Chapter 103 Extreme Paranoia

The father and daughter sat in the living room like that. Jennifer fell asleep leaning on Magnus's leg.

Magnus stood up and carried her upstairs. Jennifer mumbled unconsciously on his shoulder, "Mom..."

He tucked the little girl into bed, placed the glass jar filled with colorful corals and shells that Juniper had given to the child on her bedside table.

It was Juniper's last gift. Magnus returned to his study.

He opened the diary again. On the last page of the diary, there was a testament, a very short testament with just one sentence. "I hope Jennifer can grow up happy and cheerful with her dad." Only this, nothing else.

In the week when Juniper had the accident, Magnus had a normal work schedule, going to work on time and coming home late, as if nothing had happened.

He remained emotionally stable as if nothing had happened. The search and rescue team searched from midnight until noon the next day after Juniper jumped into the sea. Later, Magnus hired another search and rescue team and searched for a week. But till now, there were no results.

Robert was worried that he had been suppressing himself too much, so he said, "How about going out for a few drinks tonight? I'll invite Michael as well. It's been a while since the three of us got together."

Without even lifting his head, Magnus refused, "I have to work overtime tonight, I don't have the time."

"Then when are you planning to hold Juniper's funeral?"

Magnus ignored him, "Do you have anything else? If not, go out, I have a meeting soon."

"Smack."

Robert closed his laptop directly.

He looked at him and said, "Magnus, how long do you want to deceive yourself? You've already sent a search team to look for Juniper for a week, and still haven't found her body. Won't you give up?"

Magnus looked up and stared at him firmly, word by word, "If we haven't found her yet, it means there's still a possibility. Looking for her hasn't harmed anyone, why can't we continue? Tomorrow is the day she and Jennifer agreed to meet, I have to find her."

"If you continue like this, you'll drive yourself crazy! Juniper is already dead, if something happens to you because of this, how can Jennifer live?"

"I am calm, you don't need to keep reminding me that Juniper is dead, I only believe what I see. As long as I don't see her body for a day, it means she might still be alive."

He stared at Robert with red eyes, a mix of anger and sadness.

But his dead, cold gaze remained unwavering.

He never believed that Juniper had died like this.

Or rather, he never accepted the fact of Juniper's death.

Robert looked at his obsession, sighed softly, "When Juniper was alive, you couldn't let go, and even now that she's dead, you still can't let go. Magnus, what you're doing now is trapping yourself for a lifetime. If Juniper's spirit is in heaven, she wouldn't want you to destroy yourself!"

He still ignored him, opened his computer, and stared at the screen, continuing to work.

He seemed completely numb.

No normal reaction at all.

Robert frowned and asked, "What are you going to say if Jennifer can't find Juniper tomorrow?"

"It's not the first time Juniper has stood her up, it's normal for her to flake."

Magnus is truly completely insane!

His tone made it seem like Juniper had only temporarily lost contact.

As soon as he left the office.

Ophelia called: "When is Magnus planning to hold Juniper's funeral?"

"Not anymore."

"What?" Ophelia exclaimed over the phone.

Robert said calmly, "He is completely losing his mind now. He refuses to accept Juniper's death. He thinks if she's not dead, why have a funeral?"

Ophelia paused for a moment, still angry. "No funeral, no grave. Juniper lived a lonely life and now even in death, she'll be floating out there all alone?"

"I'm afraid he may not be handling this well. He seems fine on the surface, but the calmer he is, the more dangerous he becomes."

In recent days, Ophelia had been dreaming about Juniper.

She wondered how Jennifer would cry when she found out the truth.
When Magnus returned to Royal View, it was already 10:30 p.m.

Jennifer was still awake, holding up two dresses. "Dad, which dress should I wear tomorrow to see Mom?" she asked, gesturing with the dresses on her body.

She had a lemon yellow one and a white one in her hand.
Magnus looked at her and said, "The yellow one."

"Okay, tomorrow we might be eating a lot of good food, and the white one will get dirty. Dad, are you coming with us tomorrow?"

Looking at that innocent face.
Magnus hesitated for a few seconds and said, "Jennifer, Mom is busy tomorrow."
"But she promised me! She said she would take me to the zoo to see the monkeys!"

"She found a new job and will be busy lately. Her boss asked her to work overtime."
There was no particular expression on Magnus's face, as if he was talking about something ordinary.

Jennifer couldn't understand the masks that adults wear, so she believed it.
"Did Mom call and tell you?"

He replied softly, "Okay."

Jennifer suddenly came closer, pouting and said, "Dad, it seems like you and Mom have a good relationship lately?"

He was taken aback.
The little one said, "Mom used to only call me, never Dad. Now Mom calls Dad too, which means Mom is slowly accepting Dad!"
"Dad, you have to work hard!"
Her sweet voice was full of excitement.
He reached out and rubbed her little head, "Hmm, Dad will work hard."
"Dad, I can't go to the zoo tomorrow, it'll be so boring at home alone. Can I come to work with you? Hehe, I want to bring Mr. Potato too."
Magnus couldn't bear to refuse her, "Okay, but I have to leave at nine. Are you able to wake up?"
Juniper said that Jennifer loved to sleep in, always refusing to get up.
"As long as I'm not going to school, I can wake up!"
Looking at her cheerful appearance, the man's lips finally twitched slightly.

The next morning, Jennifer got up around eight o'clock.

She brushed her teeth, washed her face, and sat down at the table, ready to eat breakfast.

Magnus peeled an egg, took out the yolk, and put the egg white onto Jennifer's plate.

"Dad, how did you know that I don't like egg yolks?"

"Your mom told me."

"Wow, mom even tells you about this now? Dad, I think you'll definitely succeed in your next proposal!"
