Chapter 250 Can't Shake Her Off

Juniper peeled off the foil, holding the pill, and asked, "You sure you want me to take this?"

Magnus grabbed a bottle of water, unscrewed the cap, and handed it to her. He didn't say a word, but the message was clear.

Given their awkward relationship, an accidental pregnancy would be a real mess.

Juniper wasn't some naive eighteen-year-old anymore; she knew better.

She swallowed the pill, took the water, and gulped it down.

Magnus looked at her and said in a deep voice, "I'll chalk last night up to a lapse in control. Don't do something that stupid again."

Juniper stared right at him. "I lost control because I was so excited to see you alive. What about you? Did you skip the condom because you lost control too?"

"You asked for it, Juniper."

"You could've said no," Juniper shot back.

Magnus stayed silent. If he could've refused her so easily, would he have let her make love to him twice last night?

Seeing him quiet, Juniper limped towards the bathroom to freshen up.

Magnus couldn't stand it and scooped her up, placing her on the bed.

He held her injured right ankle and examined it. The ankle, which was red and swollen last night, had turned bruised and looked pretty bad.

He frowned, opened the ointment, and applied it to her.

Juniper just a shirt, nothing underneath. With one leg resting on his, everything was revealed.

Juniper moved uncomfortably, trying to pull her leg back.

He held it in place, frowning. "Don't move."

Maybe it was because she took the pill on an empty stomach, her stomach felt uncomfortable, causing palpitations and nausea.

After treating her ankle, Magnus looked up to see her clutching her stomach, her face pale.

He instinctively thought she was on her period and was about to ask if she had cramps, but a glance revealed that there was no blood.

He could never ignore Juniper. Seeing her in discomfort, he picked her up and placed her on the bed. "Where does it hurt?"

"Everywhere."

She wasn't lying; she was uncomfortable everywhere, both physically and mentally.

Hearing this, Magnus paused and ordered, "Get dressed, we're going to the hospital."

She wrapped her arms around his neck, not letting go, and snuggled into his arms, finding a comfortable position to lie down. "It seems like my stomach is upset from taking the pill on an empty stomach. Going to the hospital won't help much. I'll be fine after a nap."

Hearing this, Magnus felt a pang of guilt and let her hold him. "What do you want to eat? I'll get you something."

Juniper had no appetite, clinging to him and shaking her head. She grabbed his hand and placed it on her waist, saying, "I have a backache."

"If you hadn't been impulsive last night, you wouldn't be feeling so miserable now."

His tone was cold and stern, like a reprimand, but his hand was already massaging her waist, changing the atmosphere.

She was only wearing a loose shirt, and after snuggling in his arms for a while, the shirt no longer covered her thighs.

His eyes darkened, and he pulled the blanket over her.

He leaned back against the headboard and closed his eyes, trying to ignore the situation.

She wasn't asking for a massage; she was clearly torturing him.

But even so, he still instinctively held her. Juniper was his weakness.

Holding her like that, he lost track of time while massaging her.

Looking at her, he couldn't help but worry. "Not using protection and then taking the morning-after pill is just making you suffer. Will you dare to do this again?"

In these situations, men always bear less of the burden. The consequences of not using protection fall entirely on the woman.

Juniper might be foolish with him, but if she didn't know how to protect herself in the future and suffered because of someone else, the thought made his eyes darken.

He hoped that after his death, someone would take care of her, but he feared that person wouldn't be able to do it like he did.

Juniper stayed silent in his arms.

Magnus, not getting a response, pulled her up from his embrace. "Speak."

His tone was cold and hard.

She looked at him, puzzled. "Last night, you said you wouldn't take responsibility for me. This was consensual, and I didn't cling to you for responsibility. So now, Mr. Blackwood, in what capacity are you saying these things to me? You're neither my boyfriend nor my legal partner. In what capacity are you saying these misleading words?"

Before she could finish her accusation, her phone rang.

The caller ID showed Ophelia.

Yesterday, Robert and Ophelia took Jenny to the amusement park for the day. Now, Jenny probably wanted to go home.

She answered the call.

Ophelia asked, "Are you back at Royal View? Jenny said she didn't bring her homework, and she needs to do it before school tomorrow."

Juniper said, "I'm still at Sherlock Valley. I'll probably pick her up this afternoon. Could you and Mr. Brown take care of her a bit longer?"

"What's the trouble? Jenny is so well-behaved. It's more like she's taking care of us."

Juniper couldn't help but laugh, teasing, "If you like it so much, you could have a child of your own."

"I'll just play with your kid. Having my own is too much trouble! But you seem to be in a better mood after going to Sherlock Valley. Did something good happen?" Ophelia asked.

Magnus being alive naturally lifted her spirits.

"Yes, you'll find out this afternoon."

It was a long story, and she didn't want to shock Ophelia and Jenny over the phone.

After hanging up, she looked at Magnus beside her and said, "Jenny wants us to pick her up together. She's at Robert's house and needs to go home to do her homework."

He could refuse her and avoid responsibility, but he couldn't shirk Jenny.

Juniper was clearly using this to force him to go back to Royal View with her.

But she seemed to forget that Royal View was originally Magnus's house. She seemed to naturally assume the role of the hostess.

She was afraid that Magnus would disappear again.

She didn't know much about the organization behind Magnus, Agency 719. If he went back to Agency 719, she might not be able to find him.

Magnus looked at her with an unreadable expression. "Jenny doesn't know I'm alive. Is it Jenny who wants me to go back, or you?"

"Does it matter? Are you saying that you'll go back if Jenny asks you to, but not if I do? If you're alive but don't go back, I won't manage SY for you anymore."

This was a threat, but it was also the truth.

He said calmly, "Go freshen up. I'll check us out."

Juniper's eyes lit up, but she grabbed his hand, still anxious. "Don't lie to me. If you leave, I'll sell SY, take the money, and go somewhere you can't find me with Jenny. Magnus, don't do something you'll regret."
