Chapter 353 Juniper, I'm here

Magnus jolted awake, grabbing the phone and sitting up, shouting, "Juniper?"

He called her name a few more times, but there was no answer.

Throwing off the covers, he was about to get out of bed when he heard faint, muffled sobs from the phone.

Sitting on the edge of the bed, now mostly awake, he pinched the bridge of his nose and asked, "Juniper, what's wrong? Why are you crying?"

On the other end, Juniper, still shaken, wiped her tears, but her voice was still choked with sobs.

Curled up with her phone, her voice came out hoarse, "I had a nightmare."

"What kind of nightmare?"

Juniper was silent for a moment before slowly saying, "I dreamed I had a miscarriage in Solara, couldn't find my passport, and was trapped in that house, unable to find an exit. For some reason, Jenny and Selina were gone. I was the only one inside, running to every door, but they were all locked tight, and the windows were sealed shut. I tried to break the windows to get out, but suddenly... suddenly, there were so many blood-covered babies outside, and their cries were so loud..."

Then, she woke up in fright.

Magnus's tense emotions relaxed a bit; he had initially thought something urgent had happened to Juniper.

But just as he breathed a sigh of relief, a sudden pang hit his chest, a dull pain.

Although the nightmare sounded bizarre and strange, it wasn't entirely detached from reality.

She had just had a miscarriage less than a month ago.

The psychological trauma might be even greater than the physical one.

Maybe she hadn't even realized it herself, but the subconscious trauma was even more deadly.

"Magnus, I can't sleep now. I'm so scared. My phone is about to die."

As she spoke, her voice grew increasingly choked with sobs, pounding heavily on his heart.

Magnus soothed her in a deep voice, "Turn on the light first."

Juniper responded and obediently turned on the light.

With the light on, the nightmare dissipated.

Juniper leaned against the headboard, clutching the blanket, her forehead cold with sweat.

Magnus, still worried, said, "Charge your phone and keep the line open."

He glanced at the time.

It was now 3:30 AM.

Skyville was also a northern city, not far from the Imperial Capital. If he drove fast, it would take just over an hour.

Juniper crawled to the foot of the bed, reached for the charging cable on the table, then quickly crawled back to the head of the bed and got under the covers.

The phone was now charging.

She was drenched in sweat, sticky and cold.

Magnus got up from the bed, took his phone, and went into the walk-in closet.

After changing out of his pajamas, he put on the glasses Juniper had picked for him, grabbed his car keys, and left.

Meanwhile, Juniper, shivering in the hotel, thought about going next door to find Karen.

But out of pride, she clutched the blanket and buried her head in it, calling out, "Magnus."

"Juniper, I'm here." The response was almost immediate.

His deep, steady voice came through the phone, giving her a sense of security.

Juniper just wanted to hear his voice, to confirm someone was there with her.

Hearing his voice, she let out a small sigh of relief.

After this commotion, she couldn't fall back asleep.

Juniper asked, "Are you tired?"

"Not tired."

Juniper brought up a topic, aimlessly, just wanting him to talk more, "Magnus, what are you doing?"

Magnus replied, "Driving."

Before Juniper could react, she heard a mechanical navigation voice from the phone—

"In 1640 feet, turn left."
