Chapter 162 Someone Makes Progress
Juniper helped Jenny take a bath, and Jenny fell asleep. The yard remained quiet without any sound that could imply Magnus's coming back.
Had something happened to Ava?
After bathing, Juniper took a Paroxetine pill, and then lay on Jenny's bed, ready to sleep.
However, Juniper unexpectedly suffered from insomnia.
She lit up her phone screen, and it was already past midnight.
Magnus had not returned yet.
Could something really be wrong?
As Juniper pondered, the sound of an engine came from the yard.
Magnus entered the house when the cat had already fallen asleep in its cozy cat bed.
Juniper's white suitcase was placed in the corner of the living room on the first floor.
'Juniper seemed like a temporary guest here, ready to leave at any time,' thinking of this, Magnus unconsciously clenched his fingers.
On her suitcase, there was a notebook, which was probably forgotten to be put inside.
Juniper had a habit of writing a diary, which Magnus had always known.
He casually flipped it open.
Inside, she wrote detailed records of everything they had done these days.
"On the first day, say goodnight to the creditor."
"On the second day, have dinner with the creditor's friend."
"On the third day, accompany the creditor to a banquet."
In Juniper's narration, Magnus was just a creditor.
Magnus lightly chuckled in mockery.
These days they had been getting along well, almost making Magnus forget that Juniper was only forced to stay by his side to repay a debt.
Juniper was just cooperating with him perfunctorily.
Magnus's knuckles whiten as he clenched his hand harder holding her diary .
Juniper came down the solid wooden stairs in her pajamas. The room was dimly lit with just a small night light.
She saw Magnus standing downstairs and thought something had happened to Ava, so she asked with concern, "Is your mother okay?"
Juniper stood on the stairs.
Magnus stood downstairs.
Juniper lowered her head.
Magnus looked up at her and said, "She's fine, Just moveing to a new nursing home, so she has been not used to it yet."
Juniper probably could guess the reason for the move.
However, both of them tacitly avoided discussing that topic. Silence was the best way to handle it, thoughsome grievances, left unspoken, did not mean they did not exist.
Magnus did not come up, maintaining a distance, and asked her, "When are you going to record Love Variety?"
"Leaving on Monday."
Which meant the day after tomorrow.
"Alright, I'll have Paul drive you."
Magnus walked upstairs, brushing past her.
Juniper held onto the stair railing, her back to Magnus, and asked, "Are you upset?"
"Does it matter if I'm upset? If you're trying to please the creditor, there's no need. I know you are unwilling to stay by my side. You are counting down the days. Just endure for another 22 days. Time passes quickly."
Magnus's voice was cold and mocking.
Juniper's face paled slightly and said, "I just want to peacefully coexist in the remaining time, and make each other happy. Is that not good?"
Both of them stood with their backs to each other.
Magnus sneered, saying, "Make each other happy, and then what? You still have to go back to Southern City. Juniper, is this your idea of making each other happy?"
Magnus preferred not to have such false illusions.
"I'm sorry, I..."
"You don't owe me anything. No need to apologize to me. Moreover, you don't have to pretend to be warm towards me. Just do whatever you need to do."
Magnus went upstairs.
Juniper stood there, lowering her eyes, a shadow of gloom lying beneath her long eyelashes.
Magnus returned to the master bedroom.
He sat on the edge of the bed, feeling restless.
Robert was right. Juniper just wanted to go back to Southern City. She never changed her mind, never thought of staying by his side.
The more pleasant their time together was, the more hurtful the memories would become.
How could he forget that before creating bonds, he needed to be prepared to be hurt.
Just the thought of it that 22 days later, she would completely leave him,a suffocating feeling gripped Magnus's heart.
The sense of losing control swirled in his chest, growing more rampant.
Finally, Magnus opened a drawer and took out a bottle of Lithium carbonate tablets that had been unused for a long time, swallowing a few.
A bitter taste spread on his tongue.
Magnus frowned, looking at his right hand, which was trembling uncontrollably.
This medication was effective for treating bipolar disorder, but the side effects were significant.
After Juniper jumped into the sea, Magnus thought she was dead.
That year, Magnus couldn't live without this stuff, and he vomited several times after taking it.
He looked at the pink diamond she had taken off, feeling extremely agitated.
He suddenly threw the small bottle in his hand against the wall.
Pills scattered all over the floor.
Magnus closed his eyes, stepped on the pills, and went straight into the bathroom.
Juniper slept in Jenny's room.
She waited for a long time, but tonight, Magnus did not carry her over.
Juniper hugged Jenny's soft body and fell asleep in a daze.
At the night before Juniper left for S City,Magnus and Robert were drinking at the Night Harbor Bar,one shot after another.
Robert glanced at Magnus and sneered, saying, "Weren't you showing off your love here just a few days ago? How's that working out for you now? There's a saying... PDA can be the death of romance."
Magnus gripped his glass tightly, his knuckles turning white, and coldly retorted, "You're on the verge of divorce. Even if we are both facing the breakup of our respective relationships, yours will break first."
"I'm about to get a divorce. What about you? Have you ever been married? Has Juniper given you any recognition?"
Without a proper title, things were not right.
Thinking of this, Robert felt more at ease.
Even if Ophelia had someone else in her heart, he was still the one on Ophelia's marriage certificate.
As long as Robert didn't relent, Thomas would be seen as a homewrecker by everyone.
Magnus...Though he had a child with Juniper, he had never became Juniper's husband.
Juniper looked like she was ready to return to Southern City, which meant she never thought about being with Magnus forever.
After pondering for a while, Robert patted Magnus on the shoulder sympathetically and sighed, "Comparing the two, I think Juniper is less responsible than Ophelia. Juniper seems like the kind of bad women who cheat people into having a child without giving them a proper relationship. There are thousands of women in the world, why only like Juniper? She's going on Love Variety, never even considering your feelings. I've always advised you to break up."
It sounded like Magnus and Juniper were in relationship right now,but the fact was thatthey weren't , so how to break up?
Magnus's eyes and brows exuded a cold and stern air. He took a sip of his drink and casually retorted, "You know. I've always advised separation."
Were they warming each other up tonight, or hurting each other?
Juniper seemed obedient, but deep down she was more determined than anyone else. Once she made a decision, it was hard for others to pull her back.
Juniper was much more ruthless at heart than the seemingly carefree Ophelia.
Magnus did not deny this.
When Juniper jumped into the sea, she was willing to let go even of Jenny, let alone Magnus.
Thinking of this, Magnus's eyes flashed with obvious agitation.
Magnus's right hand holding the glass trembled slightly.
The phone rang, and the caller ID made Magnus's eyes darken.
He answered the call.
A clear and mature female voice came through the phone, saying, "Didn't we agree for you to come at eight? Where are you?"
"I'm at the Night Harbor Bar."
"Drinking while on medication. Meeting a patient like you, I'm really unlucky! But... you're lucky tonight, I happen to be nearby, shall I come pick you up?"
Magnus hesitated for a few seconds.
However, looking at his uncontrollably trembling right hand, he responded in a deep voice, "Okay."
Five minutes later,Magnus, right under Robert's nose, openly got into a car with a strange woman.
Robert was stunned, quickly took out his phone, and snapped a photo.
Magnus's shining moment!
It had to be commemorated!
After taking the photo, he still looked at it in astonishment.
Had Magnus realized the need for change?
This was big news.
Robert wanted to broadcast it to the world that Magnus had a new development!
He casually posted it on his social media—
[Someone has made progress. Wish him success.]
The photo showed Magnus's back as he opened the car door, and the face of the woman partially visible through the half-opened window.
They looked quite fitting.
Rubbing his chin, Robert appreciated the photo, a hint of dark satisfaction flashing in his eyes.
Such good news should be celebrated by all.
