Chapter 237 Do You Know the Meaning of SY
Turns out, Aria was his shrink.
Juniper suddenly got it—Paul was right. She didn't know Magnus at all.
She had no clue he had bipolar disorder, let alone that Aria was his therapist.
Paul took a beat and then said, "Mr. Blackwood's always got burn marks on his hands. He hated you for ditching him but couldn't help but soften towards you, so he resorted to self-harm to remind himself not to fall deeper. But if he could really pull himself out, his illness would've been cured ages ago. If he truly hated you, would he have dropped $1.5 billion to get you out from David? If he truly hated you, when you jumped into the sea, he should've felt relieved, not followed you without a second thought!"
"Ms. Beaumont, in your eyes, cutting off contact and completely separating is a form of reconciliation for both of you. With all the bad blood between you, a peaceful split is the best outcome. But do you know what this means for Mr. Blackwood?"
Paul kept going, "It means he loses you forever. He love you so much that even when he hated you, he couldn't help but protect you from danger. But you forced him to let go. You have PTSD, and he couldn't do anything about it, so he had to let you go. For you, it's a relief. When you got back to Southern City, your PTSD was almost gone, right? But Mr. Blackwood's bipolar disorder got worse because losing you intensified his pain."
"So if only one of you could live, he'd choose you without a second thought. He's long lost the will to live. All that is a lie. Only you would believe it and torment him like this."
Paul's words pierced Juniper's heart like a dagger, inflicting gut-wrenching pain without shedding a single drop of blood.
She lowered her head, her whole body feeling like it was in an icebox, cold to the bone.
After several tries, she finally managed to speak in a hoarse voice, "What else don't I know?"
Paul took a deep breath, feeling he was a bit cruel, but if Magnus was dead and Juniper still knew nothing about these things, wouldn't that be too ridiculous?
So he chose to spill it all.
"When you jumped into the sea, the rescue team searched for days. We all thought you were dead, but he never believed it. He persistently searched for you all over the country, even going to Southern City to ask Christopher for help. At that time, I really thought this was self-torture. But Mr. Blackwood just wouldn't give up."
He added, "Ms. Beaumont, I'm not saying this to make you feel guilty. I just think that if Mr. Blackwood passes away and you still don't know these things, then Mr. Blackwood would be too pity."
Indeed, Magnus, such a proud guy, silently went to Southern City, following her like a shadow.
Juniper sat on the bed, burying her face in her knees.
She hugged herself tightly, uncontrollably trembling, "Paul, please leave. I need to be alone for a while."
She was so sad that her heart felt like it was being crushed.
So, the one who survived would feel this much pain.
She cried until she was exhausted, and as soon as she closed her eyes, she started having nightmares.
In the dream, there was a sea of fire.
Magnus stood on the deck of the burning yacht, smiling distantly and coldly.
He said to her, "Juniper, I don't love you anymore. You're free."
Juniper wanted to grab him.
But his figure was like a ghost.
She couldn't grab him, no matter how much she screamed his name. He just walked into the fire without looking back, turning to ashes.
He didn't want her anymore.
Juniper woke up in a cold sweat in the middle of the night.
She turned to the left, reaching out to touch the empty bed, suddenly remembering the night before she was taken to the high seas.
He was drunk, thinking it was a dream, holding her so tightly on this bed, kissing her ear, repeatedly asking, "Is Ronald better than me?"
Back then, she thought he was just jealous.
But Paul said Magnus followed her, watching her and Ronald shopping at the supermarket, going to concerts.
Even though there was nothing between her and Ronald, Magnus must have been so heartbroken behind them.
Juniper reached out to touch the pillow he had slept on, unable to sleep.
She got up and went to the study.
This was where Magnus spent most of his time.
She sat in his office chair and found a pair of glasses next to his computer on the desk.
She tried them on; the prescription wasn't high, and wearing them didn't make her dizzy.
Magnus didn't used to be nearsighted, and she had never seen him wear glasses.
They had been apart for seven years, and for the first time, Juniper felt she didn't know Magnus at all.
The drawer on the right side of the desk had an electronic lock.
Without thinking, Juniper entered her birthday.
As expected, the lock opened.
Opening the drawer, there was nothing important inside, to be precise, nothing of value.
Inside the drawer were the pair of silver rings they used to wear, the pink diamond ring she had worn and returned to him, the couple's phones they bought in love, and the small sketchbook held together with transparent tape.
Juniper's fingers trembled as she took out the small sketchbook.
When he went to prison and broke up with her, he tore this sketchbook to pieces in front of her.
She thought he had thrown it away long ago.
But unexpectedly, he not only didn't throw it away but also painstakingly pieced it back together.
Juniper flipped through it page by page, her soft fingertips slightly stung by the tape.
Magnus was such a fool.
Why did he keep this for self-torture?
She picked up the silver ring. In the small motel in Sherlock Valley, she had returned this silver ring to him before.
Now, Juniper put the silver ring back on her ring finger.
She sat in the study all night.
Early the next morning, Robert and Ophelia arrived at Royal View.
They had already heard the news of Magnus's accident.
Ophelia came to Royal View out of concern for Juniper.
But Robert's face was somewhat grave, clearly having something to say to her.
Juniper had calmed down a lot, "Mr. Brown, what happened?"
Robert said, "I don't know who leaked the news of Magnus's accident, but now the entire company is in a panic. I checked the stock before I came, and it's plummeting. The executives couldn't reach Magnus this morning and have been blowing up my phone. If Magnus is really gone, what will happen to his shares?"
Juniper didn't think much, "He passed away, what do we need shares for? Whoever wants to buy them, sell them."
Robert frowned, "Juniper, do you know what SY means? Magnus founded SY with his own. Do you know who this company was created for?"
