Chapter 85 Messy Situation

Alexander quickly arrived at the X City courthouse.

Once he reached the office, his eyes instantly found Juniper, and he breathed a sigh of relief.

Juniper, seeing him, didn't appear surprised.

X City was under Alexander's control.

It was no wonder the dean had notified Alexander.

"Juniper, what kind of trouble are you making? Spouting nonsense here in the court. You come here instead of going home to X City? Are you out of your mind? Come on, let's go home!" Alexander reached out to grab her.

But Juniper did not have it. "You know best what you've done. Whether I'm making a scene or not, you're well aware."

This time, Juniper's actions were more than just a scene. She had already leaked the matter to the media.

Alexander could soon find himself in the eye of the storm.

Once everything came to light, his position as governor would be on shaky ground.

The Beaumonts would also become a target of public criticism.

Juniper, as one of the "culprits" in this case, naturally couldn't escape either.

Alexander glanced at the dean and said, "You go ahead and step out. She's my daughter. She's just acting up and disturbing your work, and I apologize for that."

Upon hearing this, the dean immediately relaxed, "That's good then, governor. You should have a good talk with your daughter and try to keep your temper."

Once everybody else had left, only Juniper and Alexander remained in the office.

Alexander's tone softened immediately, "Juniper, are you out of your mind? This has been going on for over six years now. What good does it do to cause a scene now? Magnus has already served three years. Do you understand the consequences of trying to overturn his case now?"

"I know, and I'm prepared. I'll face the consequences for my own mistakes."

Alexander insisted, "Have you lost your senses? Is it worth it? He has served three years. Do you want to go in for another three? What about Jennifer if you're in jail? Have you thought about her at all?"

Juniper responded with a smile that held no anger, "When did I fail to notice that Alexander has such consideration for others? Are you worried about Jennifer losing her mother, or are you worried about yourself being implicated and losing the governorship?"

"I'm—of course, I'm thinking about us! After all, Magnus is just an outsider! You carry my name, my blood runs through your veins, Juniper. You are my daughter. How could I possibly just watch you get locked up? Listen to me, come home with Dad. If you have any complaints, tell me, and I will handle them but don't make a scene here. This is a courthouse, not the Beaumonts' home."

Juniper looked into his eyes with her clear gaze, "Dad? Do you even remember that you're supposed to be my father?"
"Child, you must understand, Magnus is far from innocent! Don't fool yourself into believing he truly loves you. he has ulterior motives!"

"Whether he loves me or not is irrelevant. I don't need your warnings. Right now, all I want is to clear my name."

Seeing no other choice, Alexander played his trump card: "I've been reluctant to tell you this, but do you have any idea who Magnus really is? His name isn't Magnus Bo at all, nor is he Joseph's son! His real name is Magnus Lu, to be precise. He's Benjamin Brown's son, and he's on a mission for vengeance against the Beaumonts! His plan from the start was to get close to you with a purpose: to make you fall for him and use you as a pawn in his revenge. I knew his intentions all along, which is why, six years ago, I was so adamant about separating the two of you, even if it meant sending him away to shelter you from harm! Foolish child, he's the son of our enemy, that Benjamin Brown. The poor man passed away from a heart attack and blamed his death on me! Magnus has always been under the impression that I caused his father's demise, and that's why he deliberately got close to you!"

Juniper was incredulous, "Alexander, I can't believe you would stoop to making up stories just to hold onto your position as governor."

"I'm not lying to you! Magnus has never loved you. He's been deceiving you this whole time! Considering you're the daughter of his father's supposed killer, do you really think he could fall for you?"

Juniper's eyes shook slightly in her disbelief.

"His father, Benjamin Brown, was once my business partner, and when he died, the Browns suspected I had a hand in it. Even if I am capable of many things, Juniper, would I really harm my own friend, my good friend?"

Juniper stared back, expressionless, "How should I know? You do seem like someone who'd do such a thing."

"You—stubborn child! Come back home with me, stop all this nonsense. Keep your distance from Magnus. he is our enemy. If you wish, bring Jennifer back to X City as well. You and your daughter have had a rough few years out there. Returning to the Beaumonts, life can be smoother for you both."

Alexander was playing with her emotions.

But Juniper was numb to Alexander's tactics. They were nothing more than a façade of benevolence, a mask covering his true intent to secure his gubernatorial seat.

The man before her, her biological father, had barely provided her with any paternal love over the years. The idea of bringing down her own father was something Juniper wasn't entirely numb to.

However, she was no longer willing to indulge his misdeeds.
"It's too late. Even if I go back with you now, it won't be long before you're suspended and under investigation," Juniper declared with a calm smile.

Alexander was startled. "What have you done?"

"The good deeds you did? I've already informed the media. Perhaps, by now, a big crowd of reporters has already surrounded the Beaumonts' doorstep."

"You're insane! Tell them you made a mistake!"

With fierce determination, Juniper responded, "I won't be making any false statements for you anymore. You can't threaten me now, Alexander. You're on your own."

Without another word to Juniper, Alexander rushed out of the office. If he didn't handle this situation immediately, he feared his position as governor might be in jeopardy.

The media quickly picked up on Alexander's scandal, and it spread rapidly, becoming the top trending topic.

Ophelia, a journalist, was particularly prompt in discovering new information. When she saw the trending news, she immediately called Juniper. After getting no answer, she had no choice but to call Magnus.

"Magnus, did you pressure Juniper into doing something again? She went to the courthouse in X City to expose Alexander and clear your name, but in doing so, she's putting herself at risk!"

"What did you say?"

Magnus, on the other end of the call, was equally shocked. He had never imagined that Juniper would take such bold steps to overturn his case and even expose Alexander's wrongdoings to the press.

Online, the situation had turned into a metaphorical slaughterhouse with a storm of accusations swirling against the Beaumonts. It wasn't long before the media reported that Alexander had been suspended and taken away for investigation.
