Chapter 173 Unwilling to Disclose Him?
The sound of the waves outside grew louder and louder, making Juniper very uneasy.
She instinctively hugged Magnus tightly around his neck and murmured softly, "Hmm."
Magnus just held Juniper like that. His voice deep as he spoke, "One day, a husband told his wife she should embrace her mistakes. Then the wife embraced her husband."
Juniper laughed upon hearing this. Magnus lowered his head and asked her, "Is it funny?"
Juniper looked up slightly and said, "Is that the only joke you have? How boring."
"If it's boring, why did you laugh?" Magnus teased, a hint of playfulness in his eyes.
It had been seven years since Juniper had smiled at him, all because of a lame joke.
If he had known, Magnus would have just bought a book of jokes.
"Juniper," Magnus suddenly turned serious and called out to her.
"Yes?" she responded.
"Come back with me to the Imperial Capital tomorrow morning. Jenny called tonight to ask when we were going back," Magnus said.
How come Juniper didn't know Jenny had called him tonight?
However, after being away for a week, she did miss Jenny.
Bringing up the child, Juniper asked, "Since I came to S City, have you had any arguments with Jenny?"
Before, Jenny used to argue with Magnus at home all the time.
Watching the relationship between fathers and daughters in other families, the daughters were always affectionate and filial. But in Magnus and Jenny's case, Jenny was not affectionate at all and always argued with her father.
Magnus didn't indulge Jenny either, scolding her when he got angry.
Looking down at Juniper, Magnus truthfully replied, "Yes, we have."
Whenever Magnus saw Jenny's face, he thought of her mother who had run away from home to join a dating show. How could he have a good temper?
It was also annoying that the little one nagging in his ear constantly.
Juniper was speechless, "Why can't you get along with a child?"
Magnus frowned slightly and replied, "Why don't you mention that she provokes me first?"
How come Magnus made a fusswith his own daughter?
With nothing more to say, they just held each other, listening to the sound of the waves, and fell silent for a long time.
Magnus delicately caressed Juniper's skin on the back of her neck, asking gently, "You haven't answered me yet."
"Answer what?" Juniper inquired.
"About coming back with me to the Imperial Capital tomorrow morning."
After some thought, Juniper replied, "I can go back with you to the Imperial Capital. But you have to ask theproduction team to edit out your parts."
Was she so eager to cut ties with him that she couldn't even appear with him on the same show?
Juniper continued, "Our current relationship is not suitable to be exposed on screen. If netizens find out things about us, they might dig up information about Jenny..."
Magnus's tone grew serious, a hint of displeasure in his expression, "Juniper, what do you think our relationship is right now?"
"Exes," she replied.
Magnus chuckled in exasperation, "Have you ever seen anyone hug his ex-girlfriend?"
"Then let's call it a debt relationship," Juniper suggested.
Nodding reluctantly, Magnus agreed. After all, they weren't even dating anymore, so being considered exes was already a good outcome.
What was worse. Juniper seemed to treat him only as a creditor, devoid of any emotions. When the one-month deadline was up, she would just pack up and left without a second thought and any emotional attachment.
When Juniper softened, she was truly soft-hearted, but when she hardened her heart, she was extremely cold.
Magnus finally understood. He took the 1.4-billion-dollar debt as an excuse to demand her staying with him, so then Juniper simply took their reunion as a way of repaying a debt without any emotions involved.
Juniper never thought about reconciling with him.
Seeing Magnus's handsome face darken completely, Juniper explained, "Also, appearing on a dating show like that is really not suitable for your status and could have a negative impact on you."
Magnus snorted coldly, "So you are looking out for me, huh?"
"Are you really looking out for me, or simply trying to avoid any connection with me? Or perhaps, are you afraid that my presence might affect your single image and reduce your chances of earning support and tips from fans?"
When people were angry, they tended to speak without restraint.
Magnus was no exception, losing control again and again, facing Juniper.
However, once the words were spoken, Juniper's face turned pale instantly. She looked at him in silence, released her grip around his neck, and turned her back to him, without a word.
It was unclear how much time had passed.
Juniper took a deep breath and suddenly said, "What kind of relationship do you want between us? The relationship that involves us the most should not be exes, but enemies."
The truth was harsh, but it was the truth.
There were too many wounds between them, making reconciliation seem absurd.
Juniper avoided bringing it up because she didn't want them to end up in a constant state of conflict in their final moments together.
Hating someone is as difficult as loving someone.
She couldn't bring herself to love Magnus whole-heartedly, nor could she be so resolute as to hate Ava.
Yet, here they were, lying on the same bed, even embracing each other minutes ago. It was truly ridiculous.
Magnus lay there, one hand resting on his forehead, devoid of any emotions.
Finally, Magnus spoke sternly, "There are still 13 days left. After those 13 days, you will be free. Until then, even if staying by my side is torturous for you, endure it."
Juniper wrapped herself in the blanket, closed her eyes, a hint of moisture at the corner of her eyes.
To Juniper, now Magnus only had one role, and that was Jenny's father.
Other devorcing couples could remarry each other, but what were they? They hadn't even been married, yet they had a child together.
During the night, Juniper had several nightmares.
Although Magnus was angry, he still held her from behind.
For a moment, Juniper thought, if the typhoon and the sea flooded the place, it wouldn't be so bad. At least they would die together.
At least then, she wouldn't have to feel happy being with Magnus and then feel guilty and sinful.
The next morning, when Magnus woke up, he subconsciously reached out to the left side, only to find it empty.
Magnus was stunned for a few seconds and then immediately got up.
He tried calling Juniper, but she had left her phone in the room.
The caller ID displayed "creditor."
In his mind, a scene from a year ago flashed: Juniper in a white dress, standing on the edge of a cliff by the sea, then leaping off...
Magnus grabbed Juniper's phone and walked quickly outside.
"Juniper!"
Hastily, Magnus called out to her as he walked towards the sea.
He reached the edge of the cliff overlooking the sea and a slender figure came into his view.
"Juniper!"
Juniper turned around and was tightly embraced by Magnus.
She was being squeezed so tightly that it was hard to breathe.
Magnus breathed heavily in her ear. His voice sounded tense, urgent and angery, as he shouted, "Is it so torturous to be by my side? Torturous enough to want to die? Are you thinking of jumping into the sea again? If you dare to jump, I will jump with you!"
