Chapter 153 Be Responsible for You
Two hours later.
In the presidential suite, the lingering eroticism still hung in the air.
Magnus lightly tapped Juniper's cheek and asked, "Tired?"
Although Magnus was the one who had been set up, why did he now appear so clear-headed?
Was it because the needs had been satisfied?
Hence, he refreshed.
Juniper stood in the bathroom, turning on the faucet.
Cold water rinsed over her hands, washing away the heat from her palms.
Magnus also entered the bathroom.
Standing behind Juniper, he asked in a voice deep, "Are your hands hurting?"
Magnus inquired, looking serious.
Juniper slipped out of Magnus's arm. "It's getting late. Since you're fine now, let's go back to Royal View. Jenny might still be waiting for us."
With that, Juniper grabbed her bag and phone.
She glanced at her phone and found it was almost midnight.
Was Jenny asleep by now?
Just as Juniper unlocked her phone, she saw several missed calls from Ophelia.
So much had happened tonight, and her interrupted memories came flooding back.
Robert saw Ophelia and Thomas on the terrace...
Although Juniper didn't witness what happened next, it must have been awkward.
Ophelia calling at this time probably meant she fought with Robert.
Juniper quickly returned the call.
However, Ophelia didn't answer.
After tidying up his clothes, Magnus came out of the bathroom and saw her looking anxious with the phone in hand.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
"Ophelia called me several times after 10 o'clock, but I missed them. I called back, but she doesn't answer. Do you think Robert is mistreating her?"
Magnus frowned slightly. "No, I don't think so."
However, if they had a fight, things would be complicated.
Moreover, it wasn't unclear who was right and who was wrong between a couple's matters.
Juniper pleaded with Magnus, "Since I can't reach Ophelia, can you call Robert and ask?"
Juniper was really worried about Ophelia.
Although Ophelia seemed optimistic on the surface, deep down, she was fragile.
"Okay."
Having taken care of his needs, Magnus would do whatever Juniper asked.
Magnus picked up his phone and called Robert.
It took a while before the call was connected.
It was noisy on the other end, almost deafening.
Magnus moved the phone away from his ear and asked, frowning, "Where are you?"
Amidst the noise, Robert shouted. "At the bar. Why are you calling me? You wanna come and join me?"
Of course, he wouldn't.
Magnus asked coldly, "Where is Ophelia? Did you two fight?"
"No, why would we? I've been investing in the Perez Group for two years. I don't owe her anything. Thomas is back. I can tell she wants a divorce. I'm fine with it! Let's see how much Thomas can invest in the Perez Group!"
Mentioning Ophelia, Robert got angry.
He was clearly drunk and in a bad mood, so his tone was bad.
Juniper heard it all.
Naturally, she didn't sympathize with Robert.
In divorce, women often suffered more.
In society, the blame for marital issues was usually placed on women.
Juniper sent several messages to Ophelia.
However, Ophelia still didn't reply.
Meanwhile, Magnus hung up on Robert.
"Robert must be worked up. He'll calm down eventually."
Juniper disagreed, expressing her dissatisfaction with Robert. "He will be finewhen he cools off. But what about Ophelia? Both their parents always only pressure her. If Ophelia's parents find out about their fight, they'll scold her for not being good. He mentioned divorce so easily. It's all up to him whether they will divorce . Has he ever thought about how hard it is for Ophelia during this process?"
Magnus had no idea about the trivial matters in their marriage.
He looked at Juniper.
Suddenly, he found that Juniper seemed a bit agitated when it came to Ophelia.
She seemed unusually emotional.
Juniper seemed to have some emotions, except for towards him?
Irritated by Robert's irresponsible words, Juniper looked for her phone.
Raising an eyebrow, Magnus asked, "Juniper, what are you looking for?"
"My phone."
"It's in your hand."
Juniper looked down and realized the phone was indeed in her hand.
She felt embarrassed.
Changing the subject, Juniper said, "Come on. Let's go back."
Magnus put his arm around Juniper's shoulder, and they left the presidential suite.
As they entered the elevator, Magnus suddenly said, "Robert casually mentions divorce. He is indeed the problem."If Magnus were married to Juniper, he would never mention divorce so casually.
If Juniper dared to bring it up, he would make sure she never dared to mention it again.
Although Rober was his best friend, Magnus didn't agree with him on this matter.
For Magnus, marriage was sacred.
Once committed, it was forever.
The elevator doors closed.
The bright elevator walls reflected their silhouettes.
Juniper stood beside Magnus, casting a glance at him.
For some reason, she felt something had changed.
Was it her imagination?
Magnus seemed unusually attentive to her tonight.
Juniper didn't dwell on it, her mind preoccupied with Ophelia's matter. If Ophelia truly understood and wanted to break free from this marriage of convenience, she would support her.
However, divorce was a big deal, especially harmful to women.
As a woman, Juniper was unsure of how men viewed marriage.
For men, was it a joyous thing?
Juniper unconsciously asked Magnus, "If, I mean if you were married to someone you didn't love, and you had a fight, would you consider divorce?"
Upon hearing the question, Magnus frowned slightly. "I wouldn't marry someone I didn't love."
So, this question didn't apply to him.
"What about cases like Ophelia and Robert? A marriages of convenience is quite common."
Especially in their circle, it happened frequently.
Once, Alexander wanted to force Juniper to marry David from X City.
However, Juniper refused to comply and escaped.
Magnus stated firmly, "Being common doesn't mean I will accept it. Everyone has a different attitude towards marriage, and I don't need a marriage of convenience."
He didn't need it.
What a domineering statement.
It truly fited Magnus's demeanor.
Juniper seemed lost in thought, offering no response.
Magnus looked down at Juniper, then suddenly said, "If I ever decide to marry someone, it would be a careful consideration, wanting to spend a lifetime with her. So, once married, I wouldn't easily bring up divorce, nor would I consider it."
Magnus's voice was deep and serious.
Juniper heard those words claerly.
Unexplainably, Juniper felt her ears hot.
The elevator suddenly reached the basement floor.
The conversation ended.
Juniper stepped out of the elevator, but Magnus grabbed her wrist.
Looking at Juniper, he spoke more directly this time, "What I mean is, if we were to get married, I wouldn't casually mention divorce like Robert. I would take responsibility for you and wouldn't let you face marital issues alone."
