Chapter 145 Swipe His Black Card
The phone rang. The caller ID showed it was from the sanatorium.
Magnus glanced at Juniper, grabbed his phone, and got up to answer it in the living room.
Ava had some trouble at the sanatorium, and the director asked him to come over.
After hanging up, Magnus went upstairs to change clothes. The pink diamond lay quietly on the bedside table.
Last night, in front of Patricia, was she just cooperating with him in acting?
Downstairs, Jenny saw her dad change clothes and curiously asked, "Dad, where are you going?"
"I am out for a bit, got some things to do."
Juniper asked, "What time will you be back? Are you still going to the banquet tonight?"
"I should be back before the afternoon, we'll see."
Ava was too agitated this time, so he planned to move her to another sanatorium. If the search for a sanatorium took long, he would return late.
"Does the banquet start at six?"
"Yes, why?" He noticed she seemed a bit concerned.
She touched her neck, somewhat embarrassed, "I don't have a gown to wear."
She hadn't attended any high-end banquets in a long time. Let alone owning a gown.
"If you come back late, I'll take Jennifer to Ophelia and buy one with her."
Magnus wanted to accompany her to buy it, but he wasn't sure when he could return. Ava's mental state had been poor, and she hadn't seen a doctor for a while.
He had Joseph find a specialist just now, and before going to the sanatorium, he had to take Ava to the hospital.
Magnus took out a black card and handed it to Juniper, "The password is your birthday, there's a car in the garage, you can drive Jennifer out."
Juniper didn't take it. "I have money."
"If you do, why haven’t you pay me back?"
He took her hand, and stuffed the black card into it, "Take it."
Juniper looked at the card in her palm and whispered, "If I use your card, I’d owe you even more."
The more you owe, the more you have to repay.
Magnus thought that she might never clear this debt in her lifetime.
But if he said that, she wouldn't swipe his card, or use his money.
He looked deep into her eyes, "As long as it's not for me to pay for your leaving, you can use it as you please."
Meeting his gaze, her heart inexplicably warmed.
She stood there holding the black card, watching him leave. Magnus walked to the door and turned back to remind, "There will be many important SY clients at tonight's banquet, it's better to buy a more expensive gown, Ophelia should know better than me, you can take her for advice." Juniper replied, "Okay."
When Magnus left, Jenny looked at the black card, her eyes shining, "Mom, Dad is so good to you, he has never given me a card, I want one too."
"You're so young, what do you need a card for?" "To buy mashed potatoes and fried chicken! And gummy bears, milk candies, lollipops, all of them!"
With this card, she could probably buy all the mashed potatoes and fried chicken on the entire Earth. Juniper smiled and said, "We'll use this card later to go eat mashed potatoes and fried chicken, okay?"
"Okay! And I want a big cola! Super-sized!" Juniper pinched her little nose, "You little glutton, let's go, we'll change clothes and play with Ophelia."
"Okay!"
In Maple Villa.
Sinclair has been unhappy since last night and hasn't spoken much to Michael.
Michael thought she might be feeling unwell and asked, "Still not feeling well? Do you want to go to the hospital?"
At the mention of the hospital, Sinclair's eyes trembled.
"No need, I've just been having some stomach discomfort lately, eating less, feeling low."
"If you continue to feel unwell, I'll take you to the hospital."
"Okay." Sinclair looked at him with a hint of affection in her eyes.
Although he didn't love her, it had to be admitted that this man had been gentle to her.
Sinclair sometimes wondered why Juniper didn't like him.
Magnus was indeed handsome.
The first time they met, she couldn't help but glance at him.
Yet Magnus seemed cold and emotionless, far from being gentle.
Having a good temper and emotional stability were more important in a relationship.
Michael was handsome, had a good temper, and was emotionally stable, yet Juniper didn't like him.
Sinclair wondered if she didn’t understand Magnus enough, or if she didn't understand Michael enough.
Perhaps Magnus was not as unapproachable as he seemed, and maybe Michael was not as gentle as he appeared.
"What are you looking at me like that? What is on your mind?" the woman in Michael's arms frowned slightly.
Sinclair shook her head and smiled, "Nothing, just wondering if someone as good as you could be disliked by anyone?"
Michael didn't dwell on it and laughed at the question.
"Of course, there will definitely be people who don't like me, why suddenly ask this?"
Naturally, Sinclair couldn't tell him that she had always had a question in her mind.
‘Why does Juniper like Magnus but refuse to even look at Michael?’
She didn't interact with Juniper much, but she could still sense Juniper's indifference towards Michael.
So indifferent that she never really looked at him. But Sinclair wouldn't ask him such sensitive questions. When it came to Juniper, she wouldn't ask anymore. She knew it’d only make him angry.
"By the way, there's a banquet tonight, do you want to go with me?"
Sinclair was about to refuse. Patricia suddenly interjected, sarcastically saying, "She's from the countryside, never been to such a banquet, brother. Why do you want to take her to such an event? What if she embarrasses you?"
Sinclair indeed didn't belong to their circle. She didn't want to force herself to fit in with them.
She looked at Michael and said, "I haven't been feeling well these days, so I guess I can’t go with you."
Patricia mocked, "Magnus and Juniper will definitely be there tonight, you don't want to go because you're afraid of seeing Juniper, right? After all, you're a counterfeit.”
"Patricia! What nonsense are you talking about?"
Sinclair couldn't be bothered to argue with her, "Michael, I'll go upstairs to take some rest."
As Sinclair left, Patricia rolled her eyes.
"What a pretense! Deep down she must really want to go!"
Michael frowned and reprimanded her, "Be nicer to Sinclair in the future."
Patricia immediately smiled and hugged his arm, trying to please him, "Brother, if Sinclair doesn't go, you'll be without a female companion, right? Why don’t you take me with you? I have a bunch of evening gowns in my closet that I haven't had a chance to wear!"
"You'll only cause trouble for me."
Patricia raised her finger and vowed, "I promise, I won't cause any trouble tonight!"
Michael didn't believe her at all and didn't relent.
Patricia whispered, " Michael, you said I'm not young anymore. I've been unemployed at home for so long. I want to meet some amazing people, and maybe even find a good job. Besides, don't you also hope that I won't hold any expectations for Magnus anymore? If I don't go out to meet other men, how can I move on? Maybe tonight I'll meet someone new."
Michael looked at his sister coldly.
Patricia shook his arm persistently, " Michael, please, just take me with you! I want to see more of the world. I swear I won't cause any trouble for you tonight!"
