Chapter 299 You're Getting Engaged to Someone Else?
Ronald was momentarily taken aback as he glanced at the news flash.
The headline mentioned "Quinn," but was it talking about Juniper or Sophie?
Jenny, short and cute, stood by Ronald's leg, her little head tilting up, "Ronald, what's up?"
"Nothing," he replied.
By the time Juniper got back, Ronald had already stashed his phone away.
He wasn't sure if the news was legit or who the female lead was. Since Juniper and Jenny were heading to Solara, he decided to keep it to himself.
Just then, the boarding announcement echoed through the hall.
Ronald said, "Let's go, it's time to board."
Juniper took Jenny's hand, and Ronald followed behind them as they headed to the boarding gate.
Flying straight from Southern City to Solara would take at least ten hours.
Before takeoff, Juniper glanced at her phone.
No missed calls or unread messages.
Jenny, sitting next to her, blinked her big eyes and asked, "Mom, we're about to take off. Should we video call Dad?"
Soon, the phone would lose signal.
Juniper checked the time.
Three-thirty in the afternoon.
At this time, Magnus was probably busy, maybe in a meeting.
Juniper didn't want to bother him, "How about we video call him after we safely arrive in Solara? He can also see the scenery there."
Ronald reminded, "Solara is seven hours behind the Imperial Capital. By the time we get to Solara, it will be late at night, and it will be early morning in the Imperial Capital. Magnus might not be able to take your call."
Juniper hesitated, wondering if she should call now.
A flight attendant came down the aisle, smiling politely, "Hello, we're about to take off. Please fasten your seatbelt and switch your phone to airplane mode or turn it off. Thank you for your cooperation."
Juniper nodded, "Okay."
She switched to airplane mode.
After the plane took off, Jenny kept munching on snacks, her little mouth busy.
Before boarding, Juniper had downloaded cartoons onto the tablet for her.
The little one was holding a milk cup in one hand, engrossed in the cartoon, looking very content.
Juniper had no appetite and dozed off, half-awake, leaning to the side.
In a daze, she felt her body floating.
Magnus hugged her from behind in her dream, and when she turned her head, he kissed her.
As the kiss deepened, their fingers intertwined, and Juniper felt the ring on his ring finger.
She instinctively looked down and found that the ring on his ring finger was not their couple's ring; she had never seen this ring before.
She asked him about the ring.
Magnus smiled nonchalantly, kissing her ear, "Juniper, a ring on the ring finger is naturally a wedding ring."
She realized something, her face turning pale, "But this isn't our wedding ring. Are you going to marry someone else?"
The roar of the plane grew louder.
The announcement came on, "Ladies and gentlemen, we are about to encounter strong turbulence. Please remain seated and refrain from using the restroom."
Juniper woke up from the nightmare, drenched in cold sweat.
Jenny turned to her, worried, "Mom, what's wrong?"
She swallowed her dry throat, realizing it was just a nightmare, and sighed in relief, "Nothing, just a bad dream."
The little one handed her a small water bottle, opening the lid, "Mom, drink some water!"
Juniper took the bottle and drank a few sips, finally calming down.
She touched Jenny's head, her gaze falling on the plain silver ring on her finger, her eyes filled with worry.
But soon, she convinced herself it was just a silly nightmare.
Probably because of all the recent stress and her messed-up sleep schedule, making her overthink.
How could Magnus marry someone else?
Whether rationally or emotionally, he wouldn't.
SY Group, President's Office.
Paul hurried over with a tablet.
"Mr. Blackwood, the news says you're getting engaged to Quinn, the Abbotts' daughter, but the photo in the article is of you and Sophie. Did the reporter mess up? Should I notify PR to take it down?"
He wondered if Magnus would be furious and take it out on Sophie or the Abbotts.
But Magnus's tone was calm, "No need."
Paul couldn't understand Magnus's intention and cautiously reminded, "But if Ms. Beaumont sees this news, won't she misunderstand?"
Magnus's eyes darkened as he glanced at the time.
By now, Juniper and Jenny's flight should have taken off.
He hadn't authorized the release of this news.
He just didn't expect that after he agreed with Sophie, the news would be out so quickly. It seemed Sophie was more eager to get the antidote.
He instructed, "Keep an eye on Windsor Group and Sophie. Report any anomalies to me."
Paul couldn't help but ask, "Mr. Blackwood, are you really going to get engaged to Sophie? If Ms. Beaumont finds out, I'm afraid..."
Given Juniper's character, soft on the outside but strong on the inside, if she knew about this, no matter how much she loved Magnus, she wouldn't stay with him.
Magnus frowned, his eyes deep, "The priority is to get the antidote. Everything else is secondary."
Only with the antidote could he and Christopher have a chance to survive.
Even if there was only one antidote, at least one of them could survive.
At least Juniper wouldn't have to face losing him and then her biological father.
He didn't want her to face such a dilemma.
Ten hours later.
Juniper and Jenny arrived safely at Solara's airport.
Magnus had arranged everything. As soon as they exited the gate, a driver was waiting at the designated spot.
After confirming that the driver was arranged by Magnus, the three of them got into the car.
Solara's winter was snowy.
Not long after the car started, snowflakes began to fall outside the window.
Jenny opened the window, reaching out to catch the snowflakes, but they melted in her warm little hand within seconds.
The little one lowered her head, muttering, "I've only seen the shape of snowflakes in books. I didn't even get a good look before they melted. Mom, how is Solara's snow different from the Imperial Capital's snow?"
At this age, kids were full of questions.
They asked about everything they encountered.
Juniper patted her head, teasing, "In Solara's snow, there probably won't be many footprints. Tomorrow morning, when you wake up, the yard will be full of clean snow, perfect for building a snowman."
Jenny, newly arrived in Solara, was fascinated by everything she saw from the car window.
The house Magnus bought in Solara was a three-story villa with a large yard.
As the car pulled up to the door, several servants came out to greet them.
