Chapter 375 Successful Divorce
                    "Yes."
This time, when faced with the staff's question, the two of them answered in unison.
The staff nodded. "If there are no other questions, I'll proceed with the normal divorce process for you?"
The divorce procedures went relatively smoothly.
When they came out of the court, Michael and Sinclair received their divorce certificates.
Sinclair sneered, "Divorce is also something worth celebrating. Michael, happy divorce."
As he heard this, Michael couldn't help but think of the time when Sinclair stood here and said to him—
Michael, happy wedding.
His chest felt as if it was stuffed with a large wad of cotton, making it hard to breathe.
He opened the passenger door. "Get in the car, I'll take you somewhere."
Sinclair didn't ask where they were going, she just silently got in the car, enjoying his last bit of tenderness.
As they neared their destination.
Michael said, "I bought a plot for our unborn child here. I'll take you to see it. Since you're leaving, who knows when you'll be back in Imperial Capital."
And no one knew if they would ever meet again.
At the cemetery.
Sinclair stood in front of the tombstone, her heart pounding. "Cherish? Did you name it?"
Michael responded, his voice slightly hoarse. "Yes, in my heart, this child was our treasure. I didn't do well, I didn't protect you properly, and I couldn't keep this child. I owe you and the child."
Sinclair couldn't stay calm. As she looked at the name "Cherish" on the tombstone, her eyes stung with tears.
On the tombstone, it also read—
Father: Michael.
Mother: Sinclair.
She sniffled and asked, "What made you think of getting a plot for the child?"
Michael confessed. "You used to have nightmares. I asked someone about it, and they said the child might have left too tragically and needed a memorial and a place to rest. So I bought this plot."
Her eyes felt hot and wet.
She instinctively tilted her head back, but tears still slipped down from the corners of her eyes.
She wiped them with the back of her hand and forced a bitter smile. "It's a pity I'll never have Cherish again."
The two of them stood silently in front of Cherish's tombstone for a while.
Back in the car.
Sinclair said, "You've treated me to so many meals before, let me treat you to the last one!"
She was referring to when they first met at the company.
Michael saw her eating instant noodles and invited her to a restaurant several times.
Michael didn't refuse, smiling faintly as he agreed. "Alright."
On the way to the restaurant.
Michael was driving, and Sinclair sat in the passenger seat, chatting intermittently as usual.
Sinclair said, "Magnus and Juniper should be getting married soon. I probably won't be able to attend their wedding. They both attended ours. Plus, Juniper helped me before. Please send my regards to them."
"Okay."
Michael didn't tell her that he had completely fallen out with Magnus.
However, he would still give them a wedding gift.
He would have his assistant deliver it; the gift would be enough even if he couldn't be there in person.
Sinclair was silent for a moment before finally asking, "Do you still love Juniper?"
Michael was slightly stunned.
He didn't expect her to suddenly ask this question.
He chuckled, "I probably never really loved Juniper. I have to admit, I was once attracted to her. People always take a second look at beautiful things. Rather than love, I was probably more drawn to the way Juniper was so full of Magnus."
"Actually, they started living together very early on. Back then, Magnus rented an entire apartment for Juniper. She would go there every Saturday, and later she even moved out of her school dorm to live with Magnus."
He had never been this candid with Sinclair about his feelings for Juniper.
It was the first time Sinclair had heard such detailed stories about Juniper and Magnus, and she couldn't help but be a little surprised. "Juniper is quite bold."
Michael continued, "She seems delicate, but she and Magnus are quite similar in personality. Later, I realized that rather than saying I liked Juniper, it was more that I envied her and Magnus for finding each other so early, for being each other's everything. Even though they were scarred, their souls resonated deeply. They were like symbionts, inseparable and unwilling to step out."
"Back then, they lived together, and I had dinner at their place on weekends. That home didn't feel like a rental at all; it was very cozy. The walls of the living room were covered with their photos, creating a very warm atmosphere."
"They even had a cat together. I think Juniper picked it up from a park. It was skinny at first, but they fattened it up."
"My parents passed away early, and I grew up with my sister Patricia. I had a very faint impression of home. Juniper and Magnus's little home was so warm. I was more about envy."
He had once wanted to find a girl like Juniper, someone who would be completely devoted to him, and together they would decorate every corner of their home, maybe even raise a cat or a dog.
Gradually, they would have children, and in the simple yet happy daily life, they would grow old together and spend their lives together.
He would love his wife, love his children, and love his home.
But he had lost all of that.
Michael looked straight ahead at the windshield, calmly recounting all of this, but a warm tear had already escaped his eye.
He smiled and said, "Sinclair, thank you for once giving me a home that truly belonged to me."
During the time when Sinclair had amnesia from the car accident, they decorated their wedding room in Maple Villa, inflating balloons and doing trivial things. During that time of wedding preparations, he was very content and happy.
Sinclair turned her head to look out the car window, tears falling instantly.
Her hands on her lap gradually clenched, but she still smiled. "You will meet someone who makes you feel at home again. Just remember to hold on to her tightly next time."
Michael smiled without saying a word.
He wouldn't meet anyone else.
He was willing to seal himself in this marriage that was completely beyond repair.
A person who was immersed in the past couldn't look forward.
He couldn't see anyone else.
"Sinclair."
"What's up?"
Michael hesitated, his turbulent eyes finally settling into dead silence. "Nothing, after this meal, I'll take you back."
Sinclair said softly, "Alright."
Magnus arrived at the company and immediately checked the list on his computer.
Paul said, "This is all we could find. Evergreen Hospital was very small at the time, and there were probably only a few people on duty in the obstetrics department that night."
Magnus's eyes fell on a familiar surname.
Helena Clark?
Could this person be related to his mother Ava?
He instructed, "Look into this Helena."
