Chapter 396 Humiliation (1)
Juniper leaned against the terrace, taking in some fresh air.
She sent a few voice messages to Jenny.
The little one had sent her many videos, saying that Grandpa had taken her to many fun places and fed her lots of delicious food. She was growing more and more fond of Grandpa.
Juniper looked at those messages and couldn't help but smile at the cuteness, even through the screen.
Just as she put away her phone, a male voice came from beside her. "Isn't this our school's beauty queen? Juniper, who are you texting? That smile is so sweet."
Juniper looked up and searched her memory for a long time before she vaguely remembered who this person was.
Previously, in the alumni group, he had also "attacked" her verbally.
His name was... Steven Hernandez?
Back then, he had pursued Juniper for almost a year, bringing her breakfast every day. Even after Juniper repeatedly and clearly rejected him, he continued to pester her.
Later, she was forced to break up with Magnus.
Steven then pursued her even more aggressively. At that time, Juniper was in a dark period of her life and was extremely cold towards Steven.
Steven originally thought that after she broke up with Magnus, she would accept him.
However, Juniper's aloof and indifferent attitude completely infuriated him.
Unable to win her over, he became angry out of humiliation and turned from a pursuer into someone who smeared her reputation everywhere.
Steven had clearly drunk a lot, reeking of alcohol, and his tone was very flippant when he spoke to Juniper.
Juniper smiled faintly, "It is none of your business."
Hearing this, Steven wasn't angry. Instead, his interest in her grew even stronger. He lit a cigarette and took a drag, "You're not married yet, right? Well, you were too ruthless back then, ruined your reputation. Even with a pretty face, probably no one wants you now, right?"
"Why don't you come with me?"
He paused, giving her a lewd look, his eyes filled with lust.
Juniper didn't get angry but instead teased him, "I have high standards. If I were to be with you, how much would you give me per month?"
Steven's eyes lit up at her words.
Juniper suddenly seemed willing, and he started to act high and mighty, sneering, "Looks like you were so arrogant in college because you hadn't suffered enough. You've had a tough time these years, right? Magnus not only didn't want you but also retaliated against you. You must have suffered a lot, right? Now you've come to your senses."
Juniper sighed lightly, her tone sincere, "Yes, without the trials of society, how would one know the hardships of life."
She lowered her head, her right hand caressing the 5.2-carat diamond ring on her left ring finger.
Steven naturally saw it too but didn't care, "That ring is pretty. Is it moissanite?"
In his view, Juniper was no longer the Juniper of the past. Having given false testimony, she was almost certainly disqualified from marrying into a wealthy family.
After all, any respectable businessman or scholarly family would never accept such a tainted woman. So, how could she possibly afford such a large real diamond?
Juniper smiled but didn't explain, only saying, "Steven, if you can only afford moissanite, I can't be with you. I'm very shallow and want a lot."
Steven was smoking, polluting the air around them.
Juniper didn't want to stay any longer. She threw out that line and turned to leave.
Steven took a big step forward, blocking her path, and smirked, "I'll marry you, make you Mrs. Hernandez, and give you a hundred thousand dollars a month. How about that?"
Juniper wasn't angry, but the smoke from his cigarette was too irritating.
She frowned slightly.
Steven thought she was being pretentious and deliberately raised his offer, "I'll add another ten thousand dollars, a hundred and ten thousand dollars a month. I'm willing to marry you, which many people wouldn't do. You know your situation; families that care about their reputation wouldn't agree to let you in."
Juniper chuckled, "So your family doesn't care about their reputation?"
Hearing her insult, Steven's face darkened.
But he decided to act a bit more magnanimous. He adopted a lecturing tone, "Juniper, you should have some self-awareness. A hundred and ten thousand dollars a month to marry you is already giving you face. I'm just paying for my youthful infatuation. But after we get married, if I get tired of you and play around outside, you can't interfere."
Juniper sighed, "Then a hundred and ten thousand dollars a month is too little."
"What did you say?"
Juniper said, "Someone gave me a black card with no limit. He's taller, more handsome, smarter than you, and most importantly, he's clean and doesn't fool around. He lets me check on him anytime."
She paused, her tone serious, "Steven, compared to him, you have no competitiveness. Please step aside."
Her voice was clear and cold, exceptionally calm.
But it easily angered Steven.
Steven sneered, "Juniper, are you still daydreaming? With your situation, a hundred and ten thousand dollars a month is more than enough. I can play with you however I want, and you're still acting all high and mighty!"
Juniper raised her hand and slapped him hard!
Steven's first reaction wasn't anger but shock, "You dare hit me?"
"Yes, I hit you. How did our school produce a scumbag like you?"
"I'm a scumbag? You, a scumbag, dare call me a scumbag? You!"
Juniper wanted to leave, but Steven grabbed her arm.
Juniper's eyes coldly swept over him, "Haven't had enough slaps?"
"A hundred and twenty thousand dollars, any more and you're being unreasonable!"
Juniper laughed in anger. This guy was serious, raising the offer bit by bit.
Juniper lifted her arm, shook off his hand, and raised a slender index finger.
Steven sneered, "A million dollars? Dream on!"
Juniper shook her head, "A hundred million dollars, per month. If you can't afford it, step aside."
She humiliated him in the same way.
This tactic particularly got to Steven, and he immediately got anxious, "Juniper, are you crazy? Is your brain waterlogged?"
"Yes, I have a mental illness. Be careful."
A few acquaintances saw this scene and came over to watch the commotion.
They all recognized Juniper. After all, she was the beauty queen of the class of '19, her face was stunning, and her actions back then were ruthless, so she was unforgettable.
Clio and Electra also came to join the fun.
Electra had a look of schadenfreude, "Steven still hasn't forgotten Juniper! Not to mention, Steven, you're quite the romantic. After all these years, you're still thinking about Juniper?"
Clio was surprised that Juniper was even here.
She had only donated five hundred dollars and wasn't a well-known alumna, so how did she get an "admission ticket"?
Clio naturally assumed that Juniper had hooked up with Steven and that Steven had brought her here.
So she laughed and said, "Didn't expect you two to get together behind our backs! Juniper, why didn't you tell us earlier? When you get married, send me an invitation!"
Steven was happy for others to pair him with Juniper. He smiled and pulled Juniper closer, whispering a threat, "With so many classmates around, don't cause trouble!"
