Chapter 259 Sweet Date, As If Returning to Seven Years Ago
Tonight, she brought up Sinclair's wedding, but it was more of a subtle hint. It felt like hitting a pillow, though—Magnus didn't react at all.
She didn't want to cry. Whether from anger or sadness, tears felt humiliating.
Magnus just held her. After a while, the sharp pain in his heart started to ease. He sighed and loosened his grip a bit, his big hand gently caressing her damp, delicate face. "Marriage is a big deal. You're not Sinclair, and I'm not Michael. If I want to marry you, it'll be after careful thought. So, Juniper, give me a little more time, okay?"
Juniper glared at him. "Don't make excuses. If you're not ready to get married, just say so."
She tried to pull away, but Magnus chuckled, grabbed her arm, and pulled her back. "Once I handle these issues and bring you and Jenny back from Southern City, I'll marry you."
But he wasn't sure if he would live to see that day. For now, he had to calm her down, or she might not even go to Southern City.
Juniper always had a way of making him lie.
He hated lying, but he had to do it for her.
Juniper stared into his eyes, trying to see if he was telling the truth. But when Magnus wanted to lie, she couldn't see through him.
Right now, his eyes were filled with helplessness and affection, not looking fake at all.
Juniper let out a small sigh of relief, silently looking at him, her gaze softening.
Magnus lowered his head and kissed her forehead, chuckling softly. "Feeling better?"
"Depends on how you behave."
Juniper felt she was too easy to placate and would eventually be controlled by him.
She still struggled a bit to show she wasn't completely appeased. Magnus smiled, grabbed her wrist, and pulled her into a dark corner of the parking lot, pinning her against the wall.
"How do you want me to behave?" he asked.
After Michael and Sinclair's wedding this weekend, he would personally send her away. In these few short days, he hoped she would be happy.
Magnus's tall frame completely shielded her. In front of her was his chest, behind her was the wall, and her vision was shrouded in shadow.
In the narrow, confined space, Juniper slowly looked up at his handsome features, half-hidden in the dim light.
The turmoil in his eyes was intense.
Just as he was about to get closer, Juniper instinctively tried to run. "The movie is about to start. Let's go!"
He pressed her back, pinning her in the corner, aggressively advancing.
His kiss dominantly claimed all her breath.
Juniper was kissed until she went limp, her hands unconsciously clutching the fabric of his shirt at his waist.
He slightly bent over, wrapping her in his open black trench coat. Her nose was filled with his fresh scent, a faint cedarwood fragrance mixed with a subtle hint of rose.
Juniper slightly opened her eyes. "Did you use my perfume?"
"No." He rarely used cologne.
"Then how?" She was puzzled.
The rose perfume she used had a cool tone, without any sweet fragrance, making it neither gaudy nor overly sensual.
It was considered a unisex perfume, suitable for both men and women.
Magnus looked at her and said hoarsely, "Maybe it's because I've been holding you a lot these past few days? Your scent has rubbed off on me."
He was objectively analyzing, but for some reason, looking at his particularly intense dark eyes, Juniper's face flushed, and her heart raced.
"Let's go. If we don't leave now, the movie will start." She tried to leave.
Magnus pulled her back again, his large hand around her waist, staring at her kiss-swollen lips.
Juniper's eyelashes fluttered slightly. "You want to kiss again?"
Even though it was pitch dark and no one was around, Juniper was still on edge.
"I suddenly feel like watching a movie is pointless," Magnus murmured.
Juniper swallowed hard. "But we booked the whole theater. We can't waste the money. Besides, I picked this movie, and you haven't watched it with me before."
He furrowed his brows slightly. "What kind of movie? I remember watching action movies with you."
Juniper instinctively covered his mouth, scolding him, "Not that kind of movie! It's a proper romance film."
Magnus raised an eyebrow, pulled her small hand down, and squeezed it in his palm, calmly asking, "Are there proper romance films?"
Romance films without any erotic content were just for kids.
Juniper was speechless.
How could he say such things with a straight face!
Seven years ago, when they first moved in together, Juniper was young and curious, pestering him to watch those kinds of movies with her.
At first, Magnus flatly refused, always thinking it was her friend Ophelia who had corrupted her. But he couldn't refuse her.
He was never interested in those things. Back in the boys' dormitory, some roommates would watch and discuss which woman in the movie was attractive.
For him, it was better to look at Juniper than at those movies.
But Juniper insisted on watching, so he had to accompany her. However, not long after, Magnus couldn't stand it and turned off the computer.
He really couldn't stand Juniper watching other men.
That night, he kissed her repeatedly, whispering dominantly in her ear, "From now on, don't look at other men. If you want to see, just look at me."
Magnus half-hugged Juniper as they walked to the private theater upstairs.
The movie Juniper picked was relatively old, the 2007 film "Atonement." Magnus had heard of it. It seemed to be a tragic film.
He handed the bucket of popcorn to Juniper. "Why did you choose this movie?"
Juniper sat down, leaned back, and patted her shoulder. "You don't like it? If you find it boring, you can sleep on my shoulder."
Magnus's mouth twitched, and he really did lean over and rest his head on Juniper's shoulder.
Seven years ago, they often did this.
Juniper loved watching movies, good or bad, with a wide range of tastes, nothing was off-limits.
But Magnus didn't like watching these movies. However, he wouldn't let her do such intimate things with others. Every time he accompanied her to the theater, if he wasn't interested, he would hold her and sleep.
Not really sleep, just resting his eyes. At that time, he had just started his business, was very busy and tired. Accompanying Juniper to watch movies was also a good opportunity for him to catch up on sleep.
In the private theater, the large screen glowed softly as they sat alone together.
Juniper held the popcorn, glancing at Magnus resting on her shoulder.
He really closed his eyes, ready to sleep, but she wasn't annoyed at all. Her slender hand reached over and adjusted his open trench coat.
Winter was approaching in Imperial Capital, and the weather was chilly.
Knowing he wasn't really asleep, she asked, "Do you want some popcorn?"
As she asked, she already had a piece of popcorn ready at his mouth.
Magnus didn't like junk food, but he never refused Juniper's feeding.
However, halfway through the movie, when Juniper fed him popcorn again, Magnus deliberately bit her fingertip. She winced slightly, about to pull back, but he held her hand.
He leaned over, took the popcorn from her hand, placed it aside, and gently hugged her, pulling her onto his lap. His breath was enticing. "Did you book the whole theater just to eat popcorn? Didn't you say we could do something else? Juniper, are you tricking me?"
