Book 3:Chapter 40

Zayde
“Then you heard the conditions.” Said Father Parez.
“Yes, and it stinks of betrayal. It’s partly why I brought my father, and apprentice along.” I didn’t mention Echidnah. Wherever she was, she was hidden, it was well enough that they didn’t see her. She likely flew low, and covered herself in leaves like in the old times…. Her scales can blend in like a chameleon when she really wants…
I had half a mind to let her come destroy. They wouldn’t see her coming, as that isn’t an illusion.
“The audacity that they discuss betrayal before they even oathed their part…” Father said this, finally expressing his opinion. “Had you been witches, you’d have been returned to the master.”
Father Parez scoffed. “The master allows us mercy, unlike your people.” He said standing.
“If BOTH peoples were allowed to Oath Break, then this world would be DUST!” Screamed father. “I held my tongue; I hold it no more!”
“You won’t have to; I know of honor Beast.” Sneered Parez. “Give me a knife. If I draw my sword, they will overreact because of *you* brother.” He growled the last part. “Even now the Dust Eater’s anger was swelled from your words.”
“Forgive me Mario.” Arlen bowed his head formally. He was ignored.
“I vow on the Honor of the Sun, that we form a truce and treaty between the Dark Witches. That they keep to their own, and my people should they choose to venture and make trouble, they are in the wrong. That should my people harass them, they will be given. That I swear on the Sun, I will uphold this.” He said cutting his hand with a small knife.
“I deem that fair. We shall keep to our own, though know that here, we DO deal with some humans.” I said seeing father nod.
“That is my territory.” Said father. “Unlike my son, I make no oath. I do as I please, how I please, when I please to, and if you push me I don’t mind dying if it means you do with me.” He said plainly. “Death for a dark witch is merely an intermission.”
I knew father; he wasn’t bluffing… Maybe I shouldn’t have pushed him this morning.
“You are among one of the *worst* bounties, though we cannot act.” Father Parez said this with a sneer, but he was smart. The ceilings weren’t a hundred feet high… father’s head would likely touch the ceiling of the vaulted chamber above.
“Then we’ll take our leave, unless you want vampire vomit on your floors.” I said heading to the stairs. Micael was too weakened to carry his bride, so I did for him. I was thankful my mate wouldn’t have the nose to scent this. It was bad enough we’d rode in the car together on the way here, but now her scent was on me proper.
Micael will likely want to at least mark her later.
He watched me like a hawk, and I thought it best to let them ride together. Echidnah appeared from leaves when we exited the church. This place made me feel the weight of the Light’s hand on my head… The warning to behave was clear… but it wasn’t warranted. They were likely chanting down there, charging the earth with so much holy magic, that the flora here may start to fucking glow.
“Ride with me.” I ordered the Mother of Monsters, and she happily obliged. She was a great beast, so this didn’t affect her as it did me… Many may not know this, but she was made partly by Lia too…. Not the Horned One solely. She favors our ways because of her nature, but holy water doesn’t burn her unless she does evil, like any other.
She got in, and I popped the glove compartment. As we drove, I broke the law. “Fuck humans. That was bullshit. Well… fuck that set of them…. All that was one big setup until they realized there were three of us.” I said taking a celebratory puff. I know father and Micael did as well… He smells unstable already as it is, but he needed the experience.
“It was a trap.” She mentioned casually. “We all knew that though.” I passed it to her and she took a long puff. “That place is taxing. They house so many souls…. Quite a few are innocent, but I did manage to break their barrier so everyone can escape.” She said as I dodged a magic trap.
That was meant to pop my tires…
“Did you see that?” I asked.
I had a *bad* feeling in my gut… Tiffany….
“I need to get out this car. That wasn’t priest magic.” She said as I pulled over. She became her true form, and she flew off… I can’t ditch the car. I don’t know what I’d leave… shit. I used this car for work, and the trunk is filled with not only 1 magic bag, but also magical components and illegal ingredients, even for dark witches.
…. Then I had an idea.
“I’ll catch up!” I shouted while stripping.
Humans saw my mortal visage…. But they didn’t see me shift. I could hear the girls giggle while their friend driving cackled… Any other time those women would have made me chuckle, but not now.
I carried the damn car, but I was more than big enough. That wasn’t the issue…. It wasn’t exactly hard if not for the fact that the instinct of the beast is to ruin and destroy.
I roared when I accidently held it too tightly and broke my windows. Gods damn it.
I flew about 200kmh, I think about 130ish, and got there to see that the humans were in fact revolting. They threw torches at the castle, but what irked me was how did they get in?
[Who let them in?!] I roared.
[I don’t know, but I’ve not ben authorized to kill anyone.] Yelled Typhen, while his mate was in the air. She was hexing them…. She was harsh with them too.
Impotence- ineffective, it will take a while to activate.
Boils- that one was better.
Liver disease- immediate and life threatening. Those mortals were picked off when they tried leaving
Scurvy- They were weakened, but well enough to still do wrong.
Tied tongue- Those caught in that curse forgot Romanian and now speak perfect Koreyan.
Flaccid mind….. That one was really nasty…. It permanently dulls the mind… They will never recover.
Diabetes and gout… She was getting more creative by the second, trying to weaken their resolve or break their ranks. I couldn’t see what they were huddled around with a torch, but an army of Dark Witches hovered in a circle, and father wasn’t here. He had to drive with the fledglings. There’s no way they could
Whatever landed on them had some screaming. A trip to their church with Parez still there would cure them, but anyone else might not be as successful. They won’t be experienced and leave residue.
To be honest, I didn’t care… I worried about my mate, who I couldn’t find… until I did. There is no greater fear than seeing the one you love in the hands of the enemy… It’s why they were alive the ingrates!
----Tiffany----
Zayde’s office was filled with notes on potions that he was working on. They were ordered from other covens. They wanted ones that allowed for temporary shapeshifting to small animals. They thought it was a good plan to have some stored in case of attack, and the weaker members like the kids can run and hide a few days while the adults defend.
I wanted to help, so I read his notes carefully…. This took me back, giving me a memory. I’d made this before, but back then it was only to teach the girls. They were so terrible at potions at first, using too many frog-cat whiskers.
Hellinia turned herself into a salamander and chased her trepid sister. I giggled… It’s memories like that which make me sometimes wish that I said ‘yes’ to the master, but this is better.
I grabbed a zultanite crystal. It’s like alexandrite, but the color change is from red to green. I needed that, a sapphire, crushed them to dust, mixed that together, dissolved it in exactly 15 ounces of sulfuric acid and distilled skeleton juice, one werewolf claw (shed, not taken or it’s cursed), red, black, and orange lavender, and two chili peppers.
The burn helps to know when you’ve passed all the potion… and…. One laxative…. Purple Elderberry….. but at least they’ll be an animal……
It isn’t *pleasant* but in 5 hours, this potion could save some kid’s life. I made it so they will turn to kangaroo mice. Small, hopping mice should be much harder to catch than a large rabbit or slow rat. I would have done a kind of bird, but the kids won’t know how to fly.
To get them used to the hopping, I’ll give them lessons in a potato sack or something.
“TRESPASSERS!” Screamed Typhen. “All Witches Report to the Gates! They Have Entered!” He roared a mighty boom that shook the castle…. The stone gargoyles came to life, and flew with magic… alarms were sounded.
Without thinking I summoned my demons and got on my broom. I jumped out the window, barely managing to figure out where the lock was since I panicked a little.
I didn’t want anyone to get hurt, but now the 40 or so people had broken the law… They were on Coven Territory, Alteer’s…. Did they mean to purposefully amake beef with him while they were gone?
“They aren’t vampires! They fly on brooms!” shouted one.
“I’ll call the Chur-” I dived as fast as I could.
[Mistress NO!] Yelled both Aptherraam and Tinzaa at the same time. They knew what I was up to.
“Electroluxi!” I said making a pulse of electricity from my beating heart. I coughed blood immediately, since you’re meant to prep before you do that spell. I was grabbed by a sea of hands.
“Get the witch!”
“You killed the Metters!”
“I did no such thing!” I screamed as they ripped my shirt with their fervent grasping. They laughed….
“Kill them!” Shouted Echidnah.
“They have the master’s mate…. Fuck.” Said Typhen. They were enormous, but they pinned me down, and held a torch right above me… someone else had gasoline…
I had another memory… I knew what being burned alive felt like. The smell of petrol reminded me… the lick of a torch so close did too. I didn’t ask myself why I helped them though. These men were the same ones who burned down Casey’s home… the same ones who led the vampire hunt…. They even…
They smelled of wild onion.
They weren’t of Hunter’s lines, but they marked themselves by attacking me. No one knows how or who gives them that, but they no longer smell of light.
