert and Michael.
It was the first time she met Odis.
During the six years they were apart, she knew nothing about his life.
Magnus said, "Yes, he and Aria are siblings, both in the medical field. But Aria specializes in psychology."
"But they don't look alike at all."
"They're not biological siblings."
Juniper didn't ask further because she was more concerned about Magnus. "Did Odis recommend Aria to you for psychological counseling?"
Magnus was a bit surprised. "How did you know about that?"
Juniper pursed her lips and said, "After your accident in international waters, Paul told me a lot of things I didn't know about you, like your bipolar disorder, you following me and Ronald to Southern City, and how you got the burn scar on your finger. Magnus, I feel ashamed that I didn't know you at all."
Magnus frowned. "I see Paul has a loose tongue. He can forget about his year-end bonus."
"If Paul hadn't told me, I wouldn't have known about your bipolar disorder or that Aria is your psychologist."
She often felt that she was very distant from him now.
Magnus pressed his forehead against hers, his large hand caressing her face, and sighed. "Why do you need to know these things? To pity me? Juniper, I never needed anyone's pity."
"I never thought of pitying you. What if I said I feel for you?" Juniper responded.
The highest form of love was perhaps feeling deeply for someone enduring immense struggles alone, bearing hidden scars.
Magnus's dark eyes dimmed a bit. "Juniper, do you know what saying these things will lead to?"
"What will it lead to?"
Juniper didn't react immediately.
By the time she realized, his hot breath was already upon her. "Do you want to make love?"
Juniper felt her face heat up.
How was she supposed to answer that?
He looked at her intently. "If not, then sleep?"
He didn't actually plan to touch her.
After attending Michael and Sinclair's wedding, he would send her and Jenny to Southern City. If something happened to him, he would ask Ronald to take them to a safe place in Solara.
Seeing her not speak, Magnus tucked her in and turned off the light.
As soon as the light went out, she suddenly snuggled up to him, tightly hugging his neck and kissing him. "Magnus, I don't want to sleep."
Magnus was stunned.
Juniper asked him, "You said that after the company's crisis is resolved, you would come to Southern City to get Jenny and me, then we will settle in Solara. Does that still count?"
She always felt that this promise was too good to be true.
He caressed her waist, sensing her unease, and reassured her, "Yes. Where do you want to go tomorrow? I'll go with you."
Juniper was puzzled. "You just got back, don't you need to handle company matters?"
Wasn't it a little inappropriate to go out with her when he just got back and had things to deal with?
Wouldn't the company's executives scold him for being irresponsible?
Magnus was indifferent. "I'm alive and that's the best crisis management."
Besides, he didn't have much time left, and being with her was more important than anything.
Staying in the Imperial Capital for a week was Juniper's request, but in fact, it was also his indulgence.
Juniper's lips unconsciously curved. "Then how about a movie?"
"Movies are pretty boring," Magnus said.
Juniper was stunned.
"But watching with you would be just right," he added.
Juniper's ears warmed, and she whispered in his ear, "We could go to a private theater, just you and me. If you find it boring, we could do something else."
Kissing and cuddling were all possible.
Magnus was taken aback, almost thinking he misheard, and pinched her waist. "What did you say?"
"If you didn't hear it, forget it."
She buried her flushed face in the blanket, not looking at him anymore.
His kiss fell on the back of her neck, his voice hoarse with a hint of a smile. "Juniper, who taught you to be so bold?"
