Book 3: Chapter 15
Zayde
“Son, we need Typhen here at least in case Paanix decides to become disobedient.” Said father. I was on the phone with him, but I was also half asleep.
That was the downside of shifting… I lacked the energy to even lift my head… Now that I had a chance to relax my muscles, all they wanted to do was rest... I was satisfied enough with her in my arms… but fuck if it isn’t annoying to wake up so sluggish…
And on top of it all I just Had to answer the phone… This could wait!
“When we leave father, I must take them both. They may be beasts, but they are still mates.” I said firmly. “Plus, on top of everything, they’re bound to me. Leaving them here would give you trouble.”
“I can best them. Both.” He said with a growl.
“But they are not bound to you, so no matter what you do, they will not respect you. They will not listen to you, and most importantly, they will be a threat more than an asset left unwatched. Unless you’re ready for a brood birthed by Echidnah in secret, and all her slithering babies awake already turned against you.” I said firmly.
He was silent a moment. “Then at least leave a copy of their teaching in case some of my charges wish to learn the ancient ways.”
“I can agree to that, but without a teacher, they won’t attain grand forms as I have.” I admitted.
“I was afraid you’d say that… I’ll send any who wish to learn to you when the time comes… Damn… I’m going to lose at least 500 Good Witches…” He complained.
“And I’ll have 500 greenhorns.” I said rolling my eyes. “I’ll meet you with grandfather after I take care of my mate.” I said rubbing my eyes.
“I look forward to it. Meet us at midnight. We must discuss not only the leaving terms, but the other things you wish to take as well.” Said father, hanging up.
“Aptherraam, what time is it?” I asked the small lion.
I smirked. He hadn’t realized yet, and I wouldn’t spoil it.
[It is 3:43pm master.] He yawned in demonic. [Wait.] He looked at his paws. [I’m Big! Look Tinzaa! You’re Big Too!]
“Huh?” Said Tiffany. “Ah! Finally!” Tiffany shouted. “Let’s go to the courtyard!” She wiggled out my arms, and sprinted to the elevator, still in her white pajamas. They were admittedly cute, being a simple t-shirt with a sheep on it and matching pajama pants.
I snuggled with her all morning… it would have to do. I would make good on my promise too. We weren’t going to leave for the Amazonia Rain Forest anytime soon, because at the moment, we had to put our affairs in order.
I had to appoint a new Tower holder, which that was easy. Andrei could have it back or send his son over here if he really wanted. It would take no time at all to reestablish a chain of command here.
The issue would be Echidnah and Typhen. They were upper beasts…. They held power that I would not just give to my father. They were not only bound to me, but swore loyalty to me as well. I half imagine that the beast unit will come with me. I’m sure they wouldn’t mind the intense magics out in the jungle.
I remember Yellow Diamond… Gods the spells that could be cast there. I could bet money that humans could even throw a spell or two… Which reminded me… I might need to take the Metters. They aged as mortals, because they were, but it will eventually get out that they’re one of us should they keep returning here….
“Hurry up!” She yelled happily.
“Alright.” I smiled, shaking my head. Tinzaa was also excited. She took the form of a male peacock, because that was my familiar visage…. To be fair though I wished they were something… less noticeable.
After all, black lions and red peacocks didn’t really exist in the mortal world… but I let curiosity get the better of me. I took us to the courtyard on the elevator disk, and she sprinted barefoot across the lawn. She was so happy. I didn’t want to spoil it.
I was barefoot too, but unlike Tiffany, I could grow iron scales if need be.
Tinzaa, no surprise was a thin goat demon. Her weapon was a whip, while Aptherraam was admittedly more unique. He had honey badger markings, as his mother was the Lord of Aggression’s youngest daughter, and the body was mooselike. His face was white, and the streak ran from the tip of his pink nose to a moose’s tail…. He had a grand wrack, and moose’s features, but fangs that protruded out from his muzzle. His claws were impressive, as well as his build.
He was well defined in muscle, so she did a good job and didn’t coddle him too much.
“I …. I cannot express how much I’ve wanted to do this…” Said Aptherraam. He kneeled to us. He had a double edged sword, and stuck it in the ground. “I wait to serve.”
“You will serve well.” I said, finishing the saying…. He must remember… “We serve the master.” I said out of curiosity.
“And we serve you.” He said without skipping a beat… He remembered, but I’ doubt he would ever say so. My mate requested she remain as she was, so out of respect, he would likely never share anything with her that she didn’t already know. Tiffany was too distracted from her demon’s form and the happiness of raising her familiar successfully to notice.
She hugged his neck. He had to be about 10 feet tall, so even kneeling he was pretty large. She cried on his shoulders, and he chuckled. “You’re magnificent!” She shouted. “You’re absolutely everything I could ever want.”
“And you as well mistress…I even know how to make myself small again. I cannot wait to ride with you again…. But I humbly ask to retire… This form is very tiring.” He mumbled.
“Me too.” Asked Tinzaa… “Especially after last night.” She admitted sheepishly.
Now my mate blushed too.
“At first, I was going to spar with you two… but I’ll leave it for another time when you’re less sore.” I smacked Tiffany on the butt, which she freaked out about. I could smell that it aroused her, but I didn’t say anything.
“Go!” She shouted, wiping tears, and I laughed. “Shut up!” She complained. They became their small animal forms, and we carried them.
“Do you still want to go out?” I offered for peace, and she grinned.
“I’m flippin’ Starving!” She yelled, grabbing my free hand, running the wrong way if she wanted to go to the formal dining room… She was actually headed to the servant mess hall….
“I’ll lead the way.” I said picking her up, now carrying her and our charges. She was light as a feather, and so was my heart. I was always the more sentimental of the two of us…
----Tiffany----
He carried me to where the food was, and I was ready. I wanted whatever they had, because I hadn’t had anything since before the wedding. I didn’t really eat at the reception like I wanted… I was kind of nervous then.
“There’s the newlyweds!” Shouted dad. He had a plate piled high, filled with just bones and meat. Mom had a salad… I’m sure she had other stuff, but his appetite was never sated.
“Aptherraam got his form!” I shouted. There were claps. “He’s a giant moose with honey badger markings.
“Oh I wished I’d seen that.” Said mom. “I’m glad I got to see you two before we left.”
I got hugs and kisses from mom… She always knew how to make you feel special.
“Can you shift again?” Asked Harry. I didn’t even notice he was here too! I gave him a hug, and his mate glared at me a little. Zayde didn’t look too happy about it either, but they’d have to get over it.
“Yeah, but that form isn’t something to play around with.” Warned Zayde. “That form is a legendary beast… Hard to control, because its nature is one of destruction. Even after I shift, I can be a little aggressive for a few minutes…”
“Neat.” Said Harry. “I still can’t believe I got to see such a fight, and the Horned One.” He said excitedly.
“Yeah, well that’ll be your last.” I said stealing his sandwich. “That spell’s so fucking dangerous… I can’t believe we pulled it off.”
“Hey! Paws off!” He growled.
“MMm-mmmm turkey with bacon.” I teased.
He scoffed. “You’re always stealing my food.” He whined.
“No I don’t.” I lied. I did. He always had yummier stuff.
I wound up sitting next to his mate, while Zayde was next to my dad. They chatted while I got to interrogate Becky.
“So how’s mated life with my brother?” I asked.
“Hectic.” She admitted. “He’s always getting into stuff; I feel like if I turn around too long, he’ll have his head stuck in a jar…. Again…” She giggled.
“Worth it.” He beamed.
“Oh my gods… You didn’t get stuck in the Cheesy Balls jar AGAIN did you.”
“…..no….” He lied.
“Lies! Lies and Slander!” I pointed. “I can’t leave a few days without you literally getting into trouble!” I laughed.
“Beta Issaac Bet Me!” He protested.
“Don’t pin it on him; he isn’t here to defend himself.” I laughed harder.
I did miss the pack a little bit… I think it wouldn’t hurt to visit before we leave to re-establish Yellow Diamond…
That I was nervous and excited for. I get to lead again. I get to take witches with me likely from every diamond coven, and travel half way across the globe… I wonder what was left in the ruins. I wonder if anything is still alive out there, and if so…. What?
