Chapter 350 Friends Falling Out

Juniper's phone rang as soon as she and Karen landed in Skyville.

It was Ophelia calling, bombarding her with questions, "SY finally explained Magnus and Mary's relationship. Juniper, what's going on between you and Magnus now? And what's with that engagement news? I didn't dare ask before!"

For a moment, Juniper didn't know where to start. "It's a long story. How about I talk to you later? I just arrived in Skyville."

Ophelia couldn't keep up. "Skyville? What are you doing in Skyville?"

"Business trip. I started working at Windsor Group. The car's here, I'll talk to you later when I get to the hotel."

After hanging up the phone, Juniper got into the car and curiously checked social media.

SY had indeed issued a clarification statement.

The statement mentioned that SY had a strong legal team and sternly warned the rumor-mongers and online trolls.

The top comments were all in shock.

[No way, Mr. Blackwood can't really be a love-struck fool, sticking with Harper again?]

[Does this statement mean Mr. Blackwood has only ever dated Harper?]

[Then what's up with Ms. Abbott?]

[Do Ms. Abbott and Harper look alike? A doppelgänger game?]

[This is getting more interesting!]

[Don't tell me Ms. Abbott and Harper are the same person, that's so dramatic and exciting!]

[What, how can such a rich, powerful, and handsome man have only dated one woman? What kind of fantasy story is this? Even a blatant lie wouldn't go this far!]

[I'm not buying it! Why is Harper so lucky!]

[If Mr. Blackwood goes back with Harper, this is hard to judge. I wish him luck, SY's stock price is going to plummet!]

Juniper looked at the statement, feeling both happy and worried.

She was happy that Magnus spoke up for her.

But she wasn't sure if exposing their private relationship like this would have a negative impact on him and SY.

Karen was also browsing information, but she was looking at finance and stock market news. "Michael actually cashed out a billion dollars and left SY. Is this a graceful exit or a fallout between brothers?"

Juniper's eyelid twitched, slightly stunned.

Karen saw her expression and guessed she didn't know. "Mr. Blackwood didn't tell you? Although the information was only disclosed today, the sale transaction happened a while ago. The new shareholder just made a move, but it's an unfamiliar face, never heard of or seen before."

Michael was an important shareholder of SY, and his sudden cash-out without any warning would definitely have a negative impact on SY.

Juniper was vaguely worried.

Michael's departure seemed sudden to the outside world, but Magnus must have known about it early on.

Yet Magnus hadn't mentioned a word about Michael.

From what Juniper knew about Magnus, the more he cared about someone or something, the more secretive he was, unwilling to talk about it.

Conflicts he could openly discuss were not a big deal.

The possibility of Michael making a graceful exit was very small.

The possibility of a fallout between friends was much higher.

But the reason was unknown.

In Imperial Capital, at the Night Harbor Bar.

When Magnus and Paul arrived, Robert and Michael were fighting.

Both of them were injured, with bruised and bleeding lips.

A crowd of onlookers had gathered around.

Magnus, with a stern face, grabbed a bottle by the neck and smashed it hard on the bar counter.

A loud shattering sound exploded.

Magnus coldly scolded, "What do you think you're doing fighting here? If you want to fight, go to a boxing gym!"

Robert and Michael finally stopped.

This was Robert's turf.

With more onlookers now, Robert pressed his cheek hard, gritting his teeth, "Can't you see we're handling family matters here? Everyone out! We're closed for the night!"

The customers in the bar settled their bills and left one after another.

Soon, the noisy bar gradually quieted down.

Magnus sat in a booth.

Robert sat by the stage.

And Michael sat on the steps.

The three of them were far apart, silent for a long time without speaking.

Magnus sneered, "Now that the customers are gone and the place is cleared for you, why don't keep fighting!"

Robert pointed at Michael, angrily standing up, "Michael, you're usually the most honest, but you're the most damn untrustworthy now! This is betrayal! We've been classmates for so many years, and you betray your friends like this?"

Michael clenched his fists, head down, not saying a word.

In the dim light, his facial expression was unclear.

Robert, unable to hold back his temper, took big strides forward to fight again.

Magnus stopped him.

Michael picked up his coat from the floor, dusted it off, and said expressionlessly, "Had enough? If so, I'm leaving."

"Do you even hear yourself?" Robert was about to charge again.

Magnus held him back, glancing sideways at Michael, "Michael, wait for me outside. I have something to say to you."

Michael just nodded, not saying much.

Robert gritted his teeth, "Michael, if you step out of this door today, you're offending everyone! Mixing family matters with friendships, emotional people don't end well!"

Hearing this, Michael, who was about to leave the bar, suddenly stopped.

He suddenly laughed, his eyes bloodshot, glaring at Robert, "Yeah, I'm emotional! Robert, if it were your sister who died tragically, I wonder what you'd think now! Don't you dare judge me!"

Robert's neck veins bulged, roaring, "Even if I were stupid, I wouldn't betray my friends! My sister? If Patricia were my sister and caused so much trouble, I would have punished her long ago! This is all her own doing!"

Hearing this, Michael threw his coat on the ground in anger, laughing bitterly.

He stood there, staring at Magnus and Robert, and said word by word, "Friends? Since we're talking about this, let's make it clear tonight! You and Magnus are friends! But I have never been your friend!"

As soon as he said this.

Magnus visibly stiffened.

Many words, once spoken, could never be taken back.

Even if they were said in anger.

But weren't angry words often the truest thoughts from the heart?

Robert grabbed a bottle and threw it at him.

The bottle shattered.

The liquid inside splashed all over Michael.

He wiped it off, sneering, "What kind of friend am I to you? Patricia was my sister. If Magnus had considered our friendship even a little, he wouldn't have informed me after the fact, letting my sister die so horribly!"

"Yes, Patricia deserved it! She could have died at anyone's hands! But why did it have to be Magnus?"

After saying this, Michael picked up his coat from the ground and walked out of the bar.

The cold wind of the snowy night in Imperial Capital was biting.

He was dressed lightly but didn't feel the cold at all.

Outside Night Harbor Bar was the glamorous river view.

Michael leaned against the railing by the river, took out a lighter engraved with "Johnson," lit a cigarette, and took deep drags, trying to calm his turbulent emotions.

He seemed to be smoking too fast and coughed violently several times.

Magnus walked out slowly, stood beside him, looked at the shimmering river night scene in the distance, and suddenly said, "After all these years, you still don't know how to smoke."
