Chapter 141 Juniper and I are Together Again
After changing clothes, Juniper glanced at the small bottle on the table.
Today was the second day, the task was to accompany the creditor and his friends to dinner.
If it was just a simple meal, it should be easy.
But she was not sure if Magnus would do something else.
For safety reasons, Juniper put the bottle of Paroxetine tablets into her bag.
If she really had to do something, she wouldn’t be so uncomfortable like she was last time.
As she left, she opened her phone. She changed the contact name from to "Creditor."
When she first met Magnus at the Beaumont, she was only 12 years old.
At that time, she was scolded by Alexander and cried in the yard.
Magnus was five years older than her, just 17 that year.
It was a shock to realize that they had known each other for thirteen years.
They had witnessed each other's most naive and ignorant moments.
Despite knowing each other for thirteen years, their relationship lasted only a year, followed by endless torment of memories and efforts to forget.
After so many years of twists and turns, Juniper still thought it best to part on good terms. This month, she would make an effort to get along well with him.
Ten minutes later, Juniper arrived downstairs. While Magnus waited for her by the car, he stood there smoking a cigarette.
As she approached, halfway through his cigarette, he flicked the tip and pressed the red butt into the ashtray above the trash can. The ashtray had water in it, and the cigarette sizzled and went out.
Juniper had weak lungs and couldn't stand secondhand smoke. When she got into the passenger seat, Magnus leaned over to help her fasten her seatbelt.
The two moved closer, their warm breaths gently grazing each other's faces.
Magnus gazed at her with intense eyes, and Juniper instinctively met his gaze. It wasn't the first time she had encountered him.
She vaguely grasped the intent behind his gaze. Did he want to kiss her? His words from the previous night echoed in her mind.
He said, "Not this, but holding hands and hugging should happen, Juniper, I'm a man."
Magnus was a businessman, and since he had been granted a right, he would surely exercise it.
After all, businessmen maximize the benefits they can enjoy.
But she had just swallowed bitter medicine, and her mouth still tasted bitter.
It was not a good time for a kiss.
Juniper cleared her throat and softly reminded, "I have a bitter taste in my mouth."
Then, Magnus's phone rang.
He straightened up and answered, "Hello?"
"We're all here. We’ve been waiting for half an hour. What are you and Juniper doing? We're starving."
"You can order now. We'll be there soon."
"Alright, we'll look at the menu. You can order more later. Come on. I am starving. Juniper is so amazing. You are never late for anything. But today, because of her, you are keeping us waiting.”
Magnus furrowed his brow slightly and retorted, "What nonsense are you spouting?"
Robert deliberately teased him, "Before Juniper came back, wasn't I your favorite? Once she's back, you're mean to me. Magnus, I know what you are now."
"Is Ophelia next to you? Hasn't she vomited?"
Robert's tone returned to normal, bluntly saying, "She hopes that we are a couple so Juniper would belong to her."
After hanging up the phone, Magnus started the car.
He casually took out a box of fruit candies from the storage compartment, "Jennifer loves sweets, so she put them there. She is getting bad teeth. But she wouldn’t listen to me."
Juniper chuckled, "Don't have to spoil her too much."
Magnus snorted, "I didn't let her have candies for just a week before, and she cried, saying I was abusing her, that she would go find you to make me behave. I don’t know where she got this temper from."
Was he scolding her for having a bad temper?
Juniper ate a pineapple-flavored candy. It was strong, sour, and sweet, quickly masking the bitter taste of the medicine in her mouth.
She pursed her lips and said objectively, "Normally, girls have the same temper as their dads."
Magnus smirked.
Fine, he admitted that he had a bad temper.
When the car arrived at the destination, Juniper realized that this was not just a simple restaurant. It was a hot spring restaurant.
After Magnus and Juniper entered the large private room, the dishes arrived just in time.
Robert's gaze playfully swept over the two of them and teased, "You two are so lovey-dovey. It took you so long to get here. Were you making a baby?“
Magnus gave him a cold glare, "Don’t be so dirty."
"Don’t you like it?"
Robert chuckled and handed him the menu, "Have a look. But hurry up, I'm starving."
After Juniper came in, she sat next to Ophelia.
Ophelia glanced at Patricia across from her and whispered, "Sinclair isn't feeling well and didn't come, but Patricia is here. We are having a good show tonight."
"As long as Michael is here, she shouldn't do anything."
Magnus handed the menu to Juniper, who had already ordered enough dishes, and Juniper ordered two desserts.
As the meal began, everyone ate a bit. Patricia, sitting next to Michael, suddenly raised her glass to Juniper in a friendly gesture, "Juniper, I’m glad that you've survived a great ordeal. This is to your new life."
For Michael’s sake, Juniper raised her glass, "Thank you."
Magnus exchanged her champagne for a glass of juice, "Take juice instead of alcohol."
Seeing this scene, Patricia held her glass, teasingly said, "Magnus, you're so good to Juniper. I heard from someone you forced her to drink even though you knew she was allergic to alcohol. Is that true?"
Michael frowned, "Patricia, what nonsense are you talking about?"
Patricia quickly rounded off, "It seems groundless! I shouldn’t believed the gossip! I am sorry."
When they first reunited, Magnus did indeed force Juniper to drink a high-proof vodka because of his hatred for her.
It hit a sore spot for Magnus.
The temperature on Magnus's face visibly dropped, "You're just finding out about such an old piece of news now?"
He picked up his glass and drank expressionlessly.
Suddenly, he held Juniper's hand, interlocking their fingers, and held it up in front of Patricia.
Each word was solemn, "This news is outdated. You should update your information. Juniper and I are back together."
The silver ring on Magnus's ring finger reflected in the light. The sight of their clasped hands not only pricked at Patricia's eyes but also pricked at Michael's heart.
While others might not know the origin of the silver ring on his ring finger, Michael did. Although it was just an ordinary silver ring, it was the love token ring of Magnus and Juniper.
After they broke up, Magnus never wore it again. But now, he wore it on his ring finger again. What did this mean?
