Book 3: Chapter 74

Zayde
Today was a black suit with an orangish-yellow shirt, and black tie. Why not? I rather enjoyed myself.
The beast protector wrapped around the castle tower 3 times yesterday, and become one with the stone. They’re a kind of spirit beast, long gone because of pretty much their own folly.
Lord Asanguis holds dominion over all serpentkind. He isn’t their creator, but he is essentially their King. They wanted to side with the light, so he single handedly reaped every single one of them.
But that’s not really that special… I never understood why they sided with Arviel for Stealing our master’s mate and locking her up…. And they were *well* disliked for a time as turncoats. It’s why being called a *snake* is an insult to all. As creatures of Hell, they were punished for a time too, before Layers… back when *everybody* fucking got it, innocent or not.
Back then you could lose your hide by being in the masters’ way… especially the Horned One. Before the Moon Goddess’s release… his temper was quick, his words were short, but his demands have ever been reasonable. He did listen, but you better not have anything he doesn’t want to hear… best to tell the Pit if it’s bad enough.
And speaking to the Pit was like trying to find a New Apple sized needle in a haystack. It was easier to go to his location than to look for his demon form… But even then, that was its own terrifying ordeal. Our trips Below cannot last longer than a few hours at Best. Even with the demon’s blood I carry. I could find myself *permanently* dead for being down there too long, and I’d be there by meditation, or spirit walking most cases.
Being permitted to descend was not only an honor, but Bragging Rights none could take from you…. It’s why me and Elkteer were close… how hard he fell chasing power, when the master would have *given* it should he have asked.
Man, those were the days, but I admit… not worrying about the Church holds its own merits.
Like Now.
I get to be in my office, and finally get the delivery of mortals, and the Vampires along with them around midnight.
Tiffany is out in the forest by herself, trying to come up with what to be. She wanted something reptilian, since I’m demonic in nature. My blood runs cold these days…
And I am no longer a mammal. I do not think as one… I do not feel as one. Micael goes through this transformation as well, though he likes it because his mate is a Vampire. Before, her cool touch made him feel guilty, but now they’re the same body temperature.
… As a behimoth, I can warm myself with my inner fire, but I only do that at night. I didn’t think it fair to rob her of all her warmth… I really do.
She’s so warm.
I’m so wrong. I chuckled, being pretty much by myself up here. Even my demons were gone.
There was a light knock. It was Lord Eskaal… checking on his babies.
“Oh whatever.” He rolled his eyes. “But … well… I *am.*” He smiled.
“They are stable sir, and none hold scar nor is there discourse.” I returned his light mood.
“Ok. Good. I’m going to need you to come with me.” He said simply. That was a command from Lord Xaxas’s general, not a suggestion.
“Of course sir.” I stood.
“Lighten up. I’m interested that unlike the others, you’re *two* demon forms, not one.” He said with a light smile.
“Do you need me to give a mortal my blood sir?” I asked. “Who’s soul needs restoration?” I’m not a *real* behimoth, but I have enough blood within to extract that property. That and my magic should bring them nearly back to life.
“Oh, very perceptive. Do you know of Jang?”
“Brutus’s fluffer?” I asked and he snorted.
Like… with the shit they pulled, stealing the White Wolf’s Human mate while pregnant, then forcing him to leave his seat…. Being I think Third or Fourth…*and* their king swore not to interfere for the sake of the human?! Everyone knew of that gossip!
“Aye, the very same. ” He held a laugh before bursting at the seems. “Lord Tyson has made him his charge, but I need you for a potion. I also wanted to know if you wanted to go on the adventure, since I intend to ride you while you rain hellfire on some disobedient souls.”
“….Okay.” I said getting some shift clothes, and I started taking off the suit. I had just a simple black t-shirt and ratty jeans. Tiffany’s going to be gone a while, but I left her a note anyway. A Text would distract her. This should buy some time… maybe.
I followed him through a red portal…. I never really thought about it, but-
“You should stop while you’re ahead. Portal magic such as this is beyond you mortal.”
His warning was taken.
“So what do you intend to do?” I asked to change the subject.
“Jang’s had his soul eaten by hellworms and lava maggots., so I’m going to need some energy from \[Redacted\], then go to \[Redacted\] and lastly… steal about a cup of purity from … hmm… Uriel’s grave should still have some.”
“What.”
Oh that’s *Death on a stick*.
You don’t mess with Uriel. He is hostile as Fuck.
The Unicorn King with a single slash could decimate an entire battalion of demons *alone.* Even the likes of the Lord Asanguis himself was beheaded by the beast when he was sent to reap him. If we go near that thing, it will likely be as stealthy as possible….
The Realm King had to kill him. It’s why he’s dead, but I’m sure his spirit is more than strong enough to stomp my head in.
“Oh, he is. In his death he has become 20 fold stronger. If he appeared as a soul, that alone is enough to make holy water, consecrate ground, and turn vampires to dust.”
My heart raced with excitement.
This is going to be Fun.
\----Tiffany----
My Little Cat Bopping around was annoying, but I flew to a secluded part of the great river. The Amazonia is one of the largest in the world, but it is also one of the most unexplored.
All I could see is darkness, all I could hear is the nature around me.
This kind of mediation is a ‘round about way to independently search. Well, for anything. Crystal balls show locations, memories, and the like… meditation is searching within. Even Theo behaved.
After all, she wanted a form and a place in my mind to truly rest when she needs to
I closed my eyes and levitated over the water… Water protects this flesh from spiritual attacks… I’m not in my territory, deep in the jungle alone with a distracted familiar chasing bugs.
But I can’t reprimand him.
“OW!”
Tinzaa pecked him.
“Watch for rivermaidens!” She hissed, shifting to be a naked woman. “Come come now by the water’s flow.” She sang…. Demons sound ethereal… when they want to be beautiful… some can be angelically so…
“Come come by the River’s glow!” Sang a siren-like voice in response.
“They’re 4 miles away. Three of them…. river Dolphin maidens.” Said Aptherraam. “That’s real close… sorry mistress.”
I can’t respond. But dolphenkin… they’re either the calmest sea people you’ll meat or the Worst. There isn’t an in-between with them. He left to make sure the fish were offered for safe travels… and so if they do intend to trick like some merkin do… nobody feels sorry for the bodies.
I’d hate to kill such a *rare* people. They only live here now. The ones in the Mississippie and Nile are long extinct…. Both humans *and* supernatural are responsible for that.
“Water glowing through and through, I have 3 fishes here for you!” he sang back. He caught three purana. “I’ll be back. Shit… uh… Ah lee ahh nah kiku zuu! Is that right?”
“Good thinking. It has to rhyme or it breaks negotiations.” Said Tinza. “You said I trade the fish that you may eat.”
“Ua vel lah kra Za Ne Thuu…Nem ha li nan eh hake tuu!” Said a male voice. ‘Come and barter man to man, be ye not liar I cannot stand.’ I think was more or less the translation. Theo did that so I didn’t get distracted trying to remember a language I hadn’t heard this lifetime.
“Ok, they got their chief.” Said Aptherraam. He became a lion, and roared before running off at a breakneck speed, then becoming black smoke.
“I’ll stay here. I don’t like that the original one didn’t siren back.” Said Tinzaa. “Mistress… This is like the old times…”
Still can’t respond and it’s distracting. I can’t even move my face or I’ll have to start over.
They didn’t respond… Aptherraam is a mighty moose… his voice when in a human shape I suspect would be scary to the water nymps.
“I remember…. When I bonded to my lord the first time…. I was so arrogant. My father and mother are Upper Demons, and I was stuck with *a lowly Stanley*.” She chuckled. “Then he Put Me In My Place… I saw what he could do… I understood why the master gave such a low witch such power.”
I saw something black with red belly scales in the darkness!
It was so fast but what was it?!
“Because bloodline is important, but not so important that nobody can become greatness.” Said the Horned One.
I fell, but not in the water.
I was in the Horned One’s arms!
“Sorry sir!” I yelled, and he put me down gently.
“If you fell in the river, made of flesh, I’d have lost you little vessel.” He glared. “Did you forget water dunking?”
I bowed my head. “I did!”
“I know you didn’t, you didn’t ask.” He smiled. “Still looking for a form?”
“Yes master.” I was made to rise. He does not like too much submission, but it is given because of his station. To be casual, is to likely be punished.
“You don’t have to be so court little one. You’ve  not committed a crime needing my help.”
Did… did he just roll his eyes at me?
“Zuzu be nice!” she complained.
….zuzu?
“Don’t tell anybody.” He huffed playfully. “Did you see anything before I caught you?”
“Darkness, red, then a quick flash of a snake with wings.”
“OH?!” he yelled excitedly. “Do you want to be a black serpent little one?!!”
“That sounds neat!” I beamed.
He grinned wide like a proud father. He even pet my head.
“You must do this the way Zayde did, but I trust you will do well. Summon the one called Ifreya, the mate of my mount when I don’t use Apythmenos.”
I’ll have to fight her… and serpents can use magic too. But he wouldn’t have told me her name specifically if he didn’t think I could win.
