Chapter 365 Agreed to Marry Me?

In the back seat, Magnus's slender fingers subconsciously twisted the platinum ring on his ring finger.

With a hint of a light, indulgent smile in his voice, he said, "I promised her, and I don't want to break my word."

Paul said, "By the way, Selina sent back that pink diamond. I left it on your desk in case you need it for New Year's Eve."

"I won't need it."

Paul had thought that with this setup, Magnus was planning to propose on New Year's Eve. So, he hadn't won her over yet?

In Skyville.

Juniper looked through the information on StellarWorks Inc., and her gaze falling on the actual controlling shareholder.

The real shareholder behind StellarWorks Inc. wasn't an individual but a company called Streamline Media.

StellarWorks Inc. wasn't publicly traded, and Streamline Media owned more than ninety percent of its shares.

Streamline Media... that name sounded very familiar.

She thought for a moment.

Could it be the same Streamline Media that had just bought ten percent of Michael's shares and made an appearance in the SY stock market?

Juniper checked the current shareholders of SY, and the information indeed showed a company called Streamline Media holding ten percent of the shares.

She clicked on the company profile and saw that it was the same company, not just a similar name.

She felt a bit uneasy.

She made a call to Magnus.

On the other end, Magnus had just come out of the shower. When he saw the caller ID, the corners of his lips lifted slightly.

He answered the call and spoke first, "Why calling me so late, did you miss me?"

Juniper then realized it was almost midnight.

She pressed her lips together, "No..."

Just as she was about to get to the point, Magnus interrupted her, "If you didn't miss me, I'll just hang up."

"Wait," Juniper stopped him, "Magnus, I really have something important to tell you."

Magnus, holding the phone, sat on the edge of the bed and raised an eyebrow, "Are you agreeing to marry me?"

Juniper laughed, "It's about work."

Magnus frowned slightly. "Working this late?"

Juniper was indifferent. "Don't you often work until one or two in the morning?"

He had just finished his shower, feeling relaxed, and his voice was a bit lazy and casual, "That was before. When I was bored, all I could do was work."

Juniper, listening to the call, unconsciously twirled a pen with her fingers, "So what do you do now if not work? Retire?"

At Magnus's age, early retirement seemed unlikely.

But in just a few short years, he had amassed the kind of capital that others couldn't achieve in a lifetime. Retirement wasn't out of the question.

Magnus succinctly replied with one word, "You."

Juniper took a few seconds to react, her face instantly turning red.

Jerk!

But she didn't curse him out. Clearing her throat, she changed the subject, "Let's get to the point."

His voice was tired and low, "Alright, I'm listening."

Juniper's gaze fell on the information.

"I found out that Windsor Group's competitor, StellarWorks Inc., is controlled by a company called Streamline Media. StellarWorks Inc. has bribed insiders in our building materials factory and is causing trouble with the old employees. Streamline Media also just bought Michael's shares. These two events together don't seem like a coincidence. Have you investigated Streamline Media?"

Magnus chuckled, "Juniper, are you calling me this late to get information from me?"

Juniper corrected him, "I want you to be aware, in case Streamline Media has bad intentions."

"Are you concerned about me?"

Was that the point?

Juniper straightened up and called him seriously, "Magnus."

Magnus stopped joking and said in a deep voice, "This company called Streamline Media is likely targeting SY and Windsor Group. It's not clear what they're planning yet. They operate quite secretly and haven't shown their hand."

Juniper worriedly said, "If they're targeting SY and Windsor Group, could it be related to the Shadow Syndicate?"

"That's very likely. A company that appears small but has such strong financial backing must be supported by some kind of power."

After Magnus finished speaking, Juniper was silent for a long time, lost in thought.

Magnus reassured her, "Don't overthink it. Even if the sky falls, there's someone taller to hold it up. After all, this is Crestoria's territory. No matter how powerful the Shadow Syndicate is, they wouldn't be so blatant."

"But they openly bombed SY's building last time. Magnus, if there's danger again, I won't allow you to act recklessly."

Juniper's tone wasn't heavy, but it was very serious.

Magnus was momentarily stunned and said, "If I do that again, you can dock all my pay."

Juniper said, "I'm not joking."

"Neither am I," he paused, then added, "When it comes to you, I'm always serious."

Juniper's lips curved into a smile as she glanced at the time, "It's late. I need to shower and go to bed."

"Done with business and now you don't need me?"

Juniper touched her neck, "What else is there to say?"

Magnus asked her to turn on the video.

Juniper was slightly stunned.

She heard his voice, now a bit hoarse, "Let me see you."

Was it just to see her face or something else?

The video call came through.

Juniper's face heated up as she accepted the call.

Magnus really did look at her for quite a while.

Perhaps his gaze was too intense, and Juniper felt a bit embarrassed. "You've seen enough. I'm going to take a shower now."

"Take the phone to the bathroom."

Juniper's ears burned, and this time she cursed, "Pervert!"

The video was cut off.

He was momentarily stunned, looking at the phone, his eyes full of playful amusement.

What he meant was to continue the voice call in the bathroom.

Who was the pervert now?

In the next morning.

Magnus made a call, "Is the diamond I sent last time ready?"

"Mr. Blackwood, let me check for you."

After a while, the other side respectfully said, "The designer said it will be ready this afternoon. Will you come to pick it up yourself, or should we send it to your home?"

"I'll pick it up this afternoon."

"Alright, Mr. Blackwood."

This diamond ring was the third ring he was giving her.

It didn't have any special meaning; he just thought that for a formal proposal, using a ring that had already been seen wouldn't be much of a surprise.

The diamond for this ring was something he had bought at an auction.

However, he wasn't there in person at the time; he had a specialist bid for it over the phone.

Then it was sent for cutting, polishing, and designing, which took a little over half a month.

In the afternoon, Magnus picked up the diamond ring and returned to the company.

Robert was waiting in his office, his gaze falling on the black velvet box in Magnus's hand, "Hey, what did you get?"

Magnus was straightforward, "A diamond ring."

Robert raised an eyebrow, as if hearing big news, "Is this for a proposal?"

"Yeah, why, jealous?"

Robert, with his legs crossed, lounged casually on the leather sofa, "Okay, very funny. Your kid can already walk, and now you're proposing? What a strange order."

Magnus retorted calmly, "Even so, I'm better than you. You've been married for almost three years, and does Ophelia want to have kids with you?"

Robert's face showed a hint of discomfort but quickly masked it, "I don't want kids. Are kids fun with all their noise? Just look at your Jenny, her little mouth never stops. When she gets going, it's endless. Only you can tolerate that."

He sounded quite jealous.

Magnus replied, "Well, you don't have any, so you get peace and quiet. Why are you here?"

Robert rubbed his nose, looking a bit unnatural, "So, if a woman starts returning your cards and stops spending your money, does that mean she wants a divorce?"

Magnus seemed to find this amusing, raising an eyebrow, "Ophelia doesn't even want to spend your money? Whose money is she spending then? Thomas's?"

Robert was choked by this, his face darkening, "She just returned the secondary card to me and won't let me invest in the Perez Group anymore."

Magnus's eyes held a hint of mockery, "That's a first. But isn't she saving you money by letting you stop investing in the Perez Group? Why are you mad?"

The Perez Group was a failing company, and Patrick was not cut out to run a business.

The money Robert invested was like throwing it into a black hole, with a fifty percent return rate being optimistic, and usually, there was no return at all.

It was hard to see what he was getting out of it.

Because of this investment, Robert had been called in for talks by Samuel more than once.

Robert scoffed, "Who's mad? The Perez Group should just go bankrupt sooner, let Patrick cry about it."

"Then what's your problem? Afraid Ophelia, without any concerns, will be more determined to divorce you?"

Robert frowned, deeply puzzled, "Why does she lock herself in the study right after work and lock the door? What's she doing in there secretly?"

Magnus was momentarily stunned and casually said, "Probably video chatting with Thomas."

Unexpectedly, Robert took this seriously.

"Damn it! I've tolerated her several times. Isn't this too unethical?"

And too disrespectful to him?

Magnus reminded him, "She's already asked for a divorce. She doesn't want to be with you anymore. You know this and still drag it out. You can't blame her for seeking true love."

Robert's eyebrows shot up, "So it's my fault as her legal husband?"

Magnus deliberately provoked him, "She and Thomas were holding hands in high school, promising to be together forever. In terms of love, you are indeed the third wheel."

"Fuck! High school romance lasting a lifetime? That's not pure; it's stupid!"

He had dated in high school too, just for fun, never seriously.

Magnus chuckled, hinting, "She has always worked hard for Thomas. You can't compete with the first love. Let go, and it'll be better for you, her, and Thomas."

Robert's eyes turned cold, and he snorted, "Worked hard for what? Can she still trust a former boyfriend who suddenly disappeared from her life for years?"

"So what if he disappeared for years? First love is always first love. As soon as he comes back, he can capture all of Ophelia's attention. You can't beat that."

Robert was grinding his teeth.

The phone rang.

It was from The Brown Villa. "Robert, your grandfather is asking again if Ophelia is pregnant. He said if you two don't start acting right and keep causing trouble, he'll have you divorce and come back home."
