Chapter 342 Embedded Embrace
At the moment she saw Magnus, Juniper's breath caught.
She was the first to speak, "Magnus, don't come over, she has a gun!"
But Magnus didn't stop; he continued striding forward.
He stepped through the wet, muddy gasoline.
Magnus's cold, deep voice rang out. "Let Juniper go. The poison wasn't given to you on purpose by me; it was the Shadow Syndicate."
Sophie questioned, "If the poison was from the Shadow Syndicate, then why are you and Christopher still alive? Magnus, do you think I'm an idiot?"
Magnus patiently explained, "I did bring back two pills, but I didn't expect one of them to be poison. I intended to have both pills tested to ensure they were safe before giving them to you, but you didn't trust me. You were afraid I'd betray you and disappear with the pill. Sophie, you can't blame me for this; you were too hasty."
Sophie didn't believe him at all, "According to you, if only one antidote was given to Christopher, then what about you? Why are you still alive?"
"The antidote I took wasn't from the Shadow Syndicate's base; it was developed by Agency 719's research center based on the antidote's composition."
Sophie shook her head in panic, "No... that's impossible! You clearly kept Martin's antidote for yourself!"
Magnus gripped the gun in his hand.
If his vision wasn't failing him, he could shoot Sophie right between the eyes in this situation.
In terms of speed, he would be faster than Sophie.
At Christopher's Mansion, he had fought Sophie before.
Although Sophie had some skills, she was no match for him.
But now, his dark eyes behind the glasses squinted, and from a distance, Sophie's and Juniper's figures overlapped severely in his vision.
He couldn't shoot.
The risk of hitting the wrong person was too high.
Sophie pressed the gun harder against Juniper's head. "You want to shoot? Go ahead, let's see whose bullet is faster and more accurate!"
Magnus's knuckles tightened around the gun, and a thin layer of sweat appeared in his palm.
A direct attack wouldn't work; he had to use psychological tactics. "The poison you got was from the Shadow Syndicate. Your real enemy is the Shadow Syndicate. With your strength alone, you can't succeed in getting revenge! But now you're a traitor to them, once their spies in Crestoria find you, you won't have any way out!"
Sophie laughed softly, "Even if that's the case, so what? Martin is dead, and I don't want to live either. I'll take you all down with me! Why not?"
Sophie's eyes were dull and lifeless.
Juniper, being so close, could clearly feel the sorrow surrounding her.
She suddenly spoke, "The Martin you mentioned, he was your beloved, right? Even though Martin is dead, he would want you to live well."
Sophie's eyes trembled, and she looked at Juniper with reddened eyes, "How do you know?"
Juniper took a deep breath, trying to soften her, "You betrayed the Shadow Syndicate and risked your life to get the antidote for Martin, so you must have deep feelings for him. If his feelings for you weren't the same, you wouldn't have taken such risks for him. Since you loved each other so much, he wouldn't want you to die."
"If you kill me now and set the gasoline on fire, not only will you fail to avenge Martin, but you'll also lose your life. Even if you don't want to live, you should find Martin's real enemies and avenge him. That way, even if you die, it will be worth it."
After Juniper finished speaking, she clearly felt the pressure of the gun against her temple lessen.
Sophie was obviously moved.
"Sophie, the person who poisoned Martin was the Shadow Syndicate. If you want to avenge Martin, I can help you." Magnus looked at Juniper, paused, and then said, "As long as you let Juniper go, I can let you join Agency 719 and make Agency 719 your shield."
Sophie angrily said, "Do you think I'll believe you? If it weren't for the poison you brought back, Martin might not have died!"
"Do you have any other choice? As far as I know, the Shadow Syndicate has already issued a kill order for you. You're a traitor; they won't let you go. If that happens, not only will you fail to avenge Martin, but you'll also sacrifice your own life in vain. Joining Agency 719 is your only and best option."
"Let Juniper go, and I can protect you. I keep my word."
He spoke each word firmly and powerfully.
Such a huge temptation, Sophie couldn't help but waver.
But she didn't trust Magnus. "If that's the case, put down your gun, and I'll believe you!"
Magnus directly threw the black, cold gun in his hand to the ground and kicked it away.
"Magnus, remember what you said!"
Seeing this, Sophie pushed Juniper forcefully towards the opposite side.
Then, she swiftly jumped out of the window and disappeared into the snowy night.
Juniper fell into a familiar chest.
Before she could react, Magnus had already hugged her tightly, "Are you hurt?"
Juniper was a bit dazed and shook her head slightly, "No. Sophie..."
"She will come to me when she's desperate. Don't worry about her."
She dared to kidnap Juniper; even if he had to keep his promise and allow her to join Agency 719, she would have to suffer some consequences first.
For someone who kidnapped Magnus's people, a little physical pain was not too much.
Magnus was about to pull Juniper away when she suddenly broke free from his hand.
She ran over and picked up the black gun from the ground.
Such a dangerous item, if picked up by unrelated or related personnel, could cause significant trouble.
Juniper handed the gun to him.
Magnus was stunned for a moment, didn't take it, and looked at her deeply through his glasses.
Juniper didn't understand why he was suddenly staring at her like that. Just as she was about to shove the gun into his hand, Magnus suddenly grabbed her arm and pulled her into his embrace.
With his other large hand, he gripped her slender neck, forcing her to look up, and lowered his head to kiss her.
Juniper's whole body stiffened.
The gun in her hand fell to their feet.
This was an abandoned old chemical plant, with no lights inside, only the solar streetlights outside the plant barely illuminating the area.
Outside, the vast expanse of white snow reflected a cold white light, which, combined with the dim orange streetlights, cast a glow on them.
In the corner, Juniper was kissed until she was slightly out of breath, her body stiff and trapped between his chest and the wall, with no way to escape.
Just as she was about to push him away.
Magnus's hand suddenly grabbed her waist, pulling her tightly into his embrace, almost in an embedded hug.
Their bodies were pressed so close together that there wasn't a single gap.
He leaned down, pressing against her shoulder, his heart still pounding with the thrill of survival; and he let out a low, long breath. "Are you scared?"
Juniper shook her head woodenly.
After experiencing such a big scene on the high seas, this was just a small matter. She was nervous, but not scared.
Tonight was just a false alarm.
He hugged her tightly, as if he wanted to merge her into his body.
His large hand cupped the back of her head, sighing softly, "But I was very scared, Juniper."
Now his vision was impaired, and in such dim light, he couldn't shoot.
If they hadn't convinced Sophie just now, he would have been forced to shoot, gambling with Juniper's life.
He could gamble on anything, but not Juniper. He couldn't afford to lose her.
Juniper wanted to push him away and make things clear.
But Magnus directly pinned her struggling wrists behind her back, holding her firmly in his embrace with one hand.
With his other hand, he took off the bothersome glasses from his nose and casually threw them to the ground.
Then, with his right hand, he once again cupped the back of her head.
His scorching kiss fell again. "Avoiding me for so many days, do you really not want me anymore?"
