Chapter 283 Kangaroo Hug
Juniper turned her head and locked eyes with him.
His gaze was intense, like a storm brewing, full of unspoken desire.
She felt the heat from his look, gripped the steering wheel tighter, and tried to focus on the road.
Was this just a spur-of-the-moment thing?
No, this was definitely seduction, making her heart race, while he remained calm, like balancing on a tightrope between control and desire.
Juniper cleared her throat, trying to steer the conversation back. "You still haven't told me, what did Sophie do to you?"
Magnus shrugged it off. "Nothing much, she just patted my shoulder."
"That's it?"
"Yeah."
Juniper was shocked.
And then, he dislocated Sophie's arm?
She remembered how Sophie's left arm had just hung there, useless, like it was completely dislocated.
Juniper found it super weird but couldn't quite put her finger on why.
They had already pulled up to the hotel entrance.
Juniper said, "Mr. Blackwood, we're here."
Magnus sat in the passenger seat, not moving, just giving her a half-smile. "So, should I go in?"
He made a move to open the car door, really about to get out alone.
Juniper grabbed his hand. "You're really leaving?"
He leaned back into the seat, turned to look at her, lips curling with amusement. "Didn't you ask me to leave, Juniper?"
Juniper let go of his hand. "Then go ahead."
This time, Magnus actually got out of the car.
He didn't seem to have any second thoughts.
Juniper thought, 'Ophelia's reasoning, though flawed, isn't entirely off.'
Ophelia always said it was better to dump a guy before he dumped you. After all, men were heartless. Women could never be as controlled in relationships as men.
Relationships were a tug-of-war, with ups and downs.
Juniper felt she was clearly losing ground now, starting to feel reluctant, while Magnus seemed ready to walk away at any moment.
She was about to start the car.
She saw Magnus stride around the front of the car and open the driver's door.
Juniper was stunned for a moment.
Magnus was already teasing with a smile. "So easily flustered, and you want to tease me?"
Juniper just stared at him, falling silent.
Initially, she wanted to joke with him, but it took a different turn.
She instinctively wanted to test him, recently, Magnus's attitude towards her had been too unpredictable.
Juniper pressed her lips together and said, "I just wanted to drive into the underground parking lot."
"And then?" Magnus looked at her casually.
"Then go to the hotel to find you."
Magnus leaned over and unbuckled her seatbelt. "Get out, let the staff park the car."
A valet was standing at the hotel entrance, seeing the car stopped here, immediately walked over.
Magnus took her hand. "Let's go!"
Juniper's face heated up, she reached into the back seat to get a paper bag.
He had asked her to bring a change of clothes.
After handing the car keys to the valet, Magnus put his arm around her, took the paper bag from her hand, and they walked into the hotel together.
At the executive suite door, Magnus swiped the key card and stepped inside. As he inserted the card, Juniper tripped on the thick wool carpet behind him.
He extended his long arm, pulling her into his embrace, looking at her with a soft yet indulgent gaze. "Juniper, isn't this throwing yourself at me a bit too obvious?"
"I didn't mean to," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
He looked at her lips, his eyes darkening with desire. "So, it was on purpose?"
Juniper's breathing quickened. She was trapped between his chest and the wall, her eyes drifting from his to his lips, finally settling on his Adam's apple. Her vision grew hazy.
Taking a deep breath, she said, "Didn't you bring me here just to make me throw myself at you?"
Magnus closed the door, a mischievous smile playing in his eyes. "Well, you're right. So, do you want to be a bit more proactive?"
His voice was deep and husky, almost hypnotic in her ear. Just as she was about to respond, he leaned in and kissed her. The kiss was sudden and commanding.
Juniper's mind went blank for a moment, and when she came to, her heart was racing.
As she raised her hand to wrap around his neck, Magnus's large hand supported her waist and hips, lifting her up. Juniper's feet left the ground, and she was pinned against the foyer wall in a kangaroo hold. The kiss was intense and deep.
Juniper's back pressed against the switch, and the overhead light flicked off. The suite was dimly lit. Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, Southern City was alive with neon lights and a bustling nightlife. The faint light filtered in, Juniper holding his neck with one hand, the other touching his face, her breath chaotic, yet she didn't forget to remind him, "Close the curtains."
Magnus chuckled. "The floor-to-ceiling glass in this hotel, people can't see inside from outside."
The hotel had done a good job with privacy.
Juniper was half-convinced, her misty eyes widening slightly. "Really?"
Magnus responded lightly, "Do you want to test it?"
"Test what?" Juniper was still in a daze, her clothes already stripped clean. Her heart skipped a beat. "Magnus, you..."
Magnus bit her, ignoring her scream, and carried her to the floor-to-ceiling window. Juniper's face was flushed, her heart pounding like a drum.
Compared to Juniper's nervousness, Magnus was very composed, tormenting her slowly for a long time. Finally, he carried her to the big bed.
At Juniper's insistence, the electric curtains slowly closed, blocking the night view of Southern City outside the floor-to-ceiling window. But once the curtains were closed, Magnus became even more unrestrained.
He stared at the light blue birthmark on her slender back, his gaze deep and unreadable. If Juniper was really Christopher's biological daughter, she couldn't stay here. The Shadow Syndicate targeting Juniper, wanting her dead, suddenly made sense.
Thinking he must send her to Solara soon, Magnus tightened his grip on her hand, pressing it against the bed. Juniper felt a bit of pain and struggled slightly. Magnus pulled her into his arms, holding her tighter.
He kissed her ear, his voice hoarse. "Stay with me tonight, okay?"
Juniper had some concerns. "Jenny is still at the Abbotts."
"With Ronald there, nothing will happen."
Juniper laughed. "Since when do you trust Ronald so much?"
Magnus's brows furrowed, his tone harsher. "Ronald?"
Juniper was puzzled.
"In my bed, you are calling Ronald?" he asked.
Juniper immediately shut her mouth.
Magnus clearly teased her, pressing her. "Juniper, what do you call me?"
