Chapter 321 Vicious
Agency 719 Medical Base.
Magnus was covered with precision instrument probes checking various body functions.
Odis sat in front of the computer, intently analyzing the data report.
After a long while, Odis sighed with relief, "Luckily, we got the antidote in time, and I still have time to find all the ingredients and formulate it. Hang in there for a couple more days, wait for me!"
Magnus was speechless. After the examination, he tore off the probes, stretched out his arm, and grabbed the shirt hanging on the side to put it on.
After buttoning up, he sat by the hospital bed and suddenly remembered something, frowning, "Did you test the antidote I gave to Sophie?"
He had brought back two antidotes from Avelonia. One was given to Sophie as agreed, and the other was given to Christopher.
Odis was stunned for a moment before replying, "I only tested the antidote for Christopher. You were in such a hurry; I didn't have time to test both. The antidote for Christopher was fine. Why? Are you afraid the other one is fake?"
Magnus's eyes darkened. "I'm afraid it's poison."
"Fuck! If that's the case, then the Shadow Syndicate is truly vicious! If one of them is poison and you or Christopher took it..." Odis's face showed a hint of shock.
Sophie had disappeared in Southern City after receiving the antidote, leaving no trace.
Considering the time, if the antidote she received was poison, the person who took it might already be dead by now.
Avelonia, a helicopter hovered over a base covering more than 10,000 square feet.
Inside the cabin, someone was coldly watching the ruins of the battlefield below.
Alvin angrily said, "Mr. Cole, they destroyed so much of our infrastructure. This base had many expensive instruments and rare equipment, much more valuable than Magnus's SY base!"
In terms of financial and material losses, the Shadow Syndicate suffered more this time.
Glenn snorted coldly, a sinister killing intent flashing in his eyes. "Dare to bomb my base? I'll kill him!"
Alvin asked, "Mr. Cole, do you mean to send someone into Crestoria again and wait for the right moment to act?"
Glenn gritted his teeth, "No need. He got two antidotes, one of which is poison. Let's see whether he or Christopher is luckier. As long as one of them dies, the price we paid will be worth it."
The poison wasn't something Glenn deliberately swapped. If he had known Sophie would betray him and Magnus would launch a sneak attack, he would have replaced all the antidotes with poison.
Unfortunately, Sophie's betrayal came without warning, and he didn't foresee this turn of events.
Putting poison in the antidote box was entirely due to Glenn's usual ruthless style.
He liked to give his opponents hope of survival, only to strike them down heavily afterward. Alternating between good and evil, his heart was deceitful.
Alvin nodded slightly, smiling triumphantly, "Considering the time, Christopher or Magnus must be dead by now. Mr. Cole, you're impressive!"
Glenn's cold lips curled up. "Have the people in Crestoria check how far the funeral arrangements have gone."
Alvin nodded. "Yes, sir."
In a villa in a small southern city, Sophie held Martin in her arms, anxiously calling him, "Martin? Wake up."
Martin, pale-faced, suddenly coughed up blood, staining the light-colored bedspread.
Sophie sensed something was wrong, her face tensed. "How do you feel? Martin, don't scare me..."
Martin, barely holding on, weakly smiled at her, "Sophie, you've been tricked. This isn't an antidote; it's poison."
"What?" Sophie froze, her face instantly turning pale.
Martin grasped her hand, struggling to speak slowly, "Don't worry about me anymore. You've already left the Shadow Syndicate. Haven't you always wanted a free and safe life? After my death, don't seek revenge. You can't take them on alone. Promise me, find a small city in Crestoria to hide, change your name and identity, and never have any contact with these people again."
Sophie held him tightly, her eyes red. "Martin, hold on a bit longer. This antidote was given to me by Magnus. I don't know how many he brought back. If he doesn't give it to me, I'll kill Juniper! Wait for me, Martin."
She was about to get up to make a call when Martin grabbed her wrist and said, "Sophie, this is a secret poison from the Shadow Syndicate. If I hadn't been poisoned before, I might have held on. But after taking two doses of poison, even if you bring the antidote now, it won't work."
Sophie's stubborn tears fell one by one. She held Martin tightly. "Didn't we agree that once you're cured, we'd find a place where the Shadow Syndicate can't reach, get married, have a child, and live a happy life together? Martin, you can't leave."
Martin leaned against her, smiling faintly, "Sophie, I'm sorry. It looks like I can't keep my promise."
Sophie choked, closing her eyes tightly, tears falling on his face. She was sobbing uncontrollably.
Martin gripped her hand tightly, saying each word with difficulty, "Sophie, promise me, don't seek revenge."
Facing the Shadow Syndicate alone would undoubtedly lead to death.
Sophie bit her lip until it turned white, almost drawing blood. She didn't want to agree.
But Martin kept pleading persistently, "This is my only dying wish. Won't you fulfill it for me? Sophie, promise me."
She was silent for a long time before slowly uttering a word, "Okay."
They embraced for a while.
Martin's voice was weak, "Sophie, don't be sad for me..."
As soon as he finished speaking, Martin's hand, which was barely holding her arm, suddenly fell.
Sophie held Martin tightly, immense sorrow and intense anger intertwining. "Martin!!"
Her hands clenched into pale fists. Martin's body grew colder inch by inch in her arms.
Sophie's bloodshot eyes gradually regained calm. Amidst the dead silence, a vast killing intent emerged.
She gently laid Martin down, stayed by the bed, looked at his face, and silently vowed that one day, she would make those who killed him pay with their lives!
Southern City, hospital ward.
After Christopher woke up, his condition gradually improved.
Juniper had been by his bedside day and night for the past few days.
Christopher couldn't bear it, feeling distressed. "Quinn, Jerry is here. You should go home and rest!"
Juniper shook her head slightly, "Dad, I'm not tired."
Christopher looked at her, frowning. "Your dark circles are very obvious. Go home and sleep! Jerry and Ronald are here; you can rest assured!"
Ronald couldn't stand it either, frowning slightly. "Quinn, listen to Dad. You just had a miscarriage, your body..."
Christopher was stunned. "Miscarriage?"
