Chapter 404 Your Leg is Healed? (1)

Juniper actually responded.

Magnus held his phone, a playful glint in his eyes. "Then I'll really do."

This Clio was like a sticky piece of gum; it seemed impossible to shake her off without teaching her a lesson.

Juniper was speechless.

She was just a bit worried and reminded him, "Watch what you say, don't go too far."

Magnus frowned slightly, asking seriously, "Did she save your life?"

Juniper's mouth twitched, "No, we just had some history."

History?

Magnus put down his phone, not in the mood to deal with Clio anymore. He pulled Juniper into his arms, looking serious. "Juniper, how many emotional entanglements do you have out there?"

Wasn't he enough?

There were already a bunch of people like Ophelia, Karen, Sinclair, William, Ronald... and now another Clio popped up.

Juniper found it amusing and said with a headache, "I don't have any. The only one I'm entangled with is you. I'm not a lesbian. Why do you always say such nonsense like Ophelia? You're the best match for me, okay?"

That was more like it.

"Then what's the deal with this Clio?"

Juniper stood by the sink, trimming the stems of roses and arranging them in a vase, replying, "She was my roommate in freshman year. There were four girls in our dorm. One of them came from a well-off family and had more pocket money and living expenses. If I remember correctly, her name was Mia Wilson. Back then, Lolita fashion was popular. Do you know what Lolita is?"

Magnus naturally didn't know.

Juniper explained, "Lolita is a sweet, vintage, court-style fashion. Nowadays, you can see many young girls wearing it. An authentic Lolita outfit can range from a few hundred to several thousand dollars. Mia spent a lot of money on a set, but it went missing after a few days."

Magnus had a vague idea, "She thought you stole it?"

Juniper nodded, "Her outfit was quite famous in the Lolita community. If sold second-hand, it could fetch a good price. Mia thought I stole it to sell and make some money. I didn't take it, so I didn't admit it. They teamed up to search my closet. Clio helped me out then. Mia and another roommate, Scarlett Lewis, isolated me for a long time. Clio naturally became the one I often ate with."

Magnus asked, "What happened to the outfit?"

"It wasn't in my closet; it was in Scarlett's. But Scarlett insisted she didn't take it and that I was framing her. The matter was left unresolved. Mia also thought I framed Scarlett because they were close."

Magnus found it odd, "How was your relationship with Clio before this incident?"

Juniper shook her head, "I'm slow to warm up to people. Plus, I was already dating you then, spending weekends with you, so I didn't have much time to bond with my roommates. Mia and Scarlett liked forming cliques, which I wasn't into. Clio was quiet and reserved, so I wasn't close to any of them before this."

Magnus analyzed, "Have you considered that Clio might have taken the outfit?"

Juniper had her suspicions but felt the motive was lacking, "But why would she do that?"

"Who benefits the most is the most suspicious. Scarlett wouldn't call out if she was the thief. Mia cherished that outfit and wouldn't hide it in someone else's closet. If she wanted to frame someone, it would be you. With only four people in the dorm, excluding Mia, Scarlett, and you, Clio is the only one left with a motive."

Juniper said, "I actually believed Mia misplaced it because our closets were together, and sometimes things got mixed up. But if it was Clio, what did she gain?"

Magnus looked at her, smiling faintly, "After that incident, she got closer to you. Eating together was her goal."

"Would eating with me give her a sense of accomplishment? I'm not Warren Buffett. Oh, she liked you and wanted to meet you through me."

Magnus thought otherwise, "You were the campus queen. Walking with you easily attracted attention. Some people like being in the spotlight to satisfy and inflate their insecure yet arrogant egos."

Juniper was slightly stunned.

Human nature was complex, neither good nor bad, but Magnus made a lot of sense.

Magnus's phone screen was on the WhatsApp chat page.

Clio's message came in: [Magnus, I'm now a director at a TV station. I have a celebrity interview show, and I'd like to invite you as a guest. Would you be interested?]

Both Magnus and Juniper saw the message.

Magnus hugged Juniper's waist, looking down at her with a teasing smile, "How about I bring Mrs. Blackwood on the show and make it public?"

Juniper raised an eyebrow, finding it interesting.

Clio couldn't come to their home, so she used work as an excuse to invite Magnus out for a private chat.

She had to admit, Clio was persistent.

At least her perseverance was something many decent people couldn't achieve.

Before Magnus could reply, another message popped up.

[Magnus, can you not tell Juniper about me inviting you for the interview?]

[She's a housewife and might overthink, feeling I'm using work to hit on you. It would be bad if she misunderstood. I don't want to make Juniper sad. After all, without you, she has nothing.]

[But I really envy Juniper. She has such a great fiancé like you. Successful men usually have high standards for their partners. Even after Juniper made such a big mistake, you forgave her... Juniper is really lucky to marry you. Unlike me, who only has work and no boyfriend.]

These words were typical hypocritical statements.

Ordinary and confident men might fall for such insincere remarks, feeling their partner at home truly didn't deserve them.

But Magnus was clearly not affected.

He handed the phone to Juniper, "Do you want to handle this, or should I?"

Juniper took his phone this time, "I'll handle it."

She remembered Patricia's fate and silently prayed for Clio.

She hoped Clio would be sensible and stop causing trouble. Otherwise, even if she considered their past, Magnus would lose patience.

Juniper took Magnus's phone, sat by the sofa, and pretended to be Magnus, replying to Clio.

[Is this how you usually invite guests?]

As soon as "Magnus" replied, Clio got more excited. [Of course not. I'm only inviting you this way because we're familiar. I don't do this with other guests.]

After that, Clio sent a selfie.

She commented: [I put on too much foundation today, looks a bit unnatural. Do you guys not like heavy makeup? Do you prefer the no-makeup look?]

Juniper instinctively replied: [No, both heavy and light makeup have their own charm.]

Clio sent a happy and cute emoji: [I thought you really hated me.]

Juniper replied honestly. [I do hate you.]

Clio immediately sent a crying emoji.

Juniper: [Stop crying, wipe your tears, and go find another man. Eating from someone else's bowl will give you indigestion.]

Clio: [Magnus, will you let me try? Only then will I know if I can digest it.]

Juniper: [I'm not tasty.]

Magnus, who was watching the show, felt more and more disgusted.

He snatched the phone from Juniper's hand, laughing angrily, "Juniper, are you trying to get me into trouble?"
