Chapter 129 You Are Suggested to Pay in Installments
Juniper returned to the hotel and sorted out the things she had brought back from the previous house.
The items she placed in the box were all significant for her.
The documents she had used, the diary, and Lyra's portrait.
Alexander was greedy and sexist. But her mother had always been very good to her.
She touched Lyra's photo and wiped off the dust on it.
Looking at the portrait, she murmured, "Mom, would you be upset if I didn't hold Ava responsible?
Not pursuing was already the greatest tolerance she could achieve.
The phone rang. It was Ophelia.
Ophelia asked, "Did you get your stuff?"
"Yeah. I didn't expect Magnus to buy that house."
"What? Have you met him?"
"Yes."
Ophelia was worried. "Did he do anything to you? Are you safe now?"
"Ronald went with me, he wouldn't let me go, so Ronald hit him," Juniper said.
Ophelia was shocked and sighed, "What’s wrong with Magnus? If Ronald didn't accompany you, what would he do? Detain you?”
Detain?
"I don't know, but I'm back at the hotel now."
Ophelia said, "So many things have happened between you two. And you just met. Calm down. Magnus is paranoid, I'm really afraid he'll take you to some deserted island."
"Okay, except for Jennifer's matter, I don't plan to meet him anymore."
Ophelia agreed, "You don't owe him anything anymore. In S City, you were stabbed while trying to protect him, and you ended up with emphysema because of it. Robert said that nothing good happens when Magnus is with you. You are the unlucky one. To clear his name, you fell out with the Beaumont family. No matter how flawed Alexander is, he's still your father. How many people would send their real father to jail for the sake of an ex-boyfriend? Juniper, you've done well enough, you don't owe him anything anymore. Now you are even. You should move on and live your own life."
Juniper smiled faintly, "Ophelia, I am so glad to have you."
"Of course, women should support each other and stay away from those damned men. Juniper, if I get divorced, let's live together."
"Sure, we can run a guest home by the sea then, what do you think?"
"That sounds like a great plan. If the B&B is successful, we should be able to sustain ourselves. By then, we'll be the bosses. We’ll take Jenny to the beach every day to pick up seashells and play in the sand."
Juniper imagined the kind of life and found it wonderful.
She joked, "Doesn’t Jennifer need to go to school? How can she play in the sand with you every day?"
"Right, did you talk about Jennifer's custody with Magnus tonight?"
"No, custody doesn’t matter. I don’t mind if Jennifer stays with him. I'll pick her up and let her stay with me when I am free.”
"Okay, and you're just starting your career now, you're quite busy."
After that, Ophelia heard Juniper sigh on the other side of the phone.
"What's wrong, miss?"
"When I saw Magnus tonight, all I could think of was my mom's death."
"Why? Because of Ava?"
Juniper shook her head. "I don't know, maybe because he was there when my mom died, whenever I see him, I remember that feeling."
"Is that some sort of PTSD?"
PTSD, post-traumatic stress disorder, refers to the delayed and persistent mental disorder that occurs in individuals after experiencing, witnessing, or being confronted with actual or threatened death, serious injury, or a threat to the physical integrity of oneself or others. The incidence of PTSD varies, with women being more likely than men to develop PTSD.
Patients may consciously avoid people and things that are related to their condition.
It could progress to numbness, emotional detachment, delayed responses to surroundings, loss of interest, consciously distancing oneself from those involved, appearing indifferent outwardly but actually being internally aware.
Lyra's death was too gruesome.
Juniper couldn't forget it.
So, when Magnus approached her tonight, she broke out in a cold sweat and almost collapsed.
Ophelia asked again, "How long have you got this?"
"I think this is the first time, I didn't return to the Imperial Capital before because I didn't want to dwell on it.I deliberately avoided it. But when I went back and saw Magnus this time, many things involuntarily rushed into my mind."
"I'll accompany you to see a psychologist when you are free. I know someone very professional."
Juniper was slightly stunned. "Why do you know a psychologist?"
"I just happened to know one. I was kind of stressed from work, so I went for a consultant."
Ophelia smoothly changed the subject.
Juniper didn't think much about it.
Early the next morning.
Juniper received a business call.
"Hello, is this Harper Beaumont?"
"It's me."
"I'm from the Dream Back to New York project department. I contacted you last time, do you remember?"
It's SY again.
"I remember, but I've already said I have no intention of cooperating."
The other party was direct. "Two million for a theme song is a hefty price in the industry, Ms. Warm. Are you sure you're not considering it??"
2 million?
Indeed, SY was not short of money.
Juniper smiled softly, "Your group has taught me about wealth and generosity, but I'm afraid I'm not interested.
After hanging up the phone, another call came in shortly.
"Hello, is it Miss Beaumont?"
"Yes. What's the matter?"
"Hello, this is the legal department of the SY Group. Did you borrow 50 million dollars from Mr. Blackwood a year ago?"
"50 million?"
Juniper was stunned.
The other side, in a very formulaic tone, continued to remind, "Did you sign a 50 million contract with Mr. Blackwood?"
"Yes."
"Then that's correct. Now that a year has passed, you haven't paid back a penny, Mr. Blackwood is formally suing you, and starting today, you must pay in time.
"By the way, Mr. Blackwood is generous, we can accept installment payments."
"Ms. Beaumont, are you listening?”
"I'm listening, go on."
"So, Ms. Beaumont, how do you plan to repay in installments?"
Juniper took a deep breath, and maintained a smile. "There's one point I disagree with what you just said."
"Which is?"
"You said I haven't paid back a penny, that's not correct. A year ago, we had a sexual relationship, Mr. Blackwood said, 2 thousand each time, we did it at least ten times, and I've already paid him at least 20 thousand."
There was silence on the other end for a few seconds.
He was impressed by Ms. Beaumont.
Now, it was Juniper's turn to ask. "Hello, are you listening?"
After a while.
A familiar deep male voice came from the phone. "What did you just say, what kind of deal did we have?"
It was Magnus!
