Heidi
“I’m Dr. Sampson.” Said the handsome fae man… too… scary for my taste, but the unmated nurses swooned over him.
He had dark brown hair and elf’s ears…. But I’d scented elves before…. I didn’t know what race specifically he was, but to be fair, it didn’t matter.
“Is she alright Dr.?” Asked John… Dad got word and was on his way… I was in trouble and not looking forward to that.
“It’s just holly burn. Sage, holly, Palo Santo, and burned rosemary are not good for magical creatures. At least, not witches. Drink some water and don’t fly the rest of the day. It will run its course since you’re healthy.” He said getting up and stretching. “You’re dismissed.”
He said that like a king, but I listened to his command…. Weird.
“I’m glad we can go.” Said John… “He alerted my instincts.” He complained.
“I just thought he was really… old? In charge… Something like that.” I mumbled. I barely remembered what he looked like…
“You said you wanted to go to the coffee shop right?” He asked.
I nodded shyly. “I think I can get you a frappe. I bet that’s why you wanted to go.” He chuckled.
I mean he wasn’t Wrong… “I heard he Just got a new machine.” He’d bragged about it to the whole town…
“He did. Warrior Jr McNelis waved his around being late. Dumbass earned my squad Leg Day.” He growled a little…. It sounded cool, not scary.
I had no idea what it meant though. I never learned wolf speech, but I was meaning to get around to it.
He let me ride in his truck, but when we got there… dad was at the entrance.
“Heidi I got this.” He said rubbing my back before getting out.
“I’m not mad Heidi.” Dad yelled. “I just wanted to make sure you’re ok.”
I had no words, but thankfully, John spoke with him...
That I still… I still wasn’t used to being treated well… There were still times like this I remembered very vividly my name at the coven was not Heidi….
Dad slowly walked to the truck and opened the door. I earned a hug rather than being yelled at. “I got a chance to talk to Dr. Goldman… I was so worried… Stay with John, I need to pick up the pups with your mom…. Izzy got into a fight with one of the 3rd graders….” He grumbled.
“They were picking on Caleb, and she bit them didn’t she?” I asked.
“Good guess, but Mini had class with them, and one of the little boys bullied her. Izzy broke the boy’s finger.” He sighed…. “They don’t even have their shifted forms yet.”
“I know…. ” I mumbled. I had no idea she could bite Harder than what she did when they played…. Damn… As a dad it did make me a little proud…
Once dad left, me and john sat across from each other… I got my frappe, and he got a hot coffee.
He sipped his damn near black expresso… “Mmm! Thanks Zeke.” John Beamed.
“Anytime. Don’t mind me; enjoy your date!” He smiled, but John looked mortified.
“Sorry… I know you wanted to wait for your mate for that…” I mumbled.
He laughed. “I don’t mind Heidi, you’re my lil matey.” He said meaning that I was his friend.
“To be honest, you’re my best friend… I don’t even know if I’ll get a mate, but I hope it’s you.” My wolf blurted the last part, and I blushed red hot!!!!! “That was Sparkle!” I yelled.
He laughed so hard that he had to sit his cup on the table. “If it makes you feel better, I hope you’re my mate too Sparky.” He grinned.
She growled. She wanted to take over to tell him her name was Sparkle, not getting that that was a nickname. “How was class today other than ‘Double Leg Day?” I asked with a smile.
“Brutal. They have me lifting 400 pounds now.” He complained. “I was Fine at 350… but Alpha thought I was just screwing around.” He said with a smile.
“But you Were.” I said pointing at him.
“Oh… you saw?” He interrogated.
“Yeah…. I did…” I blushed.
“… Would you like to shift with me this afternoon? I know your leg might still hurt, but maybe being your wolf will help.” He offered.
/I Will Heal Us./ Said Sparkle in my mind. I had to hold in my giggle.
/…what happened to-/ She cut me off.

I had to stop Sparkle from taking big gulps of my frappe, while John looked like he was doing the same.
“What’s your wolf’s name?” I asked. “I know you’ve told me before but for some reason I can’t remember it…” I said sheepishly.
“Terracotta. He’s pretty chill... and he likes you.” John said casually. I could see the brown of his wolf through his catlike green eyes… They shined like a polished stone…
“You know Sparkle, she was practically all over you the day we met.” I said finishing my last sip.
“I think that’s cute.” He said ruffling my hair. He growled a little when he did it.
I hummed. And I literally wanted to run away I was so embarrassed….. He wasn’t my mate… I was feeling like this because we were good friends.
“Can I leave the truck here?” John asked getting an absolute Kick out of messing with me!
“Go ahead.” Smiled Zeke.
He stayed outside while I shifted in Zeke’s shop bathroom…. Lady Moon I’m so red furred.
/You’re so Tiny./ He sang in a link. /You’re it!/ he said putting his nose on my forehead before running up the hill to the packhouse.
/I wasn’t ready!/ I complained.
/Too bad! You’re still it!/ He yelled. His tail was wagging, while I chased him with my small paws.
Before I got him, he whipped around and barked. /I’m going to get you!/ he yelled.
/Ah!/ I giggled, running around the house… I jumped over bushes and leaped in the air…. crashing into dad.
He petted my head, and shot John a glare. “What are you up to John?” He asked with a raised brow.
He responded in wolfspeach.
I don’t know what dad said, but I only went to his elbows when he shifted.

[So tag is it?] said Alpha… He knew what I was up to… I just wanted her scent on me when I went home…
[I think it’s time I’m it. After all, Peppercorn tagged Me.] he snarled.
I turned tail and Ran, while Heidi was completely oblivious to the fact that her dad sounded like a war drum.
Of course, she would think his blood sport was good fun… after all he was gentle with his pups…. And I felt like I was running for my life.
This is what I get for being Greedy. I already had a chance to share coffee with her… and kind of have a date but not really….
She still didn’t know and I would wait…. It was Hard to, but anything for Heidi… she was so fluffy and really…. Really cute. I’d never seen a wolf so red.
[You better pay attention.] Alpha snapped. He was going to bite my tail off for fuck’s sake!
/Dad you’re so fast!/ She common linked.
/Anything for you, my little pup./ He said to turn and talk to her, and I used the opportunity to run home… I was chased clear out the pack, while being laughed at by Warriors. I couldn’t best someone like him. I knew he was purposefully going Slower than he could run right now too.
[I’ll see you tomorrow!] he snarled in wolf speech, stopping short of the Crimson Border as if he wasn’t Alpha there too.
[See you tomorrow!] I said on panted breath…. Pale Lady what the hell.
I’d pick the truck up Later. Right now…. I was being laughed at by Assistant Beta and my dad too… they were sharing a cup of coffee, since they were supposed to patrol with me tonight.
“How’s it going Petey Rabbit?” Asked my dad.
I shifted, being handed a cup of milk.
“Yall are Dicks.” I complained. I drank it anyway. They knew I’d had coffee already, but the milk kind of made me feel like a pup.
We all shared a small laugh. “Was it worth it though?” Asked Derrick.
“Completely. She’s as red as actual peppers.” I said with a grin.
“Look at that Goofy ass grin Gamma.” Said Derrick. “Just hold out until her bond forms. Then mark her or whatever. Alpha only picks at you because he wants you to be strong.”
“Nah, Alpha likes messing with me.” I said shaking my head.
