Chapter 127 What If I Don't Plan to Let You Go

His large hand clasped her slender wrists, lifting them high and pressing them against the wall.
The kiss was forceful and domineering.
Their breaths were chaotic.
Until that scorching heat lingered by her ear, and his deep voice fell into her eardrum. "Juniper."
Juniper's desperate struggle froze in an instant.
The surging blood in her body seemed to reverse in a moment, freezing into ice.
She realized that he was Magnus.
She stood there, stunned, her face pale.
Magnus felt the stiffness of the person in his arms. He stopped his actions and slightly loosened his grip on her.
Juniper gasped for breath, her breathing erratic.
She was probably really scared, so she raised her hand to hit the man's right cheek but missed.
The room was dark. The light was dim, and she couldn't see the expression on his lowered face.
It was the first time she had slapped Magnus.
She nervously clenched her palm and swallowed hard, her expression extremely flustered. She instinctively wanted to escape.
But he grabbed her arm."Don't you want your things?"
She almost forgot she came to get her things.
She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down.
After a few seconds, the lights in the room turned on.
Magnus walked up to her, looked down at her, and hoarsely apologized, "Sorry, I scared you just now."
Juniper always swallowed her saliva when she was nervous, and now was no exception.
She opened her lips, barely making a sound.
Her voice trembled slightly. "Did you know it was me when you were on the phone?"
"Yes."
Magnus's dark eyes looked straight at her, admitting it directly.
"So, on the phone, you deliberately didn't speak to make me come over to get my things?"
"Yes."
She clenched her sweat-soaked palm, trying to remain calm on the surface. "Then where are my things?"
"Besides getting your things, don't you have anything else to say to me?"
Her lowered eyelashes trembled slightly. "Say what? Didn't we break up a long time ago?"
They were long over.
Since it was impossible, there was no need to reminisce.
Reminiscing was all for the sake of reconciliation.
But a broken mirror is still a shattered mirror. Even if it's pieced back together, the mottled cracks still exist.
Magnus just looked down at her, his gaze deep and turbulent.
Juniper kept her face down, never looking at him.
He approached her, wanting to reach out and hug her.
She instinctively shrank back, clearly resisting.
The man's laryngeal rolled, suppressing his boiling emotions, and finally asked in a deep voice, "Is your illness better?"
"It's nothing serious anymore. I appreciate your concern, Magnus. I'm here to get my things today. Please give them to me quickly. I'm in a hurry."
Just facing him had already exhausted all her courage.
She felt cold sweat breaking out all over her body.
It was like post-traumatic stress disorder. Even facing him was painful.
Magnus naturally felt her resistant emotions and sighed lightly, seemingly helpless. "Okay, I'll get them."
All her important things were stored in a cardboard box, which were well preserved.
Magnus handed the cardboard box to her.
Juniper hugged the box and turned to leave.
"Aren't you going to check it?"
"It's okay. If something's missing, it's missing. I'm already very satisfied to get these back. Thank you for keeping these things for me. We'll talk about Jennifer another day."
Magnus chuckled lightly.
'Besides Jennifer, was there nothing else to talk about between them?' He thought.
He didn't want to talk about Jennifer with her. There was nothing to talk about.
She was Jennifer's mother. She gave birth to Jennifer and raised her for six years. If Jennifer wanted to live with her mother or she wanted to have custody, he would give it to her.
No matter who had custody, they could visit Jennifer anytime. It was never a problem.
But what if he wanted to use Jennifer to keep her?
"Would you be willing to co-parent Jennifer with me?"
Juniper had her back to him.
Hearing this, she said calmly, "Sure, if she's used to being with you, it's fine for her to stay with you. I'll come to see her when I have time and take her out to play."
Magnus interrupted her, "You know that's not what I mean."
He meant, for Jennifer's sake, to get back together.
Her fingers holding the cardboard box gradually tightened, turning white.
If Lyra hadn't died, if so many things hadn't happened between them, there may still be a chance.
She forced a smile. "I'm willing to be Jennifer's mother, but I don't want to be your wife anymore. Being your wife is too hard. I hope you can understand. Everyone wants to live a little easier, and I'm no exception."
She didn't want to get involved in emotions again, be swayed again, or repeat the same mistakes.
Love is a game for the brave.
She once had the courage, defied Alexander, and was with him recklessly.
But her courage was wrong.
Because of her courage, he went to prison, leading to everything that happened later.
If time could go back, she would never provoke him again.
Maybe then, Lyra wouldn't have died.
Their feelings made too many people pay the price.
Juniper was scared. She would rather to be a coward.
Cowards don't deserve to pursue feelings.
She would rather shrink in her shell and never come out, even if it's not happy. It's better than being scared.
She hugged the cardboard box and took a step to leave.
Magnus stepped forward, blocking the door. "You don't have to be my wife. I don't care who you are. I wonder if you come back to Imperial Capital for me?"
She came back to Imperial Capital to see Jennifer, Ophelia, and Lyra.
She smiled, looked at him, and said word by word, "No. If it weren't for Jennifer, I wouldn't have come back."
Her eyes were red, but she said the cruelest words.
'Just take me as heartless.' She thought.
She wanted to forget everything that happened in Imperial Capital, but the more she wanted to forget, the deeper the memory.
It was so deep that even in nightmares, it wouldn't let her go.
In her dreams, she returned to the courtroom countless times, standing aside like an outsider, watching the eighteen-year-old Juniper testify against him again and again.
She struggled desperately, but no matter how she struggled, she couldn't change the outcome.
She was the first to let go, so let her be the villain from beginning to end. Villains don't need to be kind.
Villains don't need to explain their decisions, nor do they need to be understood.
"Magnus, if you don't move, I'll call the police."
Magnus wasn't someone who could be easily threatened.
He blocked her, not budging an inch. "Aren't you curious why I bought this house?"
Juniper laughed, "You have a lot of money. Buying a house isn't strange."
With that, she hugged the cardboard box and tried to leave from his side.
Magnus grabbed her arm and dragged her into his arms.
The cardboard box in her arms fell, and the contents scattered all over the floor.
"Magnus, let go of me!"
The man's breath approached, kissing her forcefully.
Juniper panicked, struggling desperately, her voice choked with sobs, "We already broke up."
He sneered lightly, "It's just a breakup."
Breaking up meant that they could still get back together.
He pushed her against the wall, his dark eyes locking onto her.
His long hands undid her dress. "Juniper, what if I don't plan to let you go?"
