Chapter 293 You'd Better Just Die
In the Imperial Capital, there was a private residence with a secret underground lair, complete with a water dungeon and various gruesome torture devices.
This was Agency 719's domain, where they interrogated enemy spies and handled confidential cases.
Anyone who entered Agency 719's domain, whether as the interrogator or the interrogated, wielded significant influence.
But Patricia? She had zilch status and still managed to weasel her way in, despite all the crap she pulled.
The black graphite door creaked open.
A flash of white light from outside pierced the darkness.
Magnus strolled in, backlit by the intense light.
Patricia was tied up tight, lying on the damp, grimy floor.
She was barely dressed, and in this freezing, dungeon-like place, her lips had turned purple, and she was on the brink of passing out.
The harsh light made her squint her eyes open.
When she saw who it was, she perked up, "Magnus..."
But then it hit her, and her face went pale.
Magnus wasn't here for a friendly chat; he was here to end her.
Still, she wasn't scared of him. She had secrets he needed. As long as she kept her mouth shut, he could never be with Juniper out in the open.
Paul stood behind Magnus, hands clasped, reporting, "We've been grilling her non-stop, but she keeps denying it. She's one tough cookie."
Magnus's eyes were icy, and he ordered flatly, "Toss her into the water dungeon."
Then they threw Patricia into the water dungeon, the splash echoing through the chamber.
Patricia thrashed around, "It wasn't me! Magnus, you can't do this! If Michael knew you were treating me like this, he'd hate you! If you still care about him..."
After screaming her lungs out all night, her voice was shot, but her mind was sharp.
She knew using Michael was her last shot at survival.
Magnus looked down at her with disdain. "People in the water dungeon don't last more than three days. They don't die from the cold or drowning but from tetanus."
The water dungeon was filthy, with dead rats and cockroaches floating in the black, murky water. Occasionally, live critters would gnaw on human flesh to survive.
Seeing that, Patricia almost puked.
Her face went ghostly white, and she shivered, but she forced a smile, "Magnus, if I die by your hand, how will you explain it to Michael? Isn't he your best bud? Don't you care about him?"
Magnus laughed coldly, "You framed my mom for Juniper's mom's death. The mess Juniper and I are in now is partly because of you. And I don't care about losing a friend. Patricia, I'm not your brother. Talking about feelings with me will only make your death quicker and nastier."
Patricia struggled and screamed, "I didn't kill anyone! What proof do you have to lock me up here? Magnus, this is illegal! Let me out!"
Here, a person's death was no different from a rat's.
Seeing her lack of remorse, Magnus just sat down on a chair, lit a cigarette, and stared at her coldly. "At first, I was gonna let you turn yourself in after you spilled the truth, out of respect for Michael. If you did that, you could at least live decently in prison. But now..."
His voice was icy, and he paused.
Magnus flicked his cigarette, letting some ash fall into the water dungeon.
His eyes turned colder, and he smirked, "Things would be a lot simpler if you were out of the picture."
In the future, he might not be able to stay by Juniper and Jenny's side to protect them.
If Patricia escaped from prison like Alexander once did and came back with bad intentions, Magnus's eyes filled with murderous intent.
Patricia's eyes turned red as she screamed, "Do you think killing me will let you be with Juniper? Magnus, you're no better than I am. You'd do anything to get what we want! You'd rather betray everyone around us than tolerate the slightest betrayal from them! As long as I don't confess, your mother will always be the murderer! And killing me just shows you're guilty, afraid that I'll expose everything! Do you think Juniper's mom's death had nothing to do with your mom? Let me tell you, she also pushed Lyra's wheelchair. She wanted Lyra dead! Magnus, the blood feud between you and Juniper can never be washed away! I hope you two are always at odds! That way, Juniper will be more miserable than me. Having had and then lost is far worse than never having had!"
Patricia laughed hysterically, her laughter echoing in the water dungeon.
Magnus flicked his cigarette, the ash burning out, and tossed the red cigarette butt into the water.
He stood up, his shadow suddenly enveloping Patricia, like a devil rising from hell.
His whole body radiated a murderous aura, and he coldly ordered Paul behind him, "Since she won't confess, cut out her tongue."
Patricia's eyes trembled violently, and she shook uncontrollably, "Magnus, are you trying to scare me? If you cut out my tongue, your mother will always be seen as the murderer, and you'll never clear your name with Juniper!"
"I'm not in the mood to scare you. Paul, do it!"
With a command, Paul nodded slightly to his subordinates, signaling them to act.
Patricia was dragged out of the water dungeon and thrown heavily to the ground.
Her jaw was forcefully pried open, and she was forced to open her mouth.
A subordinate brought a pair of scissors, quickly snapping them a few times, the scissors making a crisp sound.
Patricia was scared out of her wits, struggling with all her might, "No!"
Magnus looked on indifferently, showing no intention of stopping.
Patricia was terrified. She never thought Magnus would have such terrifying means, "Let me go! I'll talk!"
Magnus's voice was indifferent, cold without a trace of emotion, "But I'm no longer interested, nor do I have the patience to waste time with you."
Patricia was so scared she couldn't make a sound.
Just as the scissors touched her lips, Paul's phone rang.
It was Michael.
Paul's brow furrowed. "Mr. Blackwood, it's Mr. Johnson calling. Should I answer?"
