Chapter 364 Mr. Blackwood Would Also Spend New Year's Eve with His Wife

That night, Magnus shared many things from the past that Juniper didn't know.

Those memories struck Juniper's heart, causing intense pain.

She leaned against him and took a long time to calm down before falling asleep.

The wind was cold outside the window.

Inside, two bodies embraced each other as they slept.

Early the next morning, Magnus and Paul left Skyville.

They returned to the Imperial Capital.

At the hospital, the caregiver handed the broken necklace to Magnus.

Magnus took a careful look at it, then put it away and instructed, "Don't mention the necklace to anyone."

The caregiver didn't understand but didn't dare offend these important people, nodding, "Mr. Blackwood, rest assured, I won't say a word."

Magnus nodded slightly, "Thank you for taking care of my mother during this time."

Magnus entered the ward.

Ava had a broken leg in a cast, lying in bed. Despite her limited mobility, she wasn't exactly well-behaved.

Seeing Magnus, her dull eyes immediately brightened, "Magnus, you're here!"

Magnus sat on the chair by the bed, looking at her leg in a cast, frowning with concern, "Mom, why are you always so restless? If you keep this up, Dad won't come to see you."

Ava pursed her lips at his words, tears welling up in her eyes.

She felt wronged. "Benjamin doesn't come to see me, you barely come to see me, and now you're scolding me!"

Magnus's tone was always cold and not very gentle.

Ava's mental state was poor; she often spoke nonsense, and due to a lack of care, she became increasingly childlike.

The caregiver said, "Mr. Blackwood, your mother is very lonely usually, you should talk to her more."

Magnus slowed his speech slightly, speaking gently, "I'm not scolding you, but you never obey. Does your broken leg hurt?"

Ava nodded vigorously, "Yeah, it hurts."

"Will you do it again next time?"

"I don't know, Magnus, can you take me home? You and your father don't come to see me, I'm so lonely here."

Magnus had concerns, "If you come home with me, I don't have time to take care of you, and there isn't a medical team on call like in the nursing home."

"I don't need doctors, I'm not sick! My mind is clear!"

Magnus looked at her, deep in thought.

He instructed the caregiver to leave.

At this moment, only Ava and Magnus were in the ward.

Magnus said, "Mom, it's not impossible to take you home. But you have to answer a few questions."

Ava was displeased, "Do I have to answer questions to go home? Can I not answer? If Benjamin were here, it would be great. Benjamin loves me, not like you. Go get Benjamin for me! I want to go home with Benjamin!"

Ava tugged at Magnus's sleeve, acting like a child.

Magnus let her tug at his sleeve, but remained unmoved, "You can't go home without answering the questions."

Ava had no choice, letting go of his sleeve, compromising, "Then ask, but not too hard, I can't answer if it's too hard."

Magnus took out the necklace in a transparent sealed bag, showing it to her.

He stared at Ava's face, asking, "Where did you get this necklace?"

Ava became flustered and panicked at the sight of the necklace.

Her face showed fear, and she reached out to grab it, "Give it to me!"

But lying in bed, she couldn't reach what Magnus held.

Unable to grab it, she trembled violently, her face filled with panic.

She held her head, falling into fear, "You were the ones who harmed Benjamin first! What did I do wrong? Blame yourselves for doing wrong, I didn't kill that child, I didn't kill that child!"

Magnus's heart skipped a beat, grabbing Ava's shoulders, asking, "Is it Lyra's child? Where is that child?"

Ava's eyes were filled with tears, she buried her head in her arms, not daring to look at Magnus.

"Don't ask me, I don't know, I really don't know!"

"What about Christopher? Do you have any connections with the Abbotts from Southern City? Did you take Christopher's daughter?"

Ava shook her head frantically, "Stop asking, I don't know these people, really don't know."

Magnus asked again, heartlessly, "Christopher, the Abbotts, you really don't know?"

"I don't understand what you're saying! I don't know anyone named Abbotts, stop asking! My head hurts!"

From Ava's expression, it didn't seem like she was lying.

Magnus breathed a slight sigh of relief.

As long as it wasn't Ava who took Quinn back then, everything would be fine.

But she said she didn't kill that child, was that child Lyra's real daughter?

Magnus's urgent questioning had agitated Ava.

Ava no longer wanted to see him, turning her back to him, angrily saying, "Go away, go! I never want to see you again! Only Benjamin loves me and treats me well! If Benjamin were here, he would definitely kick your ass!"

Magnus stood there.

Ava picked up a ceramic cup and threw it at him, "I don't want to go home with you! Your home is not my home! I want to go back to The Brown Villa! The Brown Villa is my and Benjamin's home."

As she spoke, Ava cried uncontrollably.

Gradually, her eyes became vacant, "But there isn't Benjamin in The Brown Villa either... Benjamin, where did you go? I miss you so much."

The ceramic cup shattered on the ground.

Magnus didn't know how to comfort her.

The caregiver heard the sound of the cup breaking and knocked on the door, "Mr. Blackwood, do you need help?"

Magnus turned and left the ward, instructing the caregiver, "If my mother says anything strange again, tell me every word."

"Yes, Mr. Blackwood."

The caregiver looked at Ava curled up in bed, crying silently, and sighed, "She's thinking about your father again."

A trace of reluctance and softness flashed in Magnus's eyes, "Take good care of her, contact me if anything happens."

"Okay."

Magnus left the hospital and got into the car.

He leaned back in the rear seat, thinking for a long time before saying, "Look into the doctors and nurses who helped Lyra deliver back then."

Paul, sitting in the driver's seat, turned his head and asked, "Something from over twenty years ago?"

"Something from twenty-five years ago."

Paul pondered, "Twenty-five years ago, most hospitals didn't even have computerized records, and finding medical records and files might be difficult. Back then, hospital surveillance wasn't comprehensive either. Mr. Blackwood, are you trying to investigate how Ms. Beaumont ended up being mistaken for Lyra's daughter?"

Magnus thought for a moment and gave another lead, "Lyra was supposed to have given birth at Evergreen Hospital. Find the list of all doctors and nurses working in the obstetrics department on the night of June 6, 1998, and investigate them one by one. We'll find clues."

"Got it."

Paul remembered something else, "Mr. Blackwood, can I take a day off the day after tomorrow?"

"For what?"

Paul smiled sheepishly, "Amanda is insisting I spend New Year's Eve with her. She said she has the whole day planned and is just waiting for me to take the day off."

Magnus approved, "Alright, but you need to find me a reliable driver. I need to go to Skyville that day."

Paul asked curiously, "Mr. Blackwood, are you spending New Year's Eve with your wife too?"
