Chapter 176 Jealous of Everyone
Magnus and Juniper returned from S City; by the time they landed in the Imperial Capital, it was already 9 PM.
Paul drove to the airport to pick them up and headed towards Royal View.
At night, a light drizzle began to fall in the Imperial Capital.
Raindrops slid down the car window, and as they passed through the downtown area, Juniper noticed a familiar figure on the sidewalk.
Sinclair was standing by the crosswalk, waiting for the green light, pulling a suitcase. Suddenly, her frail body collapsed straight to the ground.
Juniper's heart skipped a beat, and she instinctively shouted, "Stop."
Paul and Magnus were both taken aback.
Magnus asked, "What's wrong?"
Juniper pointed outside the window. "I think I saw Sinclair. She fainted."
"Sinclair?" Magnus said.
Honestly, Magnus had almost forgotten who Sinclair was.
The black Rolls-Royce slowly came to a stop.
As soon as the car stopped, Juniper opened the door and walked into the rain.
Magnus grabbed an umbrella and quickly followed.
He took Juniper's hand, pulling her under the black umbrella, and frowned slightly. "What's the rush? She won't die."
He thought, 'Why is Juniper so concerned about Sinclair?'
As far as he remembered, she hadn't interacted with Sinclair much. Her reaction made it seem like Sinclair was more important than him.
In Juniper's heart, Jenny was more important than him, and Magnus accepted that.
Lyra was more important than him, as she was her biological mother, and he accepted that too.
Ophelia was her best friend, and Magnus reluctantly accepted that, though he was somewhat resentful.
But now even Sinclair could elicit such a strong reaction from Juniper.
Yet when it came to Magnus, Juniper was indifferent.
Juniper squatted down to help Sinclair. Although Sinclair was thin, Juniper wasn't very strong. She struggled and looked at Magnus. "Help me."
Magnus stood there, tall and cold, and upon hearing her, he frowned.
Reluctantly, he bent down to help her lift Sinclair.
Sinclair leaned against Juniper, who quickly called out to her, "Sinclair? Wake up!"
Magnus stood there, one hand in his pocket; seeing Sinclair barely conscious, he said indifferently, "Take her to the hospital. She looks like she has hypoglycemia."
Hypoglycemia shock?
Sinclair was pregnant. If something happened, it would be two lives at stake.
Without thinking, Juniper said, "Let's drive her to the hospital now."
Paul drove the car over.
Juniper couldn't lift Sinclair alone, so she instinctively looked at Magnus.
Unexpectedly, Magnus, holding the black umbrella with one hand, knocked on the car window with the other and instructed Paul inside, "Get out and help."
Juniper was stunned.
She thought, 'Two lives were at stake, what harm would it do for him to help?'
In the end, Paul and Juniper helped Sinclair into the back seat.
Sinclair lay in the back seat, with Juniper supporting her, leaving no room in the back.
Juniper casually said, "You sit in the front. There's no space in the back."
Magnus remained silent.
He thought to himself, 'We have picked up a problem.
'Sinclair is Michael's fiancée. When does it become my responsibility to take care of her?'
Magnus closed the umbrella and reluctantly sat in the front passenger seat, his expression cold and stern.
Juniper remembered there were candies in the car; she had eaten them last time. She reached out to Magnus in the front. "Give me some candies."
Magnus took out a jar of fruit candies from the glove compartment and heavily placed it in Juniper's hand.
He hadn't noticed before that Juniper was quite kind-hearted.
Except for being cold to Magnus, she seemed to be kind to everyone else.
Juniper took two candies, pried open Sinclair's lips, and put them in.
But these were hard fruit candies, which dissolved slowly in the mouth. If the hypoglycemia persisted for too long, the baby in her belly would be in danger.
Juniper asked again, "Do you have any chocolate?"
Magnus remained silent.
Jenny loved chocolate, so there should be some in the car.
But he wasn't sure if Jenny had ever been in this car before.
Magnus usually traveled in a Maybach.
Today, Paul had come to pick them up in a Rolls-Royce.
A few seconds later, Magnus took out a piece of dark chocolate wrapped in foil and placed it in Juniper's hand again. He laughed coldly. "If Sinclair wakes up, she should thank you."
Juniper was taken aback by his words.
Juniper wasn't just saving Sinclair out of pure kindness; Sinclair reminded her of when she was pregnant and alone.
Perhaps it was empathy.
Having been a single mother and having been caught in the rain, she instinctively wanted to help others in similar situations.
Besides, Sinclair wasn't a stranger; she was Magnus's friend's fiancée.
Magnus took out his phone, ready to call Michael.
He thought, 'This is his woman, naturally, he should take care of her.
'Sinclair shouldn't be my responsibility, and I'm not that kind-hearted.'
Juniper stopped him. "Don't call Michael yet. Let's wait until Sinclair wakes up and let her decide."
She thought, 'What if Sinclair doesn't want to see Michael?
'Late at night, Sinclair, pregnant, fainted on the street with a suitcase. She must have had a fight with Michael.'
Juniper didn't know the details, but as a woman, her intuition told her that Sinclair and Michael had a big fight this time.
Otherwise, Sinclair wouldn't have run out while pregnant.
No woman would want to be alone and faint on the street during such a vulnerable time as pregnancy.
Juniper put the chocolate in her mouth. "Sinclair, can you hear me?"
Sinclair, half-conscious, asked, "Where am I?"
Juniper said, "You fainted on the street. We're taking you to the hospital. Do you... do you want us to notify Michael?"
Hearing Michael's name, Sinclair instantly became more alert.
She quickly shook her head, her voice hoarse and weak. "No, don't notify him. I've already broken up with him."
"Broke up? But you..." Juniper was a bit surprised.
She hadn't expected that a month ago, Sinclair, who was still full of Michael, would break up with him.
Soon, the car arrived at the hospital.
Sinclair was taken to a ward for an IV.
Juniper stood by and asked, "Doctor, how is she?"
The doctor said, "She's lucky. Hypoglycemia shock is very dangerous, especially during pregnancy. It could be life-threatening. Are you her family? How could you let a pregnant woman faint hypoglycemia?"
Pregnant?
Magnus's eyes widened slightly. Now he finally understood why Juniper was so anxious.
The doctor's expression was very serious.
Magnus said calmly, "We're not her family, just friends."
The doctor asked, "Where's her husband? She's pregnant, and he's not taking care of her? That's irresponsible."
The female doctor's wordswere a bit harsh.
Lying on the hospital bed with an IV, Sinclair looked pale.
The female doctor instructed, "Since her husband isn't here yet, you should stay with her. If she feels unwell, press the call button."
Juniper nodded. "Okay."
After the doctor left, Magnus looked at Sinclair on the bed and asked, "Does Michael know you're pregnant?"
Sinclair shook her head. "He doesn't know, and I don't plan to tell him. We've already broken up. Thank you for saving me. If I get a chance in the future, if I still live in the Imperial Capital, I'll treat you to a meal."
Juniper asked, "Why were you dragging a suitcase and fainted on the street? Where were you planning to go?"
