Chapter 282 I Really Get Impulsive Around You
From the doorway, Magnus looked guilty, forcing a scared Sophie into something shady.
When she saw Juniper, Sophie's cries got louder. "Mr. Blackwood, let go of me. Juniper, don't get the wrong idea! Nothing happened between us! It's not what you think."
The more she tried to explain, the sketchier it sounded.
Magnus, looking disgusted, flung Sophie's arm away, his brow furrowed, eyes full of hostility. "You're really good at playing the victim, aren't you?"
Sophie's left arm was dislocated, and as she stood up, it hung limply. The pain was so intense she didn't dare show it, afraid it would give her away.
Juniper stood frozen at the door for a few seconds, then calmly and curiously asked Magnus, "Weren't you guys talking business? Why are you fighting?"
Just as Sophie was about to stir up more trouble, Magnus shot her a vicious glare, his eyes like knives slicing into her flesh.
That look seemed to say, 'Keep pushing, and I'll dislocate your other arm too!'
Sophie instinctively swallowed and didn't act out again. It was more important to save her life.
She looked at Ronald with a panicked and innocent expression, pleading, "Ronald, I..."
Despite Sophie's identity being under scrutiny, she stayed with the Abbotts. Magnus's aggression in Christopher's mansion showed his utter disregard for them.
Ronald frowned, naturally displeased. "Mr. Blackwood, isn't this a bit much?"
Magnus brushed off his right shoulder where Sophie had touched, his expression icy, his voice deepening. "It is inappropriate."
Ronald was about to suggest an apology to settle the matter.
Magnus paused, then righteously accused, "She tried to seduce me first, and when she failed, she falsely accused me. Christopher is a man of integrity, and his biological daughter shouldn't be like this."
His words were full of disdain and doubt.
Sophie's face suddenly changed and she was very angry.
Ronald couldn't believe it. "Are you saying Sophie tried to seduce you?"
Sophie desperately argued, "Ronald, I didn't do that, he's lying..."
"Whether I assaulted her or not, a hospital check-up will tell. But my taste isn't that bad, and I wouldn't touch someone of unknown origin." Magnus's tone was indifferent and distant, but every word was like a thorn, making it hard for Sophie to breathe, and she didn't dare to retort.
What kind of man was this?
Magnus, unconcerned, strode over to Juniper.
Curious, Juniper peeked inside and was struck by a sharp pain in her forehead.
Magnus had flicked her forehead, his brow furrowing. "Are you enjoying the show?"
Juniper mumbled softly, "I wasn't watching a show."
She was just curious about what Sophie had done to make Magnus, who never hit women, act out.
Magnus took her hand, ready to leave.
From behind, Ronald asked, "Mr. Blackwood, you didn't drive here. It's late, and it's hard to get a cab nearby. How about I take you to the hotel?"
"No need, Juniper will take me," Magnus replied.
Juniper smiled and intertwined her fingers with his.
As they walked to the car, Ronald came running out.
"Mr. Blackwood, I have some business to discuss with you," Ronald called out.
Magnus paused, already guessing what Ronald wanted to talk about.
He opened the car door and said to Juniper, "Get in the car first, wait for me."
"Okay."
Ronald and Magnus stood in the semi-open corridor, chatting for a bit.
Magnus reminded him, "Sophie's identity is suspicious. Christopher's poisoning might be related to her."
Ronald naturally knew Sophie's identity was suspicious.
But it was still up in the air."If the paternity test report was tampered with by someone she planted in the hospital, what about the birthmark on her back? Could that be fake too?" Ronald was confused.
Magnus's eyes flickered. "There is a birthmark on her back?"
Ronald explained, "Christopher's biological daughter has a light blue oval birthmark on the left side of her back. Sophie has it."
Juniper also had such a light blue birthmark on her back, he had seen it many times.
Magnus was stunned, momentarily flustered.
Until Ronald said, "I'll keep an eye on Sophie. If she's with the Shadow Syndicate, maybe Christopher can still be saved."
Magnus, lost in thought, only said, "About what I mentioned at the racetrack, I'll take it as you agreeing."
He suddenly said something unrelated.
Ronald was also taken aback. "Hey, I didn't agree."
But Magnus ignored him, he had already walked towards the car, not caring at all.
Magnus was really dominant and forceful.
Was this how he ask someone for help?
How did Juniper usually put up with him?
After Magnus got in the car, Juniper started the engine and drove towards the hotel.
She glanced at Magnus in the passenger seat, curious. "Did Sophie really try to seduce you?"
Magnus's face darkened. "Juniper, you don't believe me?"
That question carried weight.
Juniper felt pressured and said seriously, "I believe in your character."
As for Sophie, she hadn't had much interaction with Magnus. Did she really fancy him and try to seduce him?
Sophie didn't seem stupid enough to risk everything to cling to Magnus.
The simple reason of seduction felt odd.
But Magnus had no reason to lie to her.
It couldn't be that Magnus really fancied Sophie and tried to force her.
Seeing Magnus's face still tense, she thought he was angry at her lack of trust.
So she added, "You've never been impulsive. Even if you didn't explain, I wouldn't think you'd do anything to Sophie. But I'm curious, what did she do to make you so angry?"
He naturally wouldn't tell Juniper that he and Sophie were testing each other, which led to that scene.
And Sophie throwing dirt on him was just to protect herself.
The seduction was fake, but the probing was real.
But he didn't want to involve Juniper in anything related to the Shadow Syndicate.
Magnus was silent for a few seconds, pondering her earlier words, then asked, "Am I impulsive?"
Juniper explained, "You've always been rational, handling everything calmly. You're definitely not an impulsive person."
Sitting in the passenger seat, Magnus stared deeply at Juniper's beautiful profile and softly replied, "When it comes to you, I am very impulsive. Juniper, you misunderstand me a lot."
