Book 2 Chapter 23

John
“That isn’t a bad idea.” I got out my phone and looked through the new contacts father had given me… I picked at random, calling Beta.
“Beta Isaac. Yes, young prince?” He asked with a smile in his voice.
“Hey Isaac, quick question… whatever you say. I’ll do it.” I was as serious as I could be, and I could hear my parents in the background.
“Go ahead sir.” He chuckled. I heard I think his mate with my parents. They were talking and laughing. I think they knew what I was going to say.
“Ok. I think a certain…. Servant of mine should be punished for going to far this morning.”
“Jesse hurt Anastasia, right? Servant Assault is 15 lashes and 3 days dock pay for medical.” He said casually.
“…. How did you know?” I asked.
“When I saw those three come up the stairs, I saw that huge black bruise on the human’s arm. I knew your mate would never, Garnet’s as loyal as they get, and she wasn’t a wolf yet, so she couldn’t do that herself… also I was the one who ordered Jesse, so I must be punished as well.” He said casually.
“What, No! I will pardon you or something.” I growled and he laughed.
“Then it would be favoritism. The pack expects order. Having a bratty teen disregard you, and disrespect you is also an additional 15 by the way. I’ll prepare the posts.” He hung up.
The room was silent, and all the faces in the room were grim except Garnet. She wasn’t his mate yet, but Ann had been wronged. It was only natural that he would want revenge…. Which he might take if I pardoned them both. Loyalty only runs so deep. If a wolf feels that they aren’t getting it back in return, they may revolt.
“I’ll take the damn lashes it was worth it. Fuck you both.” She grumbled. She will be killed by the elders if they hear this. Said my wolf quietly. Why was she so damn stubborn?!
“Jesse, I always told you your mouth would get you in trouble. I don’t care if you’re mad at me, but please don’t say shit like this later… I don’t want to see you killed.” I told her. My wolf calmed me down, way down….
“I’m already dead here. I died the moment I wasn’t your real sister, and that bald asshole became my Alpha. I hate this place. I hate what you’ve become. I hate that a mutt and a HUMAN have more rights than Me, a Full blooded wolf. I hate that little bitch so much I just wish she would fucking die. I… I want things the way they were…” She grumbled.
“Treason...” Snarled Garnet’s wolf but Heidi surprised me by putting her hand on his chest while she sat to stop him.
“Time only goes one direction…,” Said Heidi. I knew not to touch her, and let her finish calming down. She smelled of fear and rage… and something else… something really dark.
------Heidi------
“Why won’t you use what I gave you, my most fragile child.” Said a voice in my head while I shook with my fists balled and aflame. I felt like I was going to make an explosion, but the last time I did that, I was in the prison at CharredMoon. I would probably kill someone since they were all so close and I was much stronger now…
No. I know she said all those hateful things… but she didn’t mean it… I thought, concentrating on my exercises. One. Two. Three. Four. Five. I counted slowly in my head, imagining that I was locking this power away.
Jesse just pushed all the right buttons too fast, now I was literally burning inside and out.
“Then do not crack small vessel, by trying to hold more water than you can contain.” Said the Horned One. He absolutely terrified me.
He sounded nice, but really… he was the one who destroyed the world so totally… so completely that he was locked away by All the other gods. There are still craters in the earth today that can be visited, and witches pilgrim there to try and contact him. Ironic. They all beg for his attention… and I literally Don’t want it, yet he visits me… He did it because the Lord of Light banished him from seeing his daughter, the Lady Moon. I didn’t like that he could come to me whenever he wanted…
“Your mate’s broken.” Said Jesse coldly.
“No, she gives you mercy. You, who are weaker than she, do you not feel the lick of her flames?” Said Silence. John’s phone when off. Alpha wanted to punish her now, not later.
“I’ll take her to the post.” Said Xavier in disappointment.
“What?! Dad! No, let me go!” She yelled, screaming then she was completely silent. He knocked her out.
“Sorry sweety… the Band-Aid comes off here. I’ll meet you two there and request that Alpha does it.” He said casually.
“No dad, let me… I have a feeling if my parents do it, they’ll probably kill her.” Said John, and Xavier grunted. I then felt warm tingles on my back.
“It’s ok little mate. I got you. You are not weak. Maybe by wolf standards, but you’re more. You’re my mate, and I love you. She isn’t worth it. You’re smart, funny, and kind. You know how rare that is? Hot too. Also please stop burning the table, it’s about to catch on fire.” He chuckled.
“Sorry!” I yelled snapping out of it. He kissed my neck. “There, do you feel a bit better?” He asked.
“I do, but I feel a little guilty.” I said sheepishly with a smile.
“Better the table than my brat sister. Come on… Since I opened my big mouth, I have to be the one to do something about it.” He grumbled.
“Can’t we pardon her? Whipping is a bit…. Much.” I commented and John shook his head.
“No, and I’m sending her to ShadowMoon. She isn’t going to behave here, and I’d rather her live somewhere else than get killed or banished.” He said with whisky eyes.
“Will she be ok there?” I asked.
“Better than here.” He said as if he were making his peace with it. He held my hand and we walked to the packhouse, trailed by Garnet, who said nothing. He walked on my left, and John was on my right. They looked intimidating. There was gossip to be heard the moment we stepped into the packhouse, and I got looks of respect shown my way.
It made me feel strange. My wolf was puffed chested, holding her tail high in the air in my mind, and I almost outwardly shook my head. I kept on the guise of sternness, but in reality, I felt good. I should have felt terrible, but Jesse had been getting away with acting selfish and bratty ever since I met her… it was only a matter of time before this would happen… but I didn’t want to see it.
I do. Retorted my wolf. For Once something will happen to those who hurt you. she snarled. But Jesse didn’t. At least not physically… I couldn’t defend her, because my wolf was right.
She truly did need some kind of real punishment for what she did to Ann. It looked like her arm was almost broken, but she wouldn’t let me heal it. I think she was scared of magic, and I couldn’t blame her. Most nonmagical creatures are.
We met up with Alpha and Luna, and he snatched me out of John’s embrace. “You little one, you will be the punisher.” He held me high in the air at the top of the stairs for all to see.
“Father release my mate please.” Grumbled John, and he put me in his arms. I wrapped my hands around his neck to hold on better, but thankfully, he put me down at the bottom. We followed the Alpha down the stairs, and he was given an old wooden box. It looked warn, ancient…. Like if he held it too hard, that it would disintegrate.
We went outside, and walked to the middle of the back garden of the packhouse. There were five posts, and Beta Isaac was tied to one end. Jesse was awake, scared out of her mind on the other side, and the ones in the middle were empty. The sun was pretty much ready to set, but I was nervous. I don’t know why I was scared for her, but I was. I noticed that out the packhouse came other wolves, and slowly… it looked like there was at least 200 or so wolves outside, surrounding us in a big circle. There was a crowd of confused warriors, as well as some who were snickering at Beta.
“Beta Isaac did you steal Alpha’s sweet roll?” Joked the Warrior Commander Litruce. I saw his nametag.
“No, I stole your mom’s chest hair!” He joked and there were laughs. I frowned… weren’t these wolves like thousands of years old?
“Pack, Warriors.” Said Alpha Ron, and everyone quieted down, but he held a small smile on his face. “We are here for the Assault of our newest pack member, Omega Anastasia. She was a mortal I turned this afternoon, and for it, Jessica Robinson will receive 15 lashes. She will also receive an additional 15 for the disrespect of my son and his mate.” There were growls and gasps.
“She was merely to participate in a small test I designed, not to hurt anyone. My mate, may I humbly ask you to remove 10, in case she didn’t understand instructions… also it is my understanding that this is her first ever pack punishment.” Asked Luna Aemi submissively. He scratched his chin. Everyone was silent.
“Very well. She will receive 20, be grateful for your Luna’s grace, because I was going to give an additional 10.” He grumbled, though it was loud enough that everyone could hear him. He opened the box, and out came a dust covered whip. It was small, thin, and leather.
He put it in my hand.
