Chapter 277 Juniper is His Life

Magnus swung open the car door, slid his long legs in, and settled his tall frame into the race car. His voice was low and determined. "I won't lose."

Ronald forced a smile and thought, 'This guy was really full of himself.'

Ronald walked over, knocked hard on the car roof, and said, "Even if I have to agree to something, it depends on what it is."

Magnus shot him a cold glance. "I won't ask you to die."

Ronald was left speechless.

"Relax, what I want you to do is totally legal. It's actually good for you." Seeing Ronald still thinking it over, Magnus frowned. "Are you scared?"

Ronald was instantly provoked and sneered, "Scared? Do you even know whose turf Peak Road is?"

"In Southern City, even a dropped coin belongs to the Abbotts. Of course, I know Peak Road is your turf," Magnus replied.

For a family empire like the Abbotts, shady ventures like casinos and racetracks were par for the course. Before joining the Windsor Group, Ronald managed the Peak Road racetrack and knew it inside out.

Magnus had no chance against Ronald, especially on a track he had never even seen before. It was a ridiculous notion!

Ronald, being a gentleman at heart, didn't like taking advantage of others. He kindly reminded, "I'll give you half an hour to get familiar with the road."

Magnus refused outright. "No need, I came early and already did a lap."

Ronald, as if hearing a joke, squinted slightly and laughed. "One lap? Are you sure one lap is enough? If you go off the mountain later, how do I explain to Quinn?"

Magnus's eyes darkened. "She knows about our race tonight?"

"No, she doesn't even know I'm meeting you."

Magnus breathed a slight sigh of relief. "Smart move."

"I've raced here hundreds of times. I'm too familiar with the terrain. If I win here, it wouldn't be fair. To be fair, I'll let you go first," Ronald said.

Magnus's eyes flashed with impatience and disdain. "Now I understand why Juniper has been with you for over a year but only sees you as a brother."

Ronald was stunned and instinctively asked, "Why?"

"You're too talkative," Magnus replied.

Ronald thought, 'Damn! This guy's mouth is sharp, insulting without using foul language.'

With that, Magnus rolled up the window.

Ronald picked a red Lamborghini. One blue, one red, parked at the starting line.

Ronald rolled down the window. "You first."

Magnus stepped on the gas, and the blue Ferrari shot out like a cheetah.

Just as Magnus passed the first turn, Ronald started his car and chased after him.

The reason it was called Peak Road was because the entire road was winding, with countless turns. The accident rate was high for new players on such a complex track.

The mountain road was extremely treacherous. The blue Ferrari in front was driving like crazy, not slowing down even at the turns.

Even Ronald, an experienced player, couldn't help but worry and said into his Bluetooth headset, "Magnus, are you out of your mind! If you die, what about Quinn and Jenny?"

Magnus frowned. "Stop talking!"

A busy signal followed. Magnus had turned off the Bluetooth.

At the fifth turn, the red Lamborghini drifted and temporarily took the lead. Then, the red and blue cars shot towards the mountaintop like two arrows. Sometimes the red car led, sometimes the blue, sometimes they were neck and neck.

At the 88th turn, the last one before the mountaintop, Ronald floored the gas, maxing out the power, and reached the top first. The mountaintop was a huge racing platform. Whoever crossed the yellow finish line first would win.

Just when Ronald thought he had it in the bag, the blue car behind suddenly surged forward, its front end making a sharp turn! The blue car blocked the red car!

The speed was too fast for Ronald to brake in time. Even if he did, the momentum pushed Magnus's car towards the finish line! The blue car was horizontal, the red car vertical. The wheels, spinning too fast to see, gripped the ground tightly, sparking brightly in the night! The red car had no choice but to push the blue car to the finish line!

The blue car's wheels crossed the yellow line first!

Ronald was amazed. No business without deceit. But Magnus being this wild on such a road? The side of the blue Ferrari was already dented.

Ronald backed the red car up, got out fuming. "Magnus! Are you crazy! If you got killed by my car, Quinn would hate me! Were you trying to set me up?"

Magnus calmly got out of the car, unscathed. "I wouldn't die. Even if I did, it would be on me."

"If you were a fraction of a second slower, my car would have hit your driver's seat," Ronald shouted.

"That's why I was fast, and you didn't hit my front." Magnus remained composed, his emotions steady, as if he hadn't just orchestrated that thrilling scene.

Ronald roared, "This isn't racing! Are you playing with your life?"

If anything had gone wrong, Magnus would be paralyzed even if he survived.

But Magnus stood there, calm and collected in the night. "Before the race, you didn't set any rules, nor did you say I couldn't gamble with my life."

Ronald thought, 'Is this guy even human?' He suddenly understood how Magnus carved out a huge piece of the financial world without shedding blood—he did it by being ruthless. Everyone could play tricks. Being unscrupulous was usual. But being ruthless enough to risk oneself, that was rare.

Magnus leaned casually against the car, a victorious smile on his lips. "I told you, I wouldn't lose."

Ronald hadn't believed it earlier. But he didn't know Magnus would play like this.

Ronald conceded, "Alright, you won. What do you want me to do?"

"I want you to take Juniper and Jenny to Solara."

"What did you say?" He thought he misheard.

Magnus didn't repeat but said, "Or do you not like Juniper enough to give up everything in Southern City for her?"

Ronald was puzzled, his tone serious. "In what capacity are you asking me to take Juniper and Jenny to Solara? And in what capacity should I take care of them? Magnus, have you forgotten one thing? Juniper isn't an accessory you can hand off to anyone. Does Juniper know about this?"
