Chapter 182 Blacklisted
Patricia was sprawled on her bed, scrolling through her phone, plotting how to get Juniper away from Magnus. Suddenly, she heard an engine revving in the villa's yard.
She tossed her phone aside and headed downstairs. It was Michael
"Michael, what are you doing here in the middle of the day?" she asked.
She thought, 'Isn't it a workday? Shouldn't he be at the office?'
Michael shot her a cold look. "I'm heading to Oakvale County."
"Oakvale County?" Patricia frowned. "Isn't that Sinclair's hometown? Michael, you can't be serious. Are you really falling for her tricks and going to bring her back? This is just a ploy! She's doing this on purpose..."
Before she could finish, Michael cut her off, his voice icy. "Before I get back, you better pack your things and leave."
Patricia's face turned red with anger. "Why? You're going to fetch that woman, and I have to move out? Where am I supposed to go? I'm your sister! Are you going to make me homeless?"
Michael's tone was firm. "You're 25, Patricia. You're not a kid anymore. You need to learn to be independent. Moving out and facing some challenges will be good for you. You've been spoiled because you've never had to struggle."
Patricia yelled, "Why should I struggle? You're my brother, living in a big house, and I have to suffer outside? Fine, our parents are gone, I've got no one to help me, and now even you are turning against me! If our parents knew, they'd never forgive you!"
Michael sighed. "I'm doing this for your own good. You'll understand someday. Our parents passed away early, and I have to look out for you. Seeing how you've turned out, if I don't step in, I wouldn't be able to face them."
With that, Michael went upstairs to pack, not looking back.
Patricia stood there, fuming. "Michael, you'll regret this! Sinclair is just toying with you!"
Michael ignored her, heading straight to his bedroom and slamming the door.
Patricia's shrill voice gave Michael a headache. He sat on his bed, looking exhausted.
For the past two days, he'd been trying to call Sinclair, but she never picked up.
He had no choice but to text her.
[Sinclair, did you go back to Oakvale County?]
As soon as he sent it, he got a notification that his message was blocked.
Michael was stunned. His first reaction wasn't anger, but shock.
He'd thought Sinclair was just throwing a tantrum. But first, she left a breakup message, then vanished, and now she blocked him, giving him no chance to make things right.
He thought, 'Is she serious?'
They were about to get married. Breaking up over a photo without even talking to him seemed too rash.
Michael couldn't put his feelings into words.
Staring at the blocked message notification, he frowned deeply.
It felt like he'd been raising a puppy, thinking it would always be there, wagging its tail. But one day, the puppy ran away without warning, choosing to wander rather than stay with him.
In Michael's mind, marriage was a given as long as he wanted it. The idea that Sinclair might not want it never crossed his mind. If the wedding was off, it would be because he called it off, not her.
But now, Michael was confused.
He didn't understand how he had missed this side of Sinclair.
At Royal View, Naomi brought over a trash can and asked, "Ms. Beaumont, is this clothing thrown in the wrong place, or do you really not want it? It looks pretty new, so I thought I'd check with you."
Juniper thought, 'Isn't this the outfit I wore last night? I'm sure I've tossed it into the dirty laundry basket, not the trash can.'
On the island, Magnus had thrown away several of her clothes, and she didn't understand why.
Her clothes weren't expensive, but she hadn't brought many back to the Imperial Capital. Now, Magnus had almost thrown them all away. With only ten days left, she didn't know what she could wear.
These days, Magnus was working from home, which was a rare sight.
Juniper glanced upstairs and went directly to the study to find him. "Magnus, did you throw away the outfit I wore last night?"
Magnus paused slightly at her sudden question.
He replied indifferently, "Just a few clothes. I'll go shopping with you this afternoon."
Juniper was puzzled. "Why throw away my clothes?"
Magnus explained, "Last night's outfit got on William's white coat. White coats have the most germs, and I have a cleanliness obsession."
Juniper was amused by his explanation. "William hugged me last night, so I also got germs on me. Why didn't you throw me away too?"
"Clothes can be replaced; but if I throw you away, there's no second Juniper in this world." Magnus' tone was light, but it left no room for argument.
This answer left her speechless.
He stood up and looked down at her. "Shall I go shopping with you this afternoon?"
Juniper said, "Aren't you working? I can actually go shopping with Ophelia."
She thought, 'Besides, will a man like Magnus have the patience to go shopping?'
He thought, 'Why does she always have to find Ophelia?'
Magnus's eyes darkened, and he snorted lightly. "Do you like Ophelia?"
Juniper was stunned, thinking, 'What nonsense is Magnus talking about?
She thought, 'Ophelia and I aren't lesbians!'
In Oakvale County, Lakeside Town.
The sky was gloomy, as if it was about to rain.
Mila Hope hung the freshly washed clothes on the indoor balcony and looked at her daughter studying in the living room, feeling puzzled. "Sinclair, how long are you staying this time?"
Sinclair's return was quite sudden.
Sinclair nodded. "Mom, haven't you always wanted me to come back and work? I'm preparing for an exam."
Mila asked, "What exam?"
Sinclair said, "Federal Civil Service Exam. If I pass, I'll work near home in the future. Haven't you always complained that I don't come home often? Now I'll be working here, so you can see me every day."
Since her father passed away from stomach cancer, it had just been Mila and Sinclair at home. Sinclair had studied in the Imperial Capital and stayed there to work after graduation.
She used to come back only during holidays, and even then, she would stay just one night before returning to work in the Imperial Capital.
This time, she suddenly came back and said she wanted to work here, which made Mila feel something was off.
Mila asked with concern, "Sinclair, be honest with me, did something happen?"
