Chapter 298 Nausea
When Sinclair arrived at Maple Villa, he found Michael already kneeling and mourning through the night, with Patricia's portrait hanging on the wall.
His face was blank and cold, with bloodshot eyes. "Patricia died a horrible death. It's my fault."
Patricia had caused two deaths, and Sinclair just wanted her to face justice.
But she never thought Patricia would die so tragically.
She couldn't be completely indifferent. After all, she was the one who told Magnus about Patricia causing Lyra's death.
She indirectly caused Patricia's death.
Sinclair slowly squatted down and hugged Michael. "I'm sorry."
He looked confused and forced a smile. "Why are you apologizing to me? I'm the one who should be sorry."
Sinclair couldn't lie to him. She told him everything, "I told Magnus about Patricia causing Lyra's death, but I didn't know he would go that far. I thought he would just scare her a bit and then have her sentenced to life or..."
She wanted revenge on Patricia, but not for her to die so horribly.
Hearing that, Michael's gaze grew more lifeless, and then he asked with red eyes, "Why are you telling me this?"
"I'm sorry, Michael."
Patricia's tragic end was partly her fault.
Michael gripped her shoulders tightly and laughed. "Sinclair, why did you side with Magnus? Patricia was unforgivable, but why did you have to be so cruel and let her die so horribly? When she passed away, her body had no good skin left, and the water dungeon was full of dead rats. Magnus was ruthless, so why did you help him? You're my wife."
She looked at Michael, her guilt growing. "I'm sorry."
Patricia was already dead, and it was too late to say anything.
Her accounts with Michael and Patricia were settled.
Michael's Adam's apple bobbed violently, and he swayed, laughing in despair. "She did so many bad things, she deserved all of this. I never thought you would let her go, but why did you have to kill her like this."
This was also beyond Sinclair's expectations, but she didn't deny it. She only said, "I hated her too much at the time. She killed my child and made me infertile for life. I just wanted to take revenge on her. But I was afraid you would help her and use your connections to reduce her sentence, so I told Magnus directly. Michael, it's all my fault. I'm sorry."
Indeed, she was the one who pushed Patricia to Magnus.
Michael shook his head hopelessly. "Sinclair, you don't need to apologize. It's me and Patricia who owe you."
Sinclair raised her hand to wipe away her tears.
Patricia's tragic death was partly her doing, so there was no future for her and Michael.
She took out two divorce agreements from her bag. "I've already had the divorce agreements drafted by a lawyer. Your assets have nothing to do with me, and I don't want your money. If you think there's no problem, just sign it."
Michael didn't take the divorce agreement. "Do you have to force me to sign it now?"
"I'm just telling you. We can talk about it after everything is settled."
She had loved Michael before, so she couldn't be so heartless.
Michael grabbed her wrist and held her tightly in his arms.
His voice was choked with sobs, "Sinclair, don't leave me. Just let me hold you for a bit, please."
Even if it was just for a moment.
Sinclair slowly raised her hand and gently hugged him.
When she got back from Maple Villa, she felt dazed and had a chill down her spine.
She slept fitfully until midnight and then developed a fever.
Getting involved in their circle was the thing Sinclair regretted the most.
She slept until the next afternoon, broke into a sweat, and the fever finally subsided.
She then transferred back the money that Michael had lent her for her father's surgery.
Back then, Michael had helped her. Her dad had stomach cancer, and she didn't know where to get the money, so she called Michael.
She didn't expect him to be so kind. Even though he didn't remember her, he still transferred $100,000 to her without hesitation.
From beginning to end, he never asked her to repay the money.
Maybe even Michael himself had forgotten about it.
But for Sinclair, their story began with that $100,000.
Where it began, it ended.
If it weren't for Patricia, maybe they wouldn't have ended up like this.
But many things in life didn't come with "ifs" or "what-ifs."
Southern City Airport.
Ronald bought a cup of coffee and handed it to Juniper. "There's still half an hour before boarding. Do you want to call Magnus again?"
Juniper held the coffee, hesitated, and then shook her head. "Forget it. I called him in the middle of the night last night. He's probably in a meeting."
Besides, there wasn't much to say.
She wanted to call him just to find an excuse to hear his voice.
But she thought she might go back, so there was no need to make it so sentimental.
The most excited one on the trip was Jenny.
For her, going to Solara was just a trip for fun.
Jenny stood by the floor-to-ceiling window in the boarding area, looking outside, and suddenly exclaimed, "Mom, it's snowing outside!"
Juniper walked over, a bit worried. "Will the snow affect the flight?"
Ronald said, "The snow looks light, so it shouldn't. At most, it might delay the flight by an hour. Are you still not wanting to go to Solara?"
Juniper laughed, "Not really. I just don't know why, but I'm a bit worried. Ronald, is the situation with SY and Windsor Group really that bad recently?"
Ronald nodded, not hiding anything, his expression a bit serious. "It's not very optimistic. Windsor Group is in turmoil because the news about Christopher got out, and now the group is divided into several factions, each with their own agenda. As for SY's internal situation, I'm not sure, but looking at SY's stock, it's indeed quite volatile. SY had leveraged quite a bit before, and if anything unfavorable happens, the losses could be significant. But given their financial strength, it shouldn't be a big problem. The more pressing issue is that the Shadow Syndicate is targeting SY and Windsor Group."
The bitter coffee went down Juniper's throat, making her feel a bit uncomfortable.
Ronald noticed, "Is your stomach upset?"
She nodded, "My schedule has been terrible lately. I always feel a bit nauseous. Ronald, I'm going to the restroom."
"Okay."
After Juniper left, Ronald suddenly received a news alert: [SY Group President Magnus and Windsor Group Heiress Quinn to Get Engaged Today!]
