Chapter 315 Liar
Magnus's phone has been off. But considering the time, he should have arrived in Imperial Capital several hours ago. So why couldn't Juniper reach him?
Combined with this news, Juniper couldn't help but think more.
Salina couldn't stop Juniper and hurriedly grabbed her arm, saying, "Mrs. Blackwood, don't be impulsive. What if it's just a delay in his schedule, or maybe Mr. Blackwood is catching up on sleep? Your pregnancy is unstable, and you can't get too emotional..."
Juniper rushed to the bedroom to look for her passport. But after searching for a long time, she couldn't find it. She clearly remembered that the passport was in this drawer.
While rummaging through the drawer, Juniper asked, "Salina, have you seen my passport?"
"Mrs. Blackwood, I... I haven't seen it," Salina stammered.
Juniper paused, looked up at her, and questioned, "Did you take my passport?"
Salina didn't have the guts for that. She quickly explained, "Mrs. Blackwood, it wasn't me. Maybe you put it somewhere else. I'll help you look for it!"
But Juniper clearly remembered that her passport and documents were all here; she had seen them just a few days ago. There was no way she could have remembered the location incorrectly.
Passports and documents were very important; how could she have misplaced them? Salina must be lying.
Juniper said coldly, "Give me the passport. If you don't, I can get a replacement."
Seeing Juniper's firm attitude, Salina had to tell the truth, "Mrs. Blackwood, if you want to report the loss and get a replacement passport, I can drive you to handle it."
Reporting the loss and getting a replacement would take at least a week, even expedited, it would take three days.
This morning, before Magnus left, he handed Juniper's passport and documents to Salina for safekeeping, repeatedly instructing her not to return them to Juniper during this period and not to let Juniper return to the country.
In an instant, Juniper seemed to understand something. She stood there stiffly, her eyes red, and laughed mockingly, "Magnus took my passport, didn't he?"
Salina didn't dare to answer, only stepped forward to support Juniper. "Mrs. Blackwood, please sit down and rest for a bit. Maybe you'll be able to reach Mr. Blackwood later."
Juniper said bitterly with a sarcastic smile, "He took my passport, deliberately preventing me from returning to the country, stalling for time. Is he afraid I'll interrupt his wedding with someone else?"
She felt the boiling blood that had rushed to her head a moment ago cool down inch by inch, freezing within her body. She sat down on the edge of the bed, numb.
Slowly raising her hand, she looked at the pink diamond on her ring finger, her eyes wet and red as she smiled.
When she saw the news that he was going to get engaged to Sophie, she didn't believe it. She called him dozens of times, but he didn't answer.
She wanted to return to the country, to confront him in person, but he even took her passport, leaving her unable to go anywhere, trapped like a caged animal in this foreign land.
She thought that night at the cathedral, when he knelt on one knee to propose, would be the beginning of their happiness.
But how silly was she to forget that she was the one who proposed first; she forced Magnus to propose.
In that moment when he knelt to propose, Juniper was thinking about their future, about spending forever with him.
But what about Magnus? What was he thinking? Was he thinking about how grand the wedding with the Abbotts' daughter would be in a few days?
Juniper laughed through her tears, the laughter filled with sorrow and irony. "Liar."
She forcefully pulled off the pink diamond from her ring finger and threw the ring hard onto the floor!
The ring hit the hardwood floor, and due to the force, a small, inconspicuous dent appeared on the floor.
The sparkling pink diamond lay there, lonely in the corner.
Salina stepped forward, wanting to comfort her, "Mrs. Blackwood..."
But as soon as she spoke, Juniper interrupted her, "Mrs. Blackwood? What kind of Mrs. Blackwood am I?"
She wasn't Mrs. Blackwood. She and Magnus weren't married. She was too naive, deceived by a few sweet words.
Salina stood by helplessly, not daring to say more, afraid that saying too much would make Juniper even more upset.
Juniper gave a bitter smile. How was she any different from a mistress Magnus kept abroad?
If he wanted to marry someone else, he could have told her, and she wouldn't have shamelessly clung to him. But why did he choose to humiliate her this way?
Even last night, when they made love, he kissed her, interlocked their fingers, and repeatedly told her, "Juniper, I am yours, only yours."
He had promised her he wouldn't marry anyone else. So Magnus could break his promises too. He could lie too.
Tears streamed down Juniper's face, her fingers digging into her palms.
The whole world knew he was going to marry someone else, and she was the last to know. How meticulously he had planned.
She remembered last night, Magnus mentioned Lloyd from SY, whose wife was in Imperial Capital, while he kept a mistress in Celestia. Would his wife come to Solara one day to kidnap Jenny? How ridiculous.
Someone as proud as Juniper, how could she be willing to be his mistress kept outside of marriage?
She propped herself up and stood, her attitude even more determined. "Salina, I want to get a replacement passport. I want to go back to the country."
This small villa was the cage Magnus had built for her. He wanted to trap her here, but she was unwilling. After being deceived so badly, she just wanted a dignified end.
Suddenly, a sharp pain came from her lower abdomen. Juniper instinctively reached out to hold her belly, her face pale.
"Mrs. Blackwood, is your belly hurting? Let's go to the hospital!" Salina supported her, ready to head downstairs.
Juniper felt a warm sensation between her legs, and bright red blood stained her light-colored pants. A sharp pain pierced her abdomen.
She slowly looked down, feeling something being pulled from her abdomen, bringing a tearing pain. The sight of the blood was shocking!
Juniper's whole body trembled, her sobs uncontrollable. She instinctively clutched Salina's arm tightly, whispering helplessly, "Salina..."
Salina was shocked. "Mrs. Blackwood, let's go to the hospital!"
On the way, Salina drove very fast. They quickly arrived at a nearby private hospital.
After a series of examinations, the doctor said, "She's experiencing heavy bleeding and needs an immediate D&C procedure."
Juniper lay on the operating table, and before being pushed in, she could only tightly hold Salina's hand. "Is the baby not going to make it?"
Salina could only say, "Mrs. Blackwood, it's okay, don't be afraid; everything will be fine!"
But it hurt so much. A huge sense of fear completely enveloped her. She suddenly felt very scared. Why, at this moment, was only Salina by her side? Where was Magnus?
