Instead of planning for an Alpha meeting 2 days away, I was in my office with Shelly, and her daughter Michelle, who was currently bullying my son. She took his new Optimus Primary, and he let her, but I would not interfere. They were still young, better to establish their little hierarchy now than when they shift, and shit gets serious. Me and my sister watched. Michelle was a little taller than Caleb, but we couldn’t tell how strong he was, because he never fought. Jason was asleep, because he managed to sneak downstairs and watch Puppy Police until about 3 in the morning. Jerold had brought Mini, who was too timid to do anything, but she hopped down, and stood next to my daughter, who had an evil twinkle in her eye.
Isabelle looked angry, her eyes were red, but she was so small… she was only 3 feet, the others were all about a foot taller. Mini was just as small and quietly watched. They visited regularly as they could to let her have someone her age to play with. She needed the enrichment, and we already agreed to allow any orphans to come to school here or be raised here, and choose the pack if they wished when they came of age.
“Give it back.” Mini growled. I was impressed. She was defending Caleb, which got Jerold’s attention. We watched in curiosity. She was a shy child, and Isabelle decided to back her up. The two stood side by side with bristled hair, but it wasn’t serious.
“Make me.” Michelle challenged. They tussled, and Isabelle took back the action figure, tossing it to Caleb. She didn’t win in strength, she just snatched it. I decided that was enough, there was no need for blood; we all knew little Izzy liked to bite.
“Daddy I am Alpha! Let me Go!” she squealed. Indeed, she was, her fiery attitude said it all.
“What’s going on in here?” Demanded babygirl.
“She was about to bite; I saw it in her eyes.” I say with a smirk.
“Let. Me. Go.” She bit my hand as hard as her little teeth could. It drew blood, but didn’t hurt, I sighed, letting my wolf take over. “My smallest pup. You will release me.” Commanded my wolf. She let go. She was still scared of Rakaam... for now. I put her down when she stopped protesting, and she ran to her mother, who took her to play with Jason. Caleb followed, holding Mini’s hand.
“Now, you asked me for advice on Heidi, right?” She took the papers off my desk and began reading them.
“I told her she could visit him, but she seems to be too shy.” I say defeated.
“Why not invite him to train with you this afternoon?” She said as an idea.
I liked it. “Baby you’re a genius.” I kissed her on the forehead and thought it best to pick him up. It would be faster, and I could give him a nice stern talking to before they got out of school. I pulled into my space and went inside. There were students sitting in the office for skipping. They seemed to be discontent that their parents were in the office already yelling at the siblings, until they saw me walk into the room.
Everyone did their usual greetings, but their father spoke up. “Alpha you didn’t skip school, did you?” He asked me with a stern fatherly expression focused on his pups.
“Actually yes. A lot. But the punishments were different. You got lashes back then, but I got out of it by pretending to like it.” I said with a chuckle. I got disapproving looks to say the least. Well… the pups thought it was funny. “But there is still punishment for skipping.” I say sternly
The pups on hearing that stopped their snickers.
“What would be your ruling then?” Asked the Principal.
“They’re young. Give them detention and Saturday school.” I mention casually, signing in and smelling for the boy. The principal trailed behind me like a shadow of worry, because no one knew he was my daughter’s mate. I would keep it that way until they let it get out, that wasn’t my place as a father. My job was to support them since they were so young, and let their bond form without interference.
He was reading quietly and filling out questions that were projected on the whiteboard via projector. They were history questions, and I cringed when I saw I was a question. It was “how long had I been Alpha?” I had come to power over 200 years ago. Fairly young for an immortal creature of the night.
“Good Afternoon Class.” I said, opening the door and surprising them. I intimidated them as much as I impressed them. This class was full of future warriors. “I’m here to steal John for the day.” I say with a small smile. The boy seemed a tad worried, but I walked down the halls with him to Heidi’s class.
/Do not say anything./ I linked him. I wanted an update on how she was being treated. Her brother or myself would ruin the element of surprise. That girl would act differently around us, and I know Heidi wouldn’t say anything.
We both curiously peeped in the window, and the students were already in groups. The teacher had her and the other girls paired up with her again. I didn’t know if it was on purpose, or accidental, but either way I wasn’t happy about it.
“The answer to 20 is A.” Mumbled the girl.
“No, it’s B… The Council is responsible for all disputes with Alphas before they fight.” Whispered Heidi. “They can even take packs from Alphas, or order Rogues to join packs.” She said looking away.
“Whatever...” She grumbled.
They were silent a while and they passed their papers to the front afterwards. The girl still had an attitude, and I did not like that she seemed not to know her place. She was raised on the other side of the pack, away from my influence, because me, my brother, nor my sister would allow her to behave as she did. Like a spoiled brat.
And this didn’t come from a place of anger, she genuinely didn’t behave her station. What was she going to do if her family moved back to Ronitus? Does she think that she would be able to have an attitude as a nonranked member of the pack? She wouldn’t be a pup anymore either. She would be an adult, or close to it.
There was also the fact that John is not only Ron’s sun, but also about as strong as a Beta already. He would be with Heidi, and she would disrespect the future Alpha’s mate, no better yet, she would disrespect the future Second Seat of the King’s mate. I saw her link someone, and it had to be my daughter. She looked a little sad afterword.
She would probably be killed for her mouth by Ron. She was done a disservice by not being raised to be more humble. I had seen enough, and I walked in the room without saying anything. The class was already relatively quiet, but she noticed me enter. I got a small plastic chair, and sat resting my chin on the back.
“I thought I told you I wouldn’t have another conversation pup.” I said calmly. Rakaam was livid, but he would have to be quiet. She was disrespectful, but she was still a pup.
“I’m sorry sir.” She stuttered with shaking hands. Interesting how every time she gets caught, her snarky comments end.
“Sis why are you bothering Heidi?” Growled John, but I held my hand up to silence him. I pointed for him to sit. He may be her mate, but I was still her father. This was mine to handle as Alpha.
“I want to hear it, all of it. What did you tell my daughter?” I say with a growl.
She was silent for a while, and she fumbled with her fingers. What she didn’t know, was that I already knew what she had said, because I pried in my impatience. I just wanted her to say it. It even attracted a small crowd. Teachers in the hall linked their coworkers, some peeping on the other side of the door. I raised an eyebrow. While I was still calm, I linked Derrick to get her parents over here pronto.
“…. I called her a know it all.” She said with her head down.
“Mmmhmm. And?” I interrogate. My eyes were completely red at this point. It was all I could do to sit in my chair.
“…and a mutt…” She whispered as low as her voice could go. She trembled, but she was only afraid because she got caught.
Being called anything that referred to us as a dog was an insult worth getting into a fight, and here she was ruining my little girl’s confidence. This was worse than being called a bitch… you didn’t just go around saying something like that to someone.
