Chapter 322 Her Video Call
Ronald spoke unintentionally, but once the words were out, there was no taking them back.
Christopher looked at Juniper with a serious expression. "Quinn, what's going on? Did Magnus bully you? Once I'm better..."
Juniper lowered her eyelashes and said calmly, "No, Dad. It has nothing to do with him."
"Then why the miscarriage? Magnus is such a jerk. You two are not even married, and he got you pregnant again. What a bastard!"
The more Christopher thought about it, the angrier he got. His only biological daughter, whom he cherished dearly, had gotten pregnant twice out of wedlock with the same jerk, and the second time ended in a miscarriage.Juniper pinched her fingers and said, "Dad, this time it was an accident. Magnus was trying to get the antidote for you, which led to this situation."
Christopher said furiously, "But he did get you pregnant twice out of wedlock!"
Juniper kept her head down and said nothing more.
Seeing her low spirits, Christopher didn't dare to criticize her further and only said, "Ronald, drive Quinn home first. Let her rest well and have the family doctor check on her."
Juniper was slightly stunned, feeling unexpectedly cherished. Alexander had never been this kind to her before.
When she looked up, she saw Christopher's concerned and loving gaze and couldn't help but comfort him, "Dad, I'm fine. You don't need to worry."
Christopher said with concern, "Why didn't you tell me about such a big thing? If I had known you just had a miscarriage, I wouldn't have allowed you to stay here day and night to watch over me. Go home and rest well. Your health is important. You can come to the hospital to see me when you're better!"
Juniper nodded. "Okay, then you rest well too. I'll come back tomorrow."
Christopher waved his hand. "Don't come tomorrow either! Ronald, go back and tell the kitchen to make more nourishing food. She's too thin!"
Ronald nodded. "Okay. Quinn, let's go."
Juniper stood up and followed Ronald out of the ward.
Christopher, lying on the hospital bed, watched Juniper's slender back as she left, furrowing his brows and angrily said, "The next time Magnus comes to Southern City, I'll break his legs!"
Jerry, who was standing by, naturally knew that Christopher was just venting. He smiled, "If you really break Magnus's legs, what if Ms. Abbott gets upset?"
Christopher was indifferent. "Even if I don't break his legs, he still needs a lesson! Does he really think Quinn has no one to back her up and he can bully her as he pleases?"
Jerry folded his hands in front of him and continued to smile, "Mr. Abbott, Magnus just saved your life, and this is how you thank him? Seriously?"
Christopher's expression froze. "I will naturally be grateful for the antidote, but I will never forgive him for getting Quinn pregnant twice out of wedlock and causing a miscarriage this time!"
"Yes, if you forgive him, and they get married in the future, and Ms. Abbott goes to the Imperial Capital, who knows how he might bully her there! He must be taught a lesson." Jerry spoke righteously, with a stern expression.
Christopher came to his senses, furrowed his brows, and suddenly realized, raising his voice, "Who said I allowed him to marry Quinn? Imperial Capital is so far away; why go there?"
Jerry laughed, "Mr. Abbott, are you reluctant to let her go?"
"I just reunited with my daughter, and Quinn is only twenty-five. What's the rush to get married? There are so many young talents in Southern City for her to choose from. I don't believe there's no one better than Magnus." Christopher snorted.
Jerry said, "Indeed, we can definitely find someone more suitable for Ms. Abbott than Magnus. But... whether Ms. Abbott will like them is another matter. Ms. Abbott has been entangled with him for so many years and even had Jenny with him. It will be very difficult for her to let go in a short time."
Christopher frowned, getting angrier the more he thought about it. "What benefits did Magnus give you that you're speaking for him now?"Jerry nodded in agreement. "Of course, if you don't agree, Ms. Abbott won't really be with him."
Christopher looked at the door of the ward, thinking of the hardships Quinn had endured over the years, and his heart ached.
He sighed, "Quinn is very thoughtful. So many things have happened between her and Magnus. Even if she likes that jerk, I have to consider whether she will suffer or be wronged with him."
Jerry spoke honestly, "Actually, I think Magnus is definitely not suitable for Ms. Abbott. You've seen his methods in the business world. He's so scheming that even if Ms. Abbott is smart, she is no match for him."
Christopher understood and sighed, "I acknowledge Magnus's abilities and methods in the business world, but being scheming is not an advantage in relationship. Ronald is too stubborn and grew up with us. If Quinn and he are mutually affectionate, it would be good. But..." He paused.
Jerry continued, "But Mr. Ronald Abbott is not capable enough to win Ms. Abbott's heart."
Christopher smiled and pointed at him but said nothing.
Late at night. Agency 719 base.
Magnus leaned on the hospital bed and logged into WhatsApp.
He clicked into the pinned chat with Juniper and played a two-second voice message from their previous conversation.
A cool and gentle female voice came through, "Magnus, good night."
He listened to it several times, originally intending to listen to it before sleeping. But now, the more he listened, the more restless he became.
He couldn't help but click into her Instagram. Juniper had only one post on her Instagram. It was posted four days ago.
The photo was taken in the yard of the Solara house, showing Jenny and a snowman.
The photo was taken by Juniper. The snowman was made by him before he left Solara that morning.
But the snowman in the photo was obviously more delicate and cute than the one he made.
Juniper and Jenny must have decorated the snowman.
Just thinking about that scene made Magnus's lips curl up involuntarily.
Several mutual friends had liked the post. Magnus also liked it.
She had shared it with him first, but he was in Avelonia at the time and had turned off his phone completely to avoid being tracked by the Shadow Syndicate.
It wasn't until things calmed down, they retreated, and safely arrived in Crestoria that he turned his phone back on.
While Magnus was lost in thought, Juniper's video call suddenly came through.
He was momentarily stunned, almost in disbelief. Then, joy surged in his heart, and he eagerly pressed the answer button.
